My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 904
Tiago's reply was instant. "Not yet, but there should be soon. A large number of businessmen had come to gamble on the gemstones. I believe it won't take long to produce a new batch of products." "Alright." Kaleb replied, and did not say anything more. He took a sip of the tea in his hand and glanced at the woman who had been standing at attention beside him.
He asked calmly, "How long did it take?"
The woman's voice trembled as she spoke, "Half an hour."
Kaleb nodded, his tone light, "Go. Some help is needed at Milesley Sea for the new batch of goods. You should run along."
The woman's face turned pale, crumpling to the ground. She pleaded, "Sir, I'll do better next time. I won't do it again."
Westin and Tiago couldn't bear to look at her, and were about to speak up.
Kaleb frowned at this. They quickly lowered their heads, and stayed silent.
"Go! Stop wasting my time," Kaleb said, bringing down the teacup in his hand.
The woman got up, her face ashen. She glared at me and left.
I just stood there silently as Kaleb ignored me, continuing to speak to the two beside him.
It was obvious that he had no plans of addressing me.
After standing for about an hour, my feet turned numb, and it became hard for me to stand still. I felt a little annoyed.
I interrupted their conversation and asked, "Sir, are you asking me to just stand here?"
The air tensed, Westin and Tiago's words caught in their throats. For a moment, they looked at me.
Instead of looking at me, Kaleb brought his long fingers to the tea table and knocked on it rhythmically.
He looked rather nonchalant.
As no one said anything, I continued, "Sir, I don't know what you're up to, but since you intend to send me back, you must be more or less wary of those who are looking for me. If that's the case, please send me back as soon as possible."
The air was still tense. Tiago looked at me with a frown. I thought I saw pity in his eyes. It seemed I had misspoken.
Kaleb finally spoke, airy and sharp, "Take Miss Reid for a walk!"
It was such a simple order, and I was a little confused. I didn't understand what he meant.
Westin stood up to look at Tiago and said something that I couldn't understand.
Tiago got up, his lips thinning. He looked at me. "Miss Reid, let's go!"
"Why?" I asked as my eyes fell on Kaleb.
The man looked cold, expressionless.
"Miss Reid, you should stop talking." Tiago gave Westin a look as he finished speaking.
In an instant, Westin had me pushed alongside him to the long corridor on the first floor of the villa.
I remembered when we had arrived, Naomi and the others were led in this direction.
I could only frown and let myself be guided by them.
At the end of the long corridor, Westin opened the door, using an iris recognition device to do so.
It surprised me, but it figured that these people were rich enough to have one. After all, ill-gotten gains were the fastest to amass.
The high-tech door opened, and Tiago went in. I followed.
