Not His Type Of Mate -
Chapter 151
Nora's
POV
I woke up the following morning, feeling great and excited. It was my son's birthday, so I felt happier than usual. I climbed down from my bed and left the room. I had to be the first person to wish him. Entering his room, I realized he was already awake and staring at the door, probably waiting for me to come and wish him. I revealed a smile as I walked toward him. "Good morning, Mum," he greeted as I sat beside him. I helped him sit up in his bed, kissed his forehead, and hugged him. "Happy birthday, my son. It's the beginning of a wonderful year, baby. Mommy is proud to have you," I said to him as I broke the hug and kissed his forehead again.
"Thanks, Mum. I'm happy to have you too. I love you, Mum," he said, and my heart melted. I hugged him again and stroked his hair. "Mommy loves you more, darling," I said to him and broke the hug again. "Are you ready for the day?" I asked cheerfully, and he laughed. "Of course, Mum. I can't be more ready," he joked, earning himself a low chuckle from me.
I removed the blanket that I had covered him with last night to reveal his legs. I was about to help him out of bed when I remembered something and stopped. "Are you happy with the small birthday party that we will be having this year? I know I've always celebrated it well for you, but this time around, we will be throwing a small party. Are you excited?" I asked him, a little worried about his feelings regarding the birthday preparations.
He smiled at me and nodded. "Sure, Mum. I'm excited. I like everything you do for me because I know you love me so much," he replied, warming my heart again. Julius was the most precious gift to me, and I was glad to have him in my life. "Don't worry, son. I will make sure you enjoy the party," I assured him, and he nodded. "Again, I'm sorry we're not celebrating your birthday in London this year. Your friends aren't here, so they won't be attending. I'm sorry, my boy," I said to him, but he only shrugged and looked at me with clear and excited eyes. "Don't worry about me, Mum. I'm perfectly fine with this party. I'm fine with my friends not coming either," he replied.
"That's why you're Mom's best boy!" I cheered, and he laughed. He suddenly stopped laughing and looked at me. "Mum," he called, and I frowned as I stared back at him. Whatever he wanted to say seemed serious, and I wondered what it could be. "Where is my gift? Will you bring it for me today?" he asked, and my heart sank. I knew what he was asking about, but I feigned ignorance and gave him a questioning look. "What do you mean? Which gift is that?" I asked, but before he could reply, I slapped my forehead gently and giggled. "My bad. I will get you a big gift later in the evening, okay?" I said to him, but he shook his head. I
He wasn't going to buy my lies. "I told you I don't need any gift, Mum. Just show me my dad, and I will be alright for the day. The only gift I want is seeing my father," he explained to me. Even though his voice was calm, I could sense his frustration, and I knew he wasn't pleased with me. I thought about what to say for a while before letting out a deep breath and placing my hands on his shoulders. "I know you want to see your dad, but why don't you relax for now, enjoy your birthday, and let's talk about that later in the evening?" I tried persuading him, and he agreed. "Okay then. We will talk about it again in the evening," he replied, and I smiled at him, relived that he agreed with me.
I nodded and looked around the room for a moment before returning my attention to him. "Your birthday clothes are in the wardrobe. Would you like me to help you bathe, or will you do that yourself?" I asked since he was quite particular. He looked at me and made a small pout. "Do you think I'm a baby? I'm a big boy now, Mum. I can bathe myself," he said, and I laughed. I stood up from his bed, bent down to kiss his forehead again, and said, "I'm leaving now. I'll be back. I need to check on the preparations downstairs. We can't afford to make any mistakes on my prince's birthday, can we?" He laughed and replied, "Of course. Make sure everything is perfect." With that, I left the room.
Walking down the stairs, my eyes lit up when I saw Maxwell and some people decorating the area where the party would take place. "Good morning, Maxwell," I greeted, and he smiled. "Good morning, Nora. Did you sleep well?" he asked, and I nodded. "Good morning, everyone," I greeted those in the room, and they responded. I looked around the room again and was impressed. They were almost done, but there were still a few things that needed more attention. I walked toward the table where the cake would be placed and began decorating it. "Maxwell, how about the cake?" I asked, and he turned to face me. "They're working on it. It should be ready soon," he said, and I nodded. I continued decorating the table and humming to myself when I received a signal through the mind link. "Maddison?" I called out loud and frowned. "What is it this time?" I asked, feeling annoyed by the interruption.
"I've received the email you sent to me," he said, and I rolled my eyes. "So? Does the certificate make it clear to you now that the boy is not yours? Will you believe me now and stop pestering my life with your absurd speculations?" I questioned him, annoyance in my voice, and he fell silent for a moment. "So, you were telling the truth when you said the boy is not mine. The child is really not mine? He is really a product of a one-night stand?" he inquired, and I felt a knot in my stomach, but I suppressed my anger and responded. "Yes. He is not yours, Maddison," I replied, chuckling to myself. "I know his father, and you are not his father. I hope you can be at peace with yourself now and stop troubling yourself with unnecessary matters," I said, ending the mind link. I continued decorating the remaining items with the others, and about 30 minutes later, we were done. "We should go and take our baths now," I said to Maxwell, who agreed. "Yes, but I need to check on Julius first," he replied, and I nodded before heading to my room. A few hours later, people were arriving for the birthday party. The few people we invited had already arrived with their well-wishes and gifts. The room was getting crowded, and I was pleased. "Hey, Nora!" I heard Dora's voice, and my eyes widened. She rushed toward me and hugged me tightly. "It's been so long. How have you been?" she questioned, and I laughed. "I've been very well. How about you?" I asked in return, and she turned around for me to see. She was glowing and looking even prettier. Life must have been treating her well, which made me happy for her.
We were still discussing and catching up on the things we've missed in each other's lives when Maxwell came downstairs with Julius. We sang a long and hearty birthday song for him, and I could feel his excitement. He was smiling so brightly that I felt joyous just looking at him. "Your son is so handsome," Dora complimented, and I agreed with her. Staring at him closely, one would realize that he looked like Maddison and also a little bit like me, which made me very proud. I was still gazing at my son when I felt a familiar presence in the room. I turned my head only to see Alpha Leo in the room.
I was surprised, and I walked toward him and bowed. "You're here. It's so nice to have you here, Alpha Leo," I said to him politely, and he smiled. "Yeah, I'm happy to be here too," he replied. Julius walked toward us and greeted him. "Your son? He looks so handsome," he commented, and I smiled. Julius smiled too and came to stand beside me. I was still discussing with Alpha Leo when Maddison entered the room, and my eyes widened. I was stunned for a moment, but I quickly composed myself. I pulled Julius to stand behind me, but he was staring at Maddison, just as I was staring at him. He stood on the other side of the room and stared back at us.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him through our mind link, and he shrugged. "I'm here because Julius invited me," he replied, and I frowned. I wanted to go and send him away, but I didn't want to create a scene either, so I decided to let him be. I would talk to him when the party comes to an end.
"It's time to cut the cake," Julius said to me as he walked toward the stage. He picked up the knife and was about to cut the cake when he suddenly dropped the knife and slumped to the floor.
