My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 816
"Snowball was a trained pooch. It doesn't attack people a lot, but it's very alert. With Anne going missing in the Saunders household, I initially thought that it was because Snowball had been poisoned in the Saunders house. However, now, it looks like someone could've led them out of the Saunders property. There are so many surveillance cameras around the Saunders family compound, how could it be possible that nothing was caught on camera?"
Aaron frowned slightly, as if he had realised something. With slight hesitation, he said, "So, you think that someone in the Saunders family did it?"
I nodded. Then, I continued, "Moreover, that person should be quite close to Anne, otherwise Anne wouldn't follow them out of the Saunders house so easily." After a pause, Aaron frowned. "Do you suspect that it was Josiah who did this?" he asked.
"Is it not possible?" I looked towards him and continued, "Monique hadn't wanted Anne to be accepted into the Saunders family, and even more so refused to let Josiah know of Anne's existence. I had initially thought that because Anne was connected by blood to him that it would be best if there would be one more person on this earth who would love her. However, now, it looks as though Josiah wanted to keep Anne forever in the Saunders family, and he didn't want to let Anne leave with me!"
Aaron pursed his lips and looked at me. Somewhat disapprovingly, he said, "Josiah has been a businessman for so many years, and there's no way he would do something like this. First off, if he wanted to keep Anne in the family, although he could make her stay temporarily, she would still grow up eventually. She's the granddaughter of the Saunders family, and she will have to attend all sorts of banquets in the future. Our social circles aren't that big, so it wouldn't take long for you and Hendrix to find out."
I looked down and fiddled with my fingers anxiously, saying, "Perhaps it's a ploy set up by both him and Hendrix at the same time?"
Charles looked at me and slightly knitted his brows, he said, "Arianna, let's go back first."
Seeing that they all were feeling that my guesses were inaccurate, I became even more frustrated.
Along the way, I stayed quiet.
When we returned to the hotel, Aaron was called away by Charles. I stayed in the room restlessly and couldn't help feeling agitated. After finding Snowball, I felt even more certain of the possibility that Anne had been taken away by someone from the Saunders family. Some matters were hard to control once they started.
In the end, I decided in my heart that Anne had been hidden away by Josiah.
Thinking of that, I immediately exited the hotel and hailed a cab for Josiah's residence.
Josiah didn't live in the Saunders family compound. Instead, he lived downtown in a commercial residential area.
It was incredibly difficult to enter his neighborhood because an appointment was necessary. Upon arriving at the gates, I called Josiah.
Although Josiah was surprised, he did not say anything much. After communicating with the property management, he asked them to bring me upstairs.
The unit door was left unlocked long when I arrived. I pushed the door open and entered, seeing that the place had already been tidied up neatly. Josiah heard me entering.
He got up from the couch and poured me a glass of water, saying, "Have a seat!"
I looked at him and didn't budge, instead scanning the house. Unexpectedly, the house in the commercial residential area had been made into three small stories. It was very luxurious.
I didn't bother to stand around to appreciate his house. Instead, I started searching the place.
Josiah frowned when he saw me acting in such a way. He asked, "Arianna, what is the meaning of this?"
I ran through all the rooms, but I couldn't find any traces of a child. Burning with rage, I took the glass of water from his hand.
Without the slightest hesitation, I splashed the water at him. I was already falling apart as I said, "Josiah Saunders, you'd better hurry up and return Anne to me. Don't you dare get any twisted ideas. There's no way I would let her live with you."
He frowned. The water on his face trickled down his shirt as his gaze sharpened. "What are you talking about?" he asked.
I didn't intend to waste time with him, so I said directly, "Didn't you go through a lot of trouble to cause this entire incident, just so that you could keep Anne with you? Let me tell you, there's no way that I'll let that happen! I will never hand over my daughter to you."
