After hesitating for a while, I finally said slowly, "What if I don't stop? What will your plan then be, Madam Lawson?"

She raised her eyebrows, and her black orbs turned fiercely cold. "With my financial resources and the Moore family's power, I can definitely make you disappear from Jarold City along with the entire Roberts Group."

I smiled and nodded, rubbing my chin, "Yes, you sure are capable of that."

She gave me a small smile and said casually, "How about it? If you stop now, at least we won't have to be enemies in the future."

I almost burst out laughing, but I caught myself in time to suppress the sneer in my heart. I looked at her and said, "Madam Lawson, you are indeed a person who has experienced a lot, so you must be pretty at ease with many things. You can solve big problems by just uttering a single sentence."

After a pause, I continued, "But I can't. After all, I'm young and my life experience is not as rich as yours, Madam Lawson. I can't just smile my way through. In the dead of the night, I often wake up from my sleep, with my mind full of a baby's cries and blood all over the ground. Madam Lawson, you've probably never heard the desperate cries of a baby, but I have. I can even feel their desperation and despair as they cry, begging for me to save them."

I smiled a smile so cold, it could freeze water. "Madam Lawson, as a mother, would you be able to watch helplessly as your child leaves you? I doubt it. You'd probably never do something like this in your entire life, would you?"

Her face was pale, and her lips which were covered with delicate lipstick were tightly pressed together. After a long while, she sneered, "Since you're not willing to reconcile, Miss Reid, let's carry on and see who will be the last woman standing."

I made sure to stay calm as I smiled faintly, "To the end it is!"

After getting off the car, I looked at her coldly as she drove away. The memories in my mind chipped away at me again and again.

That was right, I had to hit where it hurts! Now that it had come to this, I guess everyone would be leaving mercy at the door.

I took my phone out and dialed Aaron's number. The call went through after a few rings.

"What's wrong?" His voice was heavy with fatigue.

I couldn't help but ask, "Were you sleeping?"

He said, "I had to deal with something in Asherton last night. So, I went over and came back a little late."

I nodded and said, "Please help me arrange a meeting with Michael!"

He paused, stunned by what I had asked for. "What are you meeting him for? Didn't you say that you don't need him?"

"I did!" I opened my mouth and said, "I just want to talk to him about something, is that okay?"

"Sure, when?"

"If possible, today."

"Okay, wait for my call."

After ending the call, I was no longer in a hurry to leave, so I went back into the villa. Nerissa had already awoken and was sitting in the kitchen having breakfast.

Her face darkened when she saw me. She looked like she wanted nothing more than to kill me with her gaze.

I turned a blind eye to it and sat down in front of her. I said, "I need all the dirty evidence of Valerie that you have. As for the thing with

Granger family, I can deal with Master Miller."

She suddenly stopped eating her breakfast and squinted at me. "What do you mean?"

"Let's work together!" I said. Minnie brought breakfast over, which I couldn't really stomach, so I just thanked her faintly.

Nerissa was still a little confused. After hesitating for a bit, she set the glass of milk in her hand down and agreed, "Okay, but I have one more condition to add. You must convince the Miller family not to interfere with the future development of the Granger Group."

"Done!" I said. Then, I took out my phone and dialed Charles' number.

After about three rings, the call went through. "Arianna, have you had breakfast?"

"Yes, I have. Good morning, Uncle Charles. How's your schedule looking these days? You've been busy since returning from Ucrebury. My brother and I want to invite you to dinner. Will you be free anytime soon?"

Charles laughed on the other side of the phone and said, "You must have something to ask from me, brat. Alright, let's have dinner together. There's a good restaurant in the southern suburbs of Jarold City. Let's have a good chat over good food."

Nerissa looked at me with narrowed, intent-filled eyes.

I looked at her and said into the phone, "Uncle Charles, why don't we invite Anthony and Sophia as well? If it weren't for them, we wouldn't have gotten to where we are today. We should invite them to have a meal together with us to show our gratitude too!"

He chuckled, "You brat, so full of ideas. Okay, I'll contact Master Miller later. See you tonight."

I nodded. After a few reserved words, I hung up the phone.

Nerissa looked at me and couldn't help but smile, "I'm very curious, why did you suddenly agree to help me?"
