Chapter 43

(Yashira)

I woke up to someone running their hand through my hair. I could hear a soft humming as well. I didn’t feel threatened, but not knowing who it was, I needed to get away. I sat up and quickly stood on my feet looking at the person who was running their hand though my hair. My eyes widened, a soft gasp left my lips as my eyes began to water.

“M-mom?” my voice broke as I fell to my knees. Never in my life did I think I would ever see her again.

“Hello Estrellita” she smiled.

“H-how?” I asked, looking between her and dad.

“It doesn’t matter, pumpkin. We just wanted you to know how proud we are of you and your brother. We miss you and love you so very much”, dad smiles before pulling me into a hug.

“We know you both suffered a lot when we died, but we have always been watching over both of you. Joel made a great career out of what he loved. He has a mate and a beautiful daughter. We’re glad that he has opened his heart again to such a great guy like Andy. They are perfect for each other” mom grins.

“I know. After that scare that we all had, especially Joel, I know that he won’t be playing hard to get any longer. He knows that Andy’s feelings are pure and true”. I smiled at both of them.

“We’re also very proud of you pumpkin. We saw how hard it was also for you and how you stopped talking for six months. We’re glad that you came here with your grandma. We couldn’t hold back our tears of happiness when you sang her favorite song. I can’t imagine how hard it was, especially after not hearing your voice for so long, but we are glad that you are talking now. We’re also glad that you found your mate, took care of, and loved such a handsome little boy and have such a beautiful daughter. You are a powerful high priestess now, but always remember that you have a big heart, and you always see the good in people, no matter what” dad says.

“We believe in you and never forget that we are watching over all of you, Estrellita. Never forget who you are and where you came from”, mom says, pulling me into a hug. When she pulls back, I begin to feel this warmth in my hands again going up my arm, to my chest, then down my body.

“We love you pumpkin. Tell your brother we love him too and we’re watching over him as well. Now it’s time for you to wake up. A precious little boy wants to see his mommy”, dad chuckles before giving me a hug. When he pulls back, he k****s my forehead.

“Dios te bendiga” they both say at the same time.

“Amen” I whispered before I lay down on the grass. Everything around me darkens, before I feel like I’m being pulled and everything around me turns white.

“Mommy, please wake up” I heard Tristan whimper. Why is my sweet boy whimpering? Did someone hurt him? I listened closely to his voice, and I could hear the sadness in it. My sweet boy is sad. I need to wake up. My family and pack need me. I tried to open my eyes but failed. I tried again and this time I could see a little light. I closed them and tried again, this time fully opening them. I blinked a few times to adjust my vision.

“M-mommy?” I heard Tristan’s voice. I looked at where his voice came from, and his beautiful golden eyes were glowing bright. He hands me a bottle of water and I take it. When I’m done, I put it back and pat the bed for Tristan to put it up. I helped him up before hugging him tight.

“My sweet, sweet boy”, I said before kissing his forehead.

“I missed you mommy. You were sleeping for too long” he whimpers.

“I’m sorry baby, but mommy won’t sleep that long again. I promise” I promised. He nods and the door to the room opens, revealing Blair.

“Oh, thank the goddess you’re awake” Blair says, then she looks at Tristan with a knowing look.

“This is our secret, but I know that you can’t do this again, young Alpha” Blair said, making Tristan nod, and I knew what he had done. He had helped me so I could get back.

“How are you feeling Yashira?” Blair asks.

“Good. Where is everyone?” I asked.

“The Alpha is talking to the Elders in his office right now about the rogues we captured during the war” she says.

“I need to go and talk to them as well” I said, getting up from the bed.

“Not looking like that”, Blair says. I look down at myself to see I’m in a hospital gown.

“Go and take a shower. I’ll bring you something to wear” she says. I headed to the bathroom. I turned on the water and began to take off the hospital gown. I get in the shower. I grab the soap and begin to wash my body. I then grab the shampoo and wash my hair. I rinse and use the conditioner. I turn off the shower and grab a towel. I towel dried myself. I see a long, white sundress and some underwear. I quickly got dressed. I head out the bathroom and see Blair with Tristan. His eyes are still slightly glowing. Blair grabs the brush and starts brushing my hair. When she finished brushing it my hair was dry and in a side braid. I knew she had used her magic to dry my hair.

“The Alpha and the Elders are in the Alpha’s office”, Blair informs me.

“Thank you”, I told her, before I walked out the room with Tristan holding my hand. I saw a few nurses and Doctor Jena looking at me with wide eyes. I knew she needed to check on me, but I didn’t have the time right now.

“I’ll come back in a little bit so you can check on me, but I feel just fine” I told Doctor Jena as I walked past her and out the pack clinic. I continue to walk towards the pack house as some pack members look at me stunt before bowing. I gave them a nod and continued to the pack house. Once inside, I made my way to Gabriel’s office. Without knocking, I opened the door, making everyone look towards me. Jake and Gabriel were looking at me with wide eyes.

“My apologies for being tardy, Elders. I’m Luna Yashira” I said, walking into the office, closing the door behind me and Tristan. The elders stand. I bow my head in respect and they do the same.

“We’re glad to see you’re awake, Luna Yashira. I’m Elder Lyle”, the man with salt and pepper hair says.

“Nice to meet you” I smiled.

“I’m Elder Thomas”, the man with white hair introduced himself.

“I’m Elder Alexa”, the tall woman with long salt and pepper hair smiles.

“I’m Elder Rose”, the woman next to Alexa with short black hair smiles as well.

“I’m Elder Rod”. The last Elder introduced himself.

“It’s nice to meet all of you”, I smiled, then knelt in front of Tristan.

“Why don’t you look for uncle Joel and Uncle Andy and tell them to give you a snack. I’ll see you when we’re done”, I told Tristan.

“Okay mommy. I love you”, he hugs me before he opens the door and walks out, closing the door softly. I looked at Gabriel and walked towards him. He smiles getting up before pulling me into a hug. I kissed his cheek before taking Raguel from him. Gabriel gestured for me to sit on his chair.

“So, we were wondering what to do with the rogues. Because they were part of this war and have killed many in your pack which Luna Yashira brought back to life. I believe they should be executed like the rest”, Elder Rod said. I could see the other Elders agreeing to this. I thought about what Ana, Lacey, Malik, and my parents said to me.

“I have another suggestion” I said, making everyone look at me.

“What if I take their wolves away and make them live amongst humans? I can keep taps on them and if they do anything wrong, then we can take other procedures”, I suggested.

“From what I’ve heard, taking someone’s wolf is very painful” Elder Rose said.

“And so is helping someone bring their wolves forward, but it’s a choice my friends were willing to make. I know you all think that they shouldn’t have a choice, but I want to do things differently. With all due respect, this is our pack, and I would like to give the rogues a choice even though they don’t deserve it. They can choose to have a new life without their wolf and live amongst humans or die”, I said. I saw the Elders’ eyes glaze over and I knew they were linking.

‘You’re an amazing babe. I’ll stand by your side no matter what they say’ Gabriel links me.

“We’ve heard about you. We heard why Ana chose you as her heiress. Your heart is so pure and you always see the good in people. Do you think that if we give these rogues a second chance, that they can change?” Elder Alexa asks.

“I believe that everyone in life deserves a second chance. Who knows, maybe this second chance could be what they need to straighten themselves out. They just need a little push and guidance”, I replied.

“Then shall we go and see what they choose?” Elder Thomas asks.

“The sooner the better” I smiled. We all got up and walked out the office. I spotted Charlotte, Gabriel’s mom, who smiled brightly at me and hugged me.

“I’m so happy you’re awake” she whispered in my ear.

“Me too. If it’s not too much trouble. Could you watch the kids while we go to the dungeons?” I asked her.

“I’d love too. We’ll be here when you get back” she smiled, taking Raguel. Gabriel wraps his arm around my waist as we walk to the dungeons. The guard bowed in respect towards us before opening the door to the dungeon. Gabriel walked in first and I followed. Behind me were the Elders and, lastly, Jake. We passed some empty cells. When Gabriel stops, I see him tilt his head to the side.

“Lorie, what are you doing here?” Gabriel asked.

“Alpha, Luna, Beta, Elders” Lorie, one of the Omegas, jumps to her feet and bows her head.

“Lorie, why are you down here?” I asked her. She’s a very sweet girl and she spends a lot of time watching over the pups when their parents are working.

“I-I came to see my mate” Lorie replied, looking at the floor. This took the Elders by surprise.

“Who is your mate, Lorie?” I asked her.

“D-David” she stuttered, but I smiled when I saw her blush. I looked at the cell where she was sitting in front of and looked at the men in the cell. My eyes went to the blonde male rogue with piercing green eyes. He was watching Lorie with pure love in his eyes.

“Beta Jake, could you open the door and let Mr. David out please. He’s the first person we’re going to speak with”, I said to our Beta. Jake grabbed the keys from the guard and opened the cell. David stepped out with his head bowed. I could see Lorie wanted to run towards her mate but decided to stay in her spot.

“We should head to the interrogation room”, Gabriel says. Jake grabs David by the arm and directs him towards the interrogation room. I gestured for Lorie to follow us since this is her mate. She should know what the ultimatums are. As soon as we were all in the room and the door was closed, I looked at Lorie and smiled at her.

“Have you touched your mate since you found out you were mates?” I asked Lorie.

“No, Luna. He didn’t want anything to happen to me in case the others wanted to use me as leverage to escape”, Lorie replies.

“Well, Lorie, you should give your mate your first hug” I told her. She looks at me with wide eyes and I give her a nod of encouragement. She squeals softly before running towards her mate. David quickly stood just in time to catch Lorie when she lunged herself at him to hug him. We gave them a few minutes and I could hear David purring.

“Alright, David. The Elders came to help us with our decision after what happened with the war. At first we were going to eliminate every single one of you, but our Luna woke up after three weeks in a coma and put another option on the table”, Gabriel starts.

“The other option on the table is to take your wolf away and let you live with the humans”, Elder Rose says.

“Or you can choose to die” Elder Thomas says. Lorie gasped as her hands shot up to her mouth.

“ Tell them, David, please” Lorie practically begged. I looked at David, who looked down at the ground.

“Tell us what, David?” I asked, but he shook his head. So, I looked at Lorie wanting to hear it from her, since I knew her mate was not going to say anything.

“I didn’t get the chance to hide in the bunkers and I didn’t want the bunkers to be opened, risking the chance of rogues following me and hurting another pack member, so when I was making my way back to my cottage, David found me. When I looked at him I knew he was my mate, but before we knew what was happening, David was fighting other rogues to protect me” I couldn’t help but look at David who was still looking at the floor but the tips of his ears were turning pink.

“He saved my life, Luna, and was even injured by two other rogues when Joel and Andy found us. I quickly told Joel and Andy that he was my mate and saved me. Andy stayed close to make sure no one hurt David even more, but when David saw that a rogue was heading towards Joel he lunged at the rogue, ripping his throat out. Andy and Joel said they were going to-” the door in the interrogation room burst open, revealing my brother and Andy.

“Our apologies Alpha, Luna, Beta, Elders, but we need to speak to all of you before you sentence this man here”, Andy says, gesturing towards David.

“Joel, did this man here” I gestured towards David “save you from a rogue?” I asked my brother.

“Yes, Luna, but it wasn’t just me. Even though he came in with the rogues, he turned on them and was fighting other rogues to keep his mate alive” my brother replied. I looked at David, who was still looking at the floor.

‘What do you think, my love?’ Gabriel asks through our link.

‘Everyone deserves a second chance, my love’, I replied.

“David, when you crossed the pack’s border, did you hurt or kill any of our pack members?” I asked him.

“No, Luna. I caught my mate’s scent, and my wolf took over. We followed her scent until we found her. If the rogue Luna had known that my mate was in this pack she would have taken her like she did the others and used her against me”, David replied. I could tell he was telling me the truth.

“David, the Elders have put the choices out on the table. You can either live without your wolf-” I heard David whimper “or die, but because of what you have done for two of our pack members, I’m willing to let you keep your wolf if you pledge your loyalty to Alpha Gabriel and me. You will be on a six-month probation period and if at any moment during that probation period you do anything wrong you won’t be wolf less, but you will die.” David’s head shot up and I could see hope in his eyes.

“So, he can stay… here… with me?” Lorie asked.

“Yes, but like my mate said, he has to pledge to us” Gabriel says.

“I will do anything Alpha, Luna. Thank you for this chance”. David bowed his head.

“One question, David. Why are you a rogue?” Jake asks.

“I was born a rogue, Beta. My father was killed by hunters, which left my mother and I alone. When I was eighteen, my mother was killed by ferals. I’ve been on my own since then”, David replied. After talking a little more, David pledged his loyalty to us and the pack. Gabriel let the pack know we had a new member whom you could hear howls, cheers, and welcomes through the link. Andy, Joel, and Lorie took David away. We got to the other rogues. They couldn’t believe that we were giving them a second chance. We gave them time to talk to their wolf, so they could choose and their wolves being the selfless wolves they are… they chose for their humans to have a second chance, but made sure to tell them not to mess this second chance up. After saying their goodbyes, I sent their wolves to be with the moon goddess. I tried everything I could to make it painless, but they could still feel a lot of pain despite my efforts. After that, Gabriel offered them some food. The Elders gave each rogue an envelope with a few hundred dollars and even helped them to get an interview for a job each. Victor and a couple of other guards took them to the city, but before they left I made sure they knew that we would be watching, checking up on them and reminded them what would happen if they decided to take this second chance for granted.

After the rogues left, the Elders stayed for dinner before leaving. I had to go back to the pack clinic so Doctor Jena could check up on me. After making sure that I was good, Gabriel pulled me into a hug and told me how glad he was that I was finally awake.

“Mommy, could you make pancakes and bacon tomorrow?” Tristan asked.

“ Of course, my sweet boy. Also, I have something I want to tell you. When I was sleeping, I spoke to your mom and her mate-”

“Malik” Tristan smiled.

“You know him?” I asked Tristan.

He nodded. “Yes, I met him in my dreams. He’s awesome and he also loves me. I have two mommies and two daddies”. I chuckled but tensed when I felt Gabriel enter the room.

“From what I’ve heard, he’s a good man”, Gabriel says, making Tristan nod.

“Well, your mom wanted me to tell you that she misses you and loves you very much… they both do” I told him. Tristan wraps his arms around me and whispers ‘thank you’.

“You don’t have to thank me my sweet boy, but now you need to sleep. I love you”, I said, then kissed his forehead. Gabriel gave Tristan a k**s on his forehead.

“I love you son”, Gabriel tells Tristan.

“I love you too, mommy. I love you too, daddy”. I walked towards the door when I heard Tristan say “I love you mom. I love you Malik. Good night.” I left his door ajar then walked to Raguel’s room to check on her. Once we have checked on her, we head to our room.

“You’re not… jealous or mad about Malik?” I asked my mate.

“No, it means that someone else is watching over Tristan and he loves my son like he’s his, just like you and Lacey”, Gabriel says, and I nod in understanding. I changed my clothes and we both laid down on the bed. Gabriel turned off the light. He pulls me towards him and I lay my head on his chest.

“I’m proud of you baby. What you did today was something that I definitely wouldn’t have thought about or wouldn’t have done, but you, my love, you’re someone very special. Like the Elders said, you look for the good in people even if they don’t see it themselves”, Gabriel says before kissing my lips. When we pulled apart, he kissed my forehead.

“I love you baby” Gabriel said.

“I love you too, Gabriel”, I snuggled closer to him and soon a fell into a peaceful sleep.
