Next One Is a Babe
Chapter 1617

Aurora sighed. "Him? Forget about it. He's zoned out. Got drunk the moment he came back last night and spewed a lot of nonsense. Woke up sober this morning, but he obviously has a hangover."

That immediately reminded Cindy of the nonsense lan told her the night before. She didn't know what to say as well, so she tried her best to come up with an excuse. "Maybe he's not in the mood. He'll be fine in a couple of days."

Aurora shrugged. "He's been this way for days now, so he might drag this out. Not even his friends managed to cheer him up.”

Cindy shut up. She wondered if lan was acting that way because of the news or because of her.

Since Aurora didn't have anyone to talk to, she spilled a lot to Cindy this time. Aurora told her everything that happened since she got to the city with lan the day before, and she even said that all his friends already had their own families, while he was still alone. The sight of that pained her since everyone was having a great time with their families, while lan sat there all by himself.

Cindy didn't see that with her own eyes, but she could imagine how the scene was after hearing it from Aurora, and it was a bit sad. Ian was a man of few words, and if he was left alone, she could imagine him being quiet for the whole meal. That made Cindy sigh.

Then, Aurora said, "He doesn't have anyone to go around with, and I feel lonely. If you don't have anything to do, why don't you come over, Cindy? At least I'll have someone to talk to."

Cindy was surprised that Aurora would bring that up. She would never go back. Now that she was home, she would never go back to lan. Even if she didn't get into a fight with lan, now that she had come back home, she would never go back, not even if Aurora invited her. She knew that she and lan were a fake couple, so she knew what she could and couldn't do. In the end, she smiled. "I can't leave right now. My family's happy that I'm back, and they want me to stay for a while longer. They'd be upset if I leave again."

That was a good reason, so Aurora couldn't insist on her coming back.

Cindy continued, "It'll probably be fine after a while. He's in his comfort zone, so he'll pick himself up after a few days. Don't worry about it, Miss Peyton."

Aurora had no idea how to continue the conversation, so she looked at her son, who was chatting with Logan. That stupid boy. Here I am, worried about him, but there he is, ignoring my efforts. God, isn't he anxious? Everyone else has a family, so why isn't he showing any desire? Aurora stared at Lola's pregnant belly, and she dreamed of having her own grandchild. Doesn't he want to hurry up and marry someone so he can have a child of his own?

While Cindy and Aurora were talking on the phone, lan looked at Aurora when Logan stopped talking. Aurora had no friends, and lan had never seen her calling anyone all this time, nor did anyone call her. Now that he saw Aurora talking to someone on the phone, he knew who was on the other side of the call.

Logan was still talking to him, but lan couldn't hear him. A frown creased his forehead, and he wanted to know what Aurora and Cindy were talking about. But more importantly, Aurora's expression didn't look too good. In fact, she seemed frustrated. Does that mean the conversation isn't going well? That worried lan. If Aurora couldn't be on good terms with Cindy, he could never get her back.
