Not His Type Of Mate
Chapter 124

Alpha Leo's POV

I was pacing around my room, thinking about a lot of things, but one of the things that stood up was the thought of Ava. Ever since I pushed her away that day she kissed me, she never showed up in front of me and it was somehow worrying because I felt like I was too harsh on her that day. "She's a girl, you shouldn't have pushed her so hard." Ethan kept saying to me since then and I've been feeling guilty.

I didn't push her away because I hated her. "I only pushed her away like that because I just encountered heartbreak and the pain is still there. I can't move on so soon." I replied to Ethan worriedly. "Heartbreak? Having another girl beside you after heartbreak was supposed to be the best antidote, isn't that true?" Ethan joked and I rolled my eyes, "You're a big pervert." I cursed and rolled my eyes again. "I don't romantically see Ava. I like her a lot, but I've never thought of her that way and it was shocking the way she just came up to me that day... It was... was..." I stopped and ran my fingers through my hair.

I walked back to my bed and sat in it. "I'm done with this conversation, Ethan. I want to rest now." I said as I ended the mind link with my wolf and relaxed my head in my bed. I was just closing my eyes when I heard a knock on the door, and I grunted. "Who's there?" I asked. "My Lord, I'm here with your wine." I heard a maid's voice and my eyes twitched. I had totally forgotten that I asked for a red wine, though. "Come in," I said, and the door opened. The maid came in and dropped the wine on the table. "This is it, My lord." The maid said with her head bowed, and I nodded, stretching out my hand to her. "Give that to me." I said to her as I felt too tired to stand up. The maid handed the cup to me and I took a sip. "My Lord, Miss Ava is downstairs asking for you." She said and I raised a brow. "Ava?" I asked.

"Yes, My lord. She's been there for minutes already, but I decided to give you your wine first." The maid explained, and I nodded my head.

"Tell her to come in," I told the maid and the maid left the room.

Minutes later, Ava came into my room after a knock and bowed. "It's nice seeing you again, Alpha Leo." She greeted me with a smile on her face, and I smiled. "It's nice seeing you, Ava." What are you up to? You haven't been here for the past few days and I felt like it's not like you." I mumbled and she was quiet for a while... I was feeling awkward too because memories of what happened between us a few days ago kept playing in my mind.

She smiled. "That's because you never asked for my service." She replied and the expression on her face indicated she wasn't happy, which made me feel guilty. "The thing is..." I mumbled and sighed. "What happened a few days ago was not my intention. I didn't mean to be that harsh, it was just that I wasn't in my right mind due to Nora's situation and all but..." She waved her hand, stopping me from going further. "It's okay. You don't have to explain. Let's just forget it." She said and I sighed.

I was about to continue speaking when I realized I was feeling pressed, so I stood up and dropped my red wine. "I'm going to ease myself. I will be back." I said to her, and she nodded before I turned away and entered the bathroom.

I came out of the bathroom minutes later and met her sitting on a couch in my room. "You didn't even tell her to sit," Ethan said to me, and I groaned. "I was just too preoccupied." I justified myself before sitting in my bed. "Hope you're good?" I asked, and she nodded with a smile.

I picked up my drink and was about to sip it when Ava teleported to my side and grabbed the cup. "What..." I was still about to ask when she slammed the cup on the ground and the loud sound of the cup shattering resounded all over the room. "What's this, Ava? What have you done?" I asked her with an anger filled voice, and she took a few steps back. "The wine... has been poisoned." She mumbled and I raised a brow. "Poison? What do you mean? I've been drinking the wine before you entered, so how is it poisoned?" I questioned, not believing what she said because I knew there was no way my maids would poison me.

"I poisoned it." She said and I frowned. I shook my head in disbelief. "This... can't be true. Are you joking?" I questioned, hoping she was just playing some pranks, but the seriousness on her face was saying otherwise, and I was shocked. "I poisoned the wine when you entered the bathroom because I wanted to kill you. I came here today with the mission to kill you." She explained to me.

I was dumbfounded, I couldn't believe I had heard her right... Like, I was completely speechless and all I could do was stare at her like she was a cinema because if I was to say anything, I might just have her killed. "You..." I stopped as I stood up from my bed but I stopped as she seemed to still have a lot to say.

"Remember the story I told you about my mother when we met? They are not entirely true, and the lady you see as my mother is my mom's younger sister who started taking care of me after my mum died." She said and I was surprised. "During the trial after my mum was framed, she was put in the dungeon while she waited for judgment, but your father seemed to be mesmerized by her beauty, and he... He..." She stopped as tears ran down her face. She looked so pained and pitiful that I felt the urge to hug and tell her it was going to be fine, but something else clouded me, and I was confused. What did my father do? How did my father know her mother?

"Your father raped my mother and killed her! He took her away from me! He made me... He made me lose my mother when I was still so young. It... was painful... It was so painful that I promised myself that when I grow up, I would kill every member of his family, I would destroy everything he ever had and I decided to start with you. That was why I came into your life." She added.

It was like cold water was poured on my head as I staggered backward. Never in my dreams would I have expected my father to do such a thing to a woman.

I couldn't find my tongue for a while... I was guilty... guilty over what I knew nothing of. Guilty over what I didn't do... I felt sorry. "Ava...I called but then it dawned on me that she was right... she was supposed to revenge but then...

"I should have killed you. I had numerous opportunities to kill you, but I couldn't. The fire outbreak then, I wanted to use that opportunity to kill you, but I couldn't. There were times I had wanted to kill you, but I couldn't do it. Today too, I wanted to poison you but I could not. All because... because I had fallen in love with you. I'm in love with you, Alpha Leo!" She revealed!

If being dumbfounded was a disease, I was sure I would be dead already because I had been dumbfounded more than a thousand times within a few minutes. "You... You love me?" I questioned as it was too much to believe. She never acted like this before. She never even acted like she liked me, and this was so surprising that I had my mouth open agape.

Ava nodded her head. "Even though I knew you were in love with someone else. Even though I knew you might never love me back, I still kept loving you. I couldn't stop myself from loving you... It's hard, so difficult, but I still can't stop loving you." She revealed, but I just kept staring at her. For some minutes, I couldn't say a word and by the time I found my tongue, she lowered her head and teleported away without waiting for me to give her a reply to her confession.

"She left..." Ethan announced and I nodded my head. "She left... I don't know what to say or what to think. She could have waited for me to give her a reply but..." I stopped when I remembered what she said about her mother's death. "I should meet Mum," I said to Ethan and as I left my room.

I went in search of my mother and fortunately, I saw her sitting in her room. "Leo." She called the moment she saw me and as expected, she noticed the expression on my face. "What's wrong, son?" She asked as I sat beside her.

"Mum, do you know about Dad raping a woman to death?" I asked my mother, and she was shocked, but what made my heart sink was the look on her face that made me realized she knew about it, and it was the truth!
