"Don't make any more calls. If you're tired, just rest!" Hendrix said. He said that obviously out of concern and comfort, but his tone sounded incredibly cold. I nodded and wanted to talk to him about something else, but he had already turned around and left. The bedroom door was slammed shut with a loud bang. Was he angry?

I didn't know what angered him, but things did feel a little strange with him.

That night, Hendrix didn't return to the bedroom, perhaps because of my IV fluid.

Although I was injured, I managed to sleep well that night. I vaguely remember seeing someone standing beside me in a daze.

But I was in such a deep sleep that I couldn't really open my eyes.

The next day.

I was woken up by a chill on my elbow, and when I opened my eyes, I saw Josiah changing the IV drip for me.

My mind went blank for a moment before I finally opened my mouth to speak. "Did

Hendrix send you here, Doctor Saunders?"

He nodded and focused on the task at hand.

Minnie came up with breakfast and looked at me, saying, "Arianna, Mr. Roberts has gone out on his errands. He wants you to have breakfast and rest well at home!"

I nodded, feeling a little surprised. Then, I looked at Josiah and asked, "Has there been a lot to do at the office recently? Do you have to work overtime on weekends?" He looked up at me and raised his eyebrows. "Not really."

I looked at Minnie and paused a while before asking, "Was he in the study all night?"

Minnie paused and answered, "When I came in the morning, I did see Mr. Roberts coming out of the study, though I don't know if he was there all night."

My head ached slightly, and I couldn't shake the feeling that Hendrix was mad about something. As for what he was mad about, I did not have a single clue.

After treating my wound, Josiah looked plainly at me and gave me a few words of doctorly advice. "You can't walk around for these few days. Don't get water on your wounds or do any strenuous exercise either."

I stared at him and nodded. "Was Hendrix angry when he called you this morning?"

He furrowed his brows but didn't say anything. He just packed up the medicine kit and left without saying a word!

I didn't know what to think of the situation.

Hendrix came back after dinner in the evening. His face was pale as he walked through the door. I took the initiative to speak to him first. "Minnie made some good food. I was waiting for you to come back and have a taste with me."

He glanced at me, and his gaze was blank and void of emotions. "I've eaten!"

Was he still mad?

Watching him stride up the stairs and enter the study room, I felt confused.

"Arianna, why don't you bring the food upstairs? I think Mr. Roberts is not in a good mood. He probably has a lot of things to worry about for work. The two of you should have a good talk when you can. Well, such is life. One day you're happy, and the next, you could be depressed. As husband and wife, the two of you have to learn how to communicate."

Minnie advised me as she handed me the home-cooked food that she had prepared.

They were all Hendrix's favorites.

At the door of the study.

I knocked on the door a few times. After waiting for a long time, only to have no one come to open the door, I decided to push the door open and enter.

The study room was very dark. When I opened the door, I could smell a strong scent of smoke.

"Hendrix?" I called out.

I turned on the light and saw Hendrix next to the European-style desk. His eyes were tightly shut as he leaned against his chair. The coldness his blank face emitted was a sign that he wanted to block everyone out.

I placed the food on the table and said in a low voice, "Hendrix, Minnie cooked all your favorites. Have some."

He closed his eyes to rest. I couldn't read his emotions, but the cold air in the study clearly indicated that he was angry.

When I noticed the image on his computer, I couldn't help but be startled. It was a video of me being hit by a car in the city center yesterday.

How did he get that?

"Uncle Charles said that he would let us join the Reid family registry next Monday. Since you've been busy recently, do you want me to..."

"Arianna!" Hendrix shouted, cutting me off. When he opened his eyes, they were dark and bloodshot.

"Do you love him?" He asked in a harsh whisper. He turned around, and his obsidian eyes fell on me. "You managed to find him in a sea of people and even risked your life chasing after him. You can't let go, can you?"

As he said this, he sounded perplexedly calm, though a hint of irony could be heard. I was taken aback by his words for a moment before immediately grasping the reason why he was angry.
