No More Waiting, She Chooses Love -
Chapter 680
"Felicia, why are you in a wheelchair?"
Conrad Wagner's voice came from the side, and as I turned my head, I saw him and Sinclair Anderson approaching. One wore a white shirt, and the other a black one, their contrasting outfits catching the eye. "It's quite the crowd today," Fanny muttered under her breath.
And indeed, it was! Who would have thought such a small light show could attract so many people? I knew Fanny's comment stemmed from her reluctance to see Sinclair, but he was a client who had come specifically for this light show. Conrad strode over, eyeing my leg. "What happened?"
"Just scraped my knee, nothing serious," I replied lightly.
Conrad clearly didn't believe me, seeing as I was in a wheelchair. "Nothing serious, and you need a wheelchair?"
"Really, it's nothing. I can vouch for that. The wheelchair was your brother's overreaction; he said if Felicia didn't sit, he'd carry her," Fanny interjected, explaining the situation.
My best friend always had my back, effectively silencing Conrad, though his face darkened. Fanny didn't care about Conrad's mood. She would hold a grudge about him hurting me for a lifetime, never hesitating to speak up when necessary. "But this wheelchair is actually pretty handy. It really does help with Felicia's recovery."
Fanny paused. "In terms of being attentive and caring, Mr. Wagner does fall a bit short compared to your brother."
Conrad's jaw tensed, while Sinclair let out a chuckle, breaking the tension. "Where are you guys headed?"
"To check out some hotties," Fanny declared, pushing me toward the backstage area.
Today's light show mainly focused on the lighting effects, with the human light show being the only act involving people. Upon entering backstage, we were greeted by the sight of male models waiting to go on, all dressed and looking indistinguishable at first glance. "Wow, talk about body goals!" Fanny couldn't help but admire.
"Focus on the faces, not the bodies," I reminded her.
"I am, but can we get a bit closer? It's hard to see," Fanny said, stretching to get a better view.
"What are you doing here? Get out, get out," the stage manager, a responsible person, spotted us and began to shoo us away.
"I'm Felicia from Future Tech Solutions Ltd. I'm here to check on the models," I stated coolly.
That seemed to do the trick, given that I was the one footing the bill. "They're about to perform. If you have any instructions, make it quick," the stage manager said, stepping aside to let Fanny push me in front of the models.
They stood in line, allowing me to scrutinize them.
"Ernest?!" Fanny exclaimed upon spotting Phipps.
"He's Phipps," I corrected, looking at the face on stage that resembled Ernest's.
Fanny shook her head. "If he's not Ernest, then I must be seeing things. They're identical."
Indeed, I felt the same. "But he claims
exe's not. Ask him if you
believe me," I suggested, want opt
Fanny's help in verifying.
Fanny released the wheelchair and approached Phipps. "Ernest, are you hiding behind a new name?"
"Miss, my name is Phipps. I don't know who this Ernest is," Phipps replied firmly.
Fanny turned back to me, evidently shaken by Phipps's voice. His voice was significantly different from Ernest's.
"Ernest, you can't fool anyone with a voice changer," Fanny said as she
reached out to touch Phivel?ge
throat, trying to detect any voice-changing device.
But Phipps dodged. "Miss, we can talk, no need to get physical, okay?"
