Hendrix returned very late that night. After lan took Anne away, I laid down for a long time but didn't manage to fall asleep. When he came back, it was already dawn. Seeing that I had not yet slept, he frowned and asked, "Not sleeping yet?"

"I'm about to," I responded.

He murmured his assent and then told me, "Turn the lights off and sleep soon!" He walked to my side before he gently kissed me on my forehead.

Then, he whispered, "I need to leave for a trip. I might need to go to Mesville, and would only be back tomorrow afternoon. Get some sleep and when Minnie comes, let her know what you'd like to eat. Rest, okay? Don't stay up, or else I'm dragging you to the hospital as soon as I'm back."

"What's wrong?" I asked. "It's already so late, so why do you still have to go to Mesville?"

He stroked my hair and explained, "I've got something small to deal with, I'll only be there for a while."

I knitted my brows. Usually, he would not inform me personally if it was regarding something that wasn't serious. Instead, he would only send me a message which meant that whatever he had to handle was likely serious, since he even came home to personally tell me about it.

I pulled at his sleeve before I questioned him, "What's going on?"

He laughed and kissed me on the forehead. "You really can't bear to leave me, can you? Are you going to give me a farewell gift?"

I was speechless.

"Hendrix, you're such a pervert!"

He smiled, "I'm your husband, not a pervert. This is called flirting. Take care of yourself because I'm expecting you to make it up to me when I come back."

This man was truly remarkable...the way he could be this calm even as he talked about these things.

Seeing my face blushing up, he did not say anything more and pointed out, "Austin is waiting for me downstairs. So, have a good rest and wait for me to come back!"

After that, he grabbed for his coat and a few other personal belongings. I initially wanted to follow him out of the room to send him off.

However, he held me down in bed and nagged, "Be good and rest!"

Not long after he went downstairs, I heard the sound of the engine starting before the car pulled away.

I laid in bed and did more tossing and turning. As expected, I couldn't fall asleep, especially without Hendrix around.

It stayed that way until dawn, and I was groggy when I woke up. After walking a few steps, I felt very dizzy.

Minnie was cleaning in the kitchen. When she saw me stumbling about, she instantly stepped forward to help support me.

"Arianna, didn't you sleep well last night? Why do you have such large dark circles under your eyes?" Minnie asked.

I pinched the bridge of my nose, and my shoulders and waist were all sore. Then, I sat down on the chair and looked at Minnie before I said. "Minnie, please get me a glass of water."

She nodded and handed me a glass of water. After watching me take a few mouthfuls, she advised me, "I'll cook some porridge for you later. After that, you can go back to your bedroom and have a good rest. If that doesn't help, I'll accompany you to the hospital."

My shoulders were sore and I probably felt unwell due to a lack of sufficient rest, so I nodded in agreement.

Then, I took out my phone and called Kelsey. After a few moments, the call went through.

"Good morning, I will be there in about an hour. I might be a few minutes late because something's come up at home."

I had made an appointment with her the day before, but that had to be delayed due to my health.

Staring at the phone, I took a breath and replied, "I may not be able to go today either, so you might need to come to Flora Hill instead."

She paused for a moment before replying, "Okay!"

"Before you come here, please go to the hospital and get some sleeping pills for me."

"What's wrong?"

"My insomnia's been acting up," I replied. It wasn't a good idea for me to keep going on like this.

She paused again before she muttered, "I'll be there in 30 minutes."

After I hung up the phone, Minnie cooked some porridge for me. Seeing that I was not in good spirits, she asked worriedly, "Do you need me to accompany you to the hospital?"

I shook my head and told her, "That's alright!" All of this was caused by a lack of sleep. Ultimately, the doctor would only advise me to get some rest.

After a pause, I glanced at Minnie and added, "By the way, a friend will be over later. Please have some fruits and pastries prepared at noon."

She nodded and ushered me to eat breakfast.

If I didn't sleep well, I wouldn't be able to stomach much of anything. After taking a few bites, I completely lost the mood to eat.

After that, I sat in the hall and watched TV. When Kelsey arrived, she saw the dark eye circles under my eyes and asked me in shock, "Haven't you gotten better recently? What's wrong?"

I pinched the bridge of my nose and responded, "Hendrix is looking for a secretary to work at the headquarters in Jarold City. Would you be interested?"
