I pursed my lips and said to him, "Mr. Granger, lying is the most shameful act between people."

"Lying?" He mocked, "What did I lie to you about?"

I didn't say a word. A taxi came and I stretched my hand out for it. When the taxi pulled up in front of me, I got in and gave the hotel address to the driver.

When Shirley came out, the taxi was already a distance away. I noticed that she was frowning at Irvin, as if she was complaining about something.

I didn't want to ask about what had happened after Irvin's car accident. If our lives had become separated, then we should live our own lives.

What made me so furious was that he seemed to have treated us as fools. He might have been watching this whole farce as a spectator all this time.

I was finally back at the hotel.

As soon as I entered the hotel, I saw Hendrix, who was waiting for me in the lobby. He was wearing a black suit as per usual, matched with a pair of eyecatching black leather shoes. He stood in the lobby with one hand in his pocket. He was such a strong presence in any room that he was in.

I was aghast, lost my footing and fell to the ground. Conflicted feelings arose in my heart. Should I tell him what happened with Irvin? When Hendrix noticed me, he took long strides forward and walked towards me. As I looked at his figure, he reminded me of the sun.

He towered over me. Before I could speak, he took me into his arms.

I was taken aback for a few seconds. After that, I reached out my hands and wrapped them around his waist. My cheeks were pressed against his chest. There was a faint grassy scent on the man's body. Taking in his familiar scent, I calmed down greatly. I closed my eyes and said in a low voice, "Hubby!"

His body stiffened and he tightened his arms around me. He gazed at my face and asked, "What happened?"

I shook my head, "It's nothing!"

The hotel was busy and filled with people. From time to time, curious passersby would stare at us. After embracing me for a while, he dragged me back to the hotel room.

A lot of food was placed on the table in the room. He took off his coat and I couldn't help looking up at him as I asked," Didn't you eat?"

He smiled and said, "I was waiting for you to come back and eat with me."

I was stunned, "You should know that I already ate."

He nodded. Then, he dragged me towards the table and made me sit. He picked some food for me and said in a gentle voice, "You don't like western cuisine, so you'll definitely be hungry when you come back."

Shirley did take me to a western restaurant, but I stared at him in surprise, "How did you know that I had western cuisine?"

The food on the table must have been served not too long ago as they were still hot. He placed some more food on my plate and took a bite himself. Then, he spoke motionlessly, "There were bodyguards following you."

I was shocked. He had arranged a few bodyguards for me because of the previous incident. I knew about this, but I just unconsciously forgot about it.

After a moment of silence, I glanced at him, "Did you see him?"

Hendrix raised his eyebrows and he set his eyes on me, "Who?"

"Irvin!" I answered.

He replied nonchalantly, as if he didn't take it seriously, "Eat your meal or else it'll be cold soon."

Seeing this, I lowered my head to eat and didn't say anything else.

It was already late when we finished eating. Hendrix seemed to be quite busy; his phone kept ringing.

The server came in and took all the tableware away. I sat on the sofa to watch TV, but I was barely paying attention.

After he finished his call, he sat beside me and pulled me into his arms. He spoke gently, "Do you want to go out for a walk?"

I shook my head, "What's wrong?"

He grinned and said, "I'm afraid that you will get indigestion after eating. But we can do some other exercises if you prefer."

I was speechless.

"Let's go!" He got up, as if he was really going to take me to bed.

"No, I want to watch TV!" I said, my gaze following the figures on the TV.

He leaned into me and inched his mouth close to my ear. He whispered in a low and hoarse voice, "We're going back to Ucrebury tomorrow. Don't you want to go out for a walk?"
