I was going to go straight to Hansburg, but when the car passed by a dessert shop in a building in the city center, I was reminded of when I had eaten at this really delicious dessert shop here before. I drove the car to the shop entrance. After the miscarriage, Irvin had brought me here to eat. It was a rather famous dessert place, so it was no surprise that long lines could be seen here almost on the daily. When I arrived, the store had just opened. It was early on a weekend morning, so there was no queue.

After walking around the shop, I chose a few desserts, all of which were earl-grey flavored. As I was paying, the cashier looked at me with a smile and said, "Miss, as the first customer of the day, you're entitled to get a free dessert. You may choose anything you'd like."

I couldn't believe that a sales gimmick like this would exist. Thus, I chuckled and let out a burst of soft laughter and answered, "Is that so?"

Although I knew that I couldn't finish them all, I still felt delighted. Who wouldn't be, when they had a pleasant surprise while shopping? It was like finding a ten dollar bill by the road side; although it wasn't much, it was still something to smile and feel lucky about.

I came out of the store with some desserts and felt much better. When I lowered my head to look for the car key, I was suddenly bumped into by a passerby who was eagerly trying to cross the road. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" The man apologized in a hurry as he walked right across the road.

I felt a little sad once I realized that bumping into the man had crushed some of the desserts. I quickly found somewhere to sit down to enjoy the desserts.

As I sat in the crowded city, the breeze in Jarold City felt chilly against my face. After eating a few mouthfuls of desserts, I couldn't stomach any more.

I looked at the rest of the uneaten dessert and couldn't help feel that it was such a waste, leaving them uneaten. After hesitating for a moment, I got up to throw them into the trash.

"Mr. Granger, the hotel you arranged for has been booked." I heard someone say nearby.

I threw all the desserts in my hands into the trash and side-eyed the source of the voice.

A man in a black suit handed a file of documents into a black Bentley on the side of the road.

It looked like he was handing in work. It was getting late, so it was time for me to go back as well.

However, just as I was about to look away, I caught sight of the man sitting in the backseat. He had cold and resolute facial features that were both familiar and foreign to me.

Irvin!

He... was that him?

I hesitated for about two seconds before running straight towards the car, leaving the bag I had with me behind on the bench that I had been sitting on.

"Irvin!" As soon as I yelled his name, the man in the car seemed to hear a voice and his handsome expression slightly changed.

His cold gaze swept over me. He immediately took the document with a poker face, closed the door, and then drove away.

I followed behind the car and shouted a few times, "Irvin!"

However, the car had no intention of stopping at all. The black Bentley arrived at the intersection and stopped at the traffic lights.

I was so excited that I rushed to the car again, but in my hurry, I didn't notice that a car was coming at me.

By the time I realized that I had been hit by the car, my whole body had already fallen to the ground.

There was a shattering pain coming from my knees and elbows.

"Miss, are you all right?" The driver that had hit into me got out of his car and helped me up nervously. He looked at me and apologized, saying, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hit you. You rushed into the road out of nowhere, and I really didn't see you."

I shook my head and didn't have time to answer him. When I looked up at the Bentley, the car had already gone far away from the traffic light.

All of a sudden, my heart was filled with doubt. I was sure that I was not mistaken. It was Irvin.

But wasn't he...

"Miss, I'll take you to the hospital. You're bleeding a lot. We should get your wound checked."
