I shrugged, "Since I've set my mind on dealing with the likes of Valerie, I naturally have my own plans on how I'd like to go about it. I appreciate your kind gesture though."

After that, I went straight into the bedroom. Nerissa followed behind, saying, "Arianna, you don't have to refuse me right away. I know you have a lot of bargaining chips now, so you couldn't be bothered with my intel about Valerie. But have you ever thought about what will happen to your marriage if Andrea is constantly wedged in between you and Hendrix?"

I stopped in my tracks and turned back to look at her, "So, knowing this, you're planning to use Andrea to ruin my marriage?"

She pursed her lips and said unpleasantly, "You don't need to be my enemy at all. I can help you with a lot of things, much more than just this."

I wanted to laugh, but I refrained myself from doing so. I looked at her and said, "All our relationship ever will be is a neutral one. I can't help you with your affairs, and I believe that I have the ability to handle my own. Thus, I hope we can live in harmony in the future." Back in the bedroom, I felt a little uncomfortable because my lower abdomen was aching. I went into the bathroom and found that my period had

come.

After my miscarriage, I'd constantly get unusual discharge and darker-colored blood. It had been a long while since I experienced a regular menstrual cycle. Fortunately, things were slowly getting back to normal.

It was rare to see something pleasant. When Hendrix came back, I was sitting on the sofa in the bedroom, watching TV. I covered myself in a blanket because I felt a little chilly.

He entered the room, his hair slightly moist as he held a bouquet of flowers in his hand.

Seeing me lying on the sofa while on my phone, he came over and pulled the blanket off me, saying, "Why aren't you asleep? Were you waiting for me?"

I immediately sat up. I was a little tired, and my waist felt somewhat sore. I replied, "Yeah!"

He put the flowers into the vase and rubbed my cheeks with his palm. His hand was cold to the touch; perhaps I had been sitting around for too long.

"Why were you waiting for me?" He pulled me into his arms, smiling from ear to ear. He rubbed his prickly stubble against my face.

I looked at the bouquet he bought, and the presentation and freshness of the flowers indicated that this must not have been cheap.

He handed the flowers to me and said with a slight smile, "Does it smell nice?"

"Is it for me?" I took the bouquet into my hands and brought it close to my nose. It smelled like a field of flowers on a sunny summer afternoon. How fragrant.

He hugged me closer and said in a low voice, "If not, would I have bought it for myself?"

I looked down and said blandly, "I heard from Aunt Nerissa that Miss Burton still has to stay here for a few more days."

He frowned, his face a little pale as he replied, "And?"

I loosened the wrapping paper that I had touched and said quietly, "Let's put this in the living room."

He frowned, anger flashed across his face as he said, "So, this is how you're going to treat the flowers I gave you?"

I got up and pulled myself out of his arms. With an indifferent gaze, I said, "What should I do, then? Sleep with it in my arms, like it's a baby?"

He pursed his lips and stopped talking. He then tossed the flowers onto the TV cabinet, then took off his coat and went into the bathroom.

It didn't take long before I heard the sound of water from the bathroom. I glanced at the flowers he threw on the cabinet and went to bed, disinterested.

My stomach still ached a little. When I got up and took a few steps forward, I could feel the blood gushing out from down under like a river. My mood was already pretty bad to begin with; this just made me even more irritable than usual.

When Hendrix came out of the bathroom, he was completely wet and his hair was undried.

Seeing that I was already lying in bed, he frowned and threw the towel my way, "Help me dry up!"

I frowned back at him and hid under the covers, not saying a word. I didn't want to talk to him.

When he saw that I refused to move, his expression darkened. "Arianna, if there's something you need to say, then tell it to me straight. You don't have to get passive aggressive with me. I didn't handle things well tonight, and you've already vented your anger on me. What else do you want to do? Just get up and do it. Don't work yourself up, okay?"

I wasn't feeling well, and was a little sleepy. I shifted in bed to look up at him. Then, I got up and kissed him right on the mouth, "Thank you. I like the flowers very much. Goodnight!"

After that, I lied backdown in bed.

Hendrix's gaze did not shift away from me. He then narrowed his eyes slightly and said in a low voice, "How half-hearted of you!"

Then, he bent over and kissed me back. He bent his elbow as he inched closer to give me a deep, enticing kiss. I did not resist, and even responded to his kisses. He only let go of me after a long while. He looked at me, his eyes pitch black and deep like a bottomless pit. "Can we do it tonight?"
