My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 992
Those words would've sounded normal if they came from anyone but Hendrix, someone who was widely known to be unfriendly.
Everyone took note of his words and it was as though love was in the air. People looked at one another, not bothering to conceal their interest. Especially those who did not know my history with the Roberts Group.
I saw their imaginations running wild, their assumption that Hendrix and Rowane were a couple clear on their faces.
Rowane was also stunned for a moment. Then, a red blush rose on her fair cheeks and flawless face. That shade of red made her even more goodlooking and charming.
Sebastian glanced at me briefly before he carried on his discussion of the project with Hendrix.
Lancille Village was a tourist project developed by the Milton Group. The main attraction there was its display of valuable antiques. By bringing in Roberts Group's expertise on artificial intelligence, they intended to develop a peach tree forest to attract even more tourists.
This joint project would serve to promote the Al tech that Roberts Group had been working on. Additional plans included a huge Al- based technology museum built in Lancille Village to promote the gallery. While the bosses dominated the discussion, the rest of us sat and listened attentively to them.
Not many employees came with Hendrix. Accompanying Rowane, Hendrix and Evan, were two other employees. I guessed that they represented Asherton's interests.
It wasn't my first time pouring tea for guests, but little did I expect myself to trip when I passed by Rowane. I fell onto the ground and made a mess.
I hissed in pain. The water in the kettle was hot and it had spilled all over me. Linda helped me up. She looked at me worriedly, "Come, let's clean this up in the washroom."
As she spoke, she pulled me towards the door, but Rowane stopped us, "The meeting will begin soon. Miss Reid, don't you still have to report on the project? It can't be delayed for a long time. Mr. Roberts still has work to do in the afternoon."
Linda frowned at her, "She was just scalded. We won't take long."
Rowane nodded. She acted as if she was very understanding and concerned about me, "I know. I do not have any other intention. I merely wanted to remind you that we don't have much time. Hurry, Miss Reid, and don't let the wound develop into a scar."
I caused quite a commotion, so of course, Hendrix and Sebastian noticed. Sebastian sneaked a glance at Hendrix before asking me, concerned, "Are you okay?"
I nodded, "The water was not very hot. I'll go and get changed out of these wet clothes. It won't take long."
Sebastian nodded, "There are clothes in my office retiring room. Change and hurry back soon."
I nodded. I brushed off Linda's concern with a faint smile and told her not to accompany me. "I'm fine!"
I left and headed straight to Sebastian's office. There was no time to go out and buy myself a new set of clothing.
Sebastian's retiring room was huge. There was a bed, a bathroom, a wardrobe, and a sofa and table set. The furnishing was simple but elegant. It suited Sebastian.
I quickly opened the wardrobe and found a few suits, some ties, as well as neatly folded shirts and ties. Next to them was a set of women's clothing, which looked familiar. I thought briefly that I had seen it somewhere before, but I couldn't remember and didn't have time to be choosy. I grabbed them and changed into them after a quick cold shower.
The size and measurements were just right but did nothing to hide my red, scalded skin. It was rather conspicuous.
I had no choice but to ignore it and go back to the meeting. Trying not to pay attention to it I went straight into the conference room.
