My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 2007
"Sit down. Stop causing trouble or I won't give you any dinner!"
Hendrix never expected to be bossed around by a six-year-old girl like this. He furrowed his eyebrows and looked very impatient and helpless.
After being stuck in a daze for a moment, Aaron burst out laughing then picked up some food, and started to eat.
Aurelia had resolved the fight between these two men all by herself.
I didn't feel any sense of accomplishment for some reason. When I went to sit down, I started to make fun of Aaron. "You're much too happy for someone who just got scolded. You'll spoil Aurelia." Aaron placed his bowl down, still smiling, and sighed, "I just suddenly thought about Emma. She'd usually scold me like that, but I never expected Aurelia to have picked it up... Besides, what's wrong with spoiling her? I'd happily spoil my niece rotten! Any boys who want to pursue her will have to go through me first."
Hendrix's deep voice then drifted over. "The gender of a child is determined by God. There are very few families who have both a boy and a girl like me. Some people are destined to only have daughters, while others can only have boys. Kinship by blood cannot be understood by words alone."
Honestly, the things that Hendrix would say...
Amused by Aurelia, Aaron was now in a very good mood and didn't get mad at all. Instead, he placed some food on Aurelia's plate. "It doesn't matter. I don't care. All that matters is getting our names on the family register. Isn't that right, Aurelia?"
Of course Aurelia didn't know anything about family registers. All she knew was that the food her uncle had given her was her favorite. She smiled and nodded repeatedly. "Yes!"
Hendrix was so angry that he slammed his bowl down and left once again. But this time, probably from Aurelia's nagging, he had controlled his anger. No one could tell that he was angry when he left.
Hendrix had only taken a few steps up the stairs when Aurelia saw him. While she was chewing on some lobster meat she asked, "Uncle, why is Papa not eating?"
Aaron gleefully picked up more food for her before answering, "He's already full." "Oh, Daddy ate so little..." Aurelia didn't think too much about this and continued eating.
I couldn't do anything about it. Hendrix, who had lost his memory, was feeling very down. He had obviously been very angry the entire time.
He liked to keep everything to himself. If things went on like this, sooner or later, he would explode from anger, like a hot air balloon.
"You should stop fighting with Hendrix, especially in front of Aurelia," I advised Aaron.
"You don't understand how men banter. We know what we're doing. You don't have to worry about it." Aaron waved his hand and said in passing.
I wanted to go on, but he ignored me, so I had to shut up.
For the entire night, Hendrix had shut himself in the study on the second floor and never came back out.
Realizing that he hadn't eaten anything, I made him a bowl of beef pasta. I added lots of spices because I knew he enjoyed heavier flavors.
As I pushed the door open, I saw Hendrix sitting down in front of his desk. The cold light emitting from the computer screen made his face look extremely cold.
"Dinner was pretty light, so I made some supper. I have extra, do you want some?" I said as I pushed the pasta towards him.
Hendrix looked down and spoke brazenly, "Such heavy seasoning, are you sure it's extra?"
Upon hearing this, my face turned red as I shouted angrily, "Do you want to eat it or not?"
I didn't know why, but when I was alone with Hendrix, I also seemed to be unable to control myself.
Hendrix stared at me for a few seconds before he began to dig into the pasta.
Perhaps it was because of the noble mannerisms that had been carved into his bones but just watching him eat his pasta was very pleasing to the eye.
I was stuck in a trance watching him, but then caught myself and snapped out of it. I quickly looked away and caught a glimpse of the message that was on the computer screen.
"The key points regarding the argument on acquiring the right to custody..."
