Chapter 52

After I told Kenzo I needed some time, he we very understanding. More so than I expected. Kenzo let go of my face, he pushed me to finish my breakfast, then he gave me clean clothes to wear, and drove me home. Well, he had Ben drive me, but he came with us. "You don't have to walk me to my door Kenzo. I said I needed some time to think." I said as we walked up the steps.

"I'm just making sure you make it to your apartment safe."

He replied.

"Didn't you post a body gaurd here somewhere?" I asked.

We just reached my apartment door. I turned to face Kenzo.

Who is looking around at the place in digust. It's kind of funny. Kenzo probably wouldn't be caught dead in this place if it weren't for me.

"Where is he anyways? I always look around, but I never see anyone out of place." I said.

"There." Kenzo said pointing across the hall.

I raised a brow at Kenzo.

"I rented him that apartment." He told me.

My eyes went wide.

"You rented my body gaurd an entire apartment?" I asked.

Listen to me. My body gaurd. This is so crazy.

"Yes I did. And I am walking you to your door because I don't want to let you go yet, if you must have an honest answer." He teased.

I giggled at him. Kenzo reached out to cup my cheek, and stepped closer to me. He stared down into my eyes, and everything else in the world faded away.

"I would make a fool out of myself daily if it meant hearing your laughter every time." He said.

My face heated. Who even says stuff like that?

Kenzo leaned down slowly. His lips are getting closer to mine. Finally, after this long week I get to feel those lips again. Just when Kenzo was about to press those juicy lips to mine, my front door swung open. "Uh, what the fu.ck?" Jed said ruining the moment.

Kenzo pulled away from me to look at my brother. He narrowed his eyes at Jed. Then Kenzo looked him up and down.

"Who the fuck are you?" He asked.

Oh no, I totally forgot to tell Kenzo that my brother had been staying with me.

"Me? Who the fuck are you?" Jed asked right back.

Oh no. I was trying to avoid telling Jed about Kenzo completely.

"Who are you yelling at like that?"

Relief flooded me as Kendra pushed past Jed. She gave him a 'what the he.ll is your problem' look before looking at me. Kendra's eyes went wide as she looked at Kenzo. Then a slow smile crept its way onto her face. Maybe I shouldn't have been so relieved to see my best friend.

"And here we were, all worried that our little Opal got lost somewhere." Kendra mumbled. "Hi, I'm Kendra." She introduced herself.

Oh god.

"Why are we all piled at the door?"

For fu.ck's sake!

Marc peered over Jed to look between Kenzo and I.

"Oh, hey man what's up?" Marc asked Kenzo casually. "I'm Marc, Opal's best friend."

I put my hand over my face to try to hide how red I am.

"So, you gonna tell me who the fu.ck you are?" Jed asked Kenzo.

"Is this your boss?" Kendra whispered loudly to me.

Thave no idea what to say.

"Please." Jed scoffed. "They were making out when I opened the door. Opal would never kiss her boss." He said

My face has got to be a tomato by now.

Kendra looked at me with her brow raised

"Your sister has a bit of a rebellious streak Jed, I think she would probably make out with her boss if she was drunk enough. You drunk Op?" Marc asked.

I gave him a bored look.

"Yeah Marc, wasted." I said sarcastically.

"So, you're here brother then." Kenzo said. "Just how many siblings do you have?" He asked me.

"You were making out with my sister, and didn't even bother to ask how many siblings she has?" Jed asked.

Kendra turned to give me an incredulous look.

"Really?" She asked him.

"We were not making out Jed." I gritted out.

"Yeah someone opened the door too fast." Kenzo muttered.

I looked up at him with wide eyes. Kendra covered her mouth trying to hide her amusment. Marc chuckled behind Jed. Who looks like he wants to kill Kenzo. Kenzo cleared his throat, and held his hand out to Jed.

"Kenzo Suzuki, it's a pleasure to meet Opal's family. One that cares about her that is." He mumbled

"What does that mean?" Kendra asked, voicing my thoughts.

Jed took Kenzos hand shaking it.

"Jed." Was all he said.

Marc snorted.

"You must of met Jezz." He said.

"She here?" I asked.

"She's sleeping, in your bed. Said something about if you were going to steal both men, she was going to steal your bed." Jed told me. "Both men Op. Both." Kendra teased.

Oh my god, this is a disaster.

"How about we talk inside, instead of out here, in the hall, where everyone can hear." Marc suggested.

Everyone turned around to walk into my apartment. I looked up at Kenzo. He looked down at me with a small smile.

"Guess I will see you later." I said.

Kenzo leaned down again. He's so close to pressing those lips to mine again. It might be a quick kiss, but I want it. "Ahem." Someone cleared their throat breaking up our moment.

Again.

I looked at Kendra with a frown.

"Since you think you can be all over my best friend, why don't you come in for a bit? I was just about to make some coffee." She said. "Well, actually Kenzo has "

"I'd love to thank you." Kenzo told her interrupting me.

My jaw dropped as Kenzo sauntered into my apartment.

After a moment I walked in after him. I shut the door behind me, and Kendra walked up to me.

"He is fu.cking sexy Opal. No wonder why you didn't want anyone to know about him." She whispered as she stared at Kenzo's back.

"It's not that I didn't want anyone to know Well.. I might have not wanted Jezz and Jed to know." I whispered back.

"I just. didn't really know what was going on between us. I still don't." I admitted.

"I get why not Jezz, but Jed?" She asked.

"So, how do you know my sister? Do you normally pick girls up from the club, and spend all night with them? Or is my sis just lucky?" Jed asked snarkily.

"Ohhhh, that's why." Kendra whispered to me.

I gave her a bored look.

"How is Jezz feeling?" I asked her.

"I don't know. I was here when she got here last night. We were looking for you." Kendra said annoyed

"Sorry." I said

"It's okay." She said with a smile. "Anyways, Jezz waltz in here wasted. She was going on and on about how she flirted with your boss all night, but that it was getting her no where. The girl was going on and on about how she is so much better than you, and how can not only one guy, but two want you over her." Kendra said dramatically.

Then she rolled her eyes.

"I hate your sister. It's no wonder why Marc hates her. I'm pretty sure she is the only girl that Marc won't touch. It's that attitude, no one should think that highly of themselves.

That girl should be more humble." She said.

"What happened last night?" Kendra asked.

"I honestly have no idea. After seeing my sister through herself at the guy that I've been secretly seeing, I got wasted. I thought I was in someone else's bed this morning. I was completely shocked that Kenzo wasn't with Jezz somewhere." I said. "I'm Opal's boss." Kenzo said answering my brothers question.

My eyes went wide as my face heated up again. Kendra giggled. Jed is looking at Kenzo like he couldn't possibly have heard him right.

"Told ya." Marc teased.

"You make out with all of your employees?" Jed asked as he slammed down a pot of coffee.

Kendra rushed over to grab the pot from my brother.

"Be careful you dillhole." She scolded Jed.

"Nope, just Opal." Kenzo said casually.

"Opal must be special." Jed said.

"She is very special." Kenzo replied

Kenzo looked over at me, and gave me a small smile. My body relaxed slightly, and I returned it. Kenzo Suzuki thinks I'm special.

"So special that you take her home after one night at the club. Great." Jed said.

I gave my brother a bored look as I walked over to the table.

"I've taken Opal out before," Kenzo said.

Jed's eyes snapped to mine, and I froze right before I was about to sit down.

"That morning that you came home.. Last weekend.. You were with him?" Jed asked me.

Before I could answer, Kenzo wrapped his arm around my waist. He pulled me down into his lap making my face heat more. Then he kissed my cheek.

"Yes she was," Kenzo said.

"Opal-"

"Okay Jed enough. You are my little brother. I can make my own decisions thank you. This is exactly why I didn't tell you anything. You are way too protective." I complained "I just worry about you," Jed mumbled

"Someone in your family has to." Marc chimed in.

I rolled my eyes.

"Alright, enough." I said with a smile. "I'm fine Jed. I am a big girl, I can handle things. Kenzo is." I trailed off as I looked back at Kenzo. "He's been a perfect gentleman," I said.

"Good girl." Kenzo whispered in my ear, loud enough for only me to hear.

I froze at his words.

"Well then, I guess he wouldn't mind if I asked him a few questions." Jed said as he sat down.

"Jed man, let your sister be happy." Marc said.

"Thank you Marc." I said.

"Well Opal doesn't exactly have the best taste in men, so forgive me if I want to make sure this guy isn't a total douche." Jed replied while keeping his eyes on Kenzo. "Do you have to sit on his lap?" He asked "Yes, I do." I replied snarkily.

Unbelievable. I can't believe Jed is acting this way.

Although, I guess it makes sense. I do have a terrible record of the worst boyfriends ever.

"It's alright Opal. Jed ask away." Kenzo said.

"So, you're her boss. What does that mean exactly? What department do you work in?" Jed asked.

Kendra snorted as she brought her coffee mug to her lips.

"I am the CEO of Suzuki Industries. We are mostly an electronics company, but I am trying to branch out into more businesses." Kenzo answered.

Jed just blinked at Kenzo for a moment.

"No wonder why Jezz was in a sour a.ss mood last night."

He muttered.

"Huh?" I asked.

Jezz couldn't have been that upset. I mean, she gets everything she wants. Plus, our dad gives her all the money she could ever need. What does it matter if one guy turned her down?

"Nothing." Jed said. "So, a CEO. No offense, buuuutt why Opal?" He asked

I smacked my hand to my face.

"Jed." Kendra scolded.

"What? I know that my sister is a catch. She's a great person all around. I want to know what a big-shot CEO sees in her." Jed said.

I looked back at Kenzo.

"You don't have to answer him," I said

Kenzo gave me a small smile, and squeezed my thigh.

"It's alright." He said before turning to my brother. "I met Opal somewhere before she became my secretary. I was interested in her then, but didn't know much about her. I wanted to know more though, so I promoted her in our company." He explained.

"Opal has many admirable traits. She is a hard worker, keeps her chin up when others try to tear her down, she is smart, and kind to everyone. Opal has helped me gain new partnerships. She keeps me on my toes. Always makes sure I eat. And her kindness knows no bounds. It was very easy to start catching feelings for her." He said.

I looked back to my friends and brother as my face heated more. How am I supposed to take time to think when Kenzo says stuff like that? All those sweet words.. I hope he means them.

I have to keep my head on straight though. Kenzo needs to prove to me that he's serious. I can't just fall for pretty words.

"Well, Opal is definitely the nicest person I know. That's why I love her so much." Kendra said.

"Yeah, she's always been like that, but it gets annoying." Marc said.

I gave him a bored look.

"Only because you never stand up for yourself. He told me.

"Whatever." I muttered.

"Well.. All of that is true I guess. Opal is very nice. She's always giving people the benefit of doubt. A lot of peope I take advantage of her because of that." Jed said.

"Okay Jed, enough." I said.

Jed opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, Kenzo's phone started to ring. He pulled it out of his pocket, and looked at the screen. Then he shoved it back in his pocket.

"I gotta go." He said.

I got up from his lap, and Kenzo stood. I walked him to the door, with Jed right behind me. I rolled my eyes, and mouthed I'm sorry to Kenzo.

"I will see you on Monday I guess." I said.

Kenzo smiled as he grabbed my hand.

"Call me later. If you want." He said.

Kenzo kissed the back of my hand, and I watched him walk down the hall.

'You have a lot of explaining to do Op."
