Not His Type Of Mate -
Chapter 161
Nora's
POV
I was in my room, packing my clothes after I finished packing Julius's clothes, when I heard a knock on the door. "Come in," I said, as I already knew who it was. Maxwell entered and walked toward me. "You're still packing?" He asked, and I nodded. He sat on my bed right in front of me and looked at me keenly. "Are you sure about this? Do you think this is right?" He asked me, and I paused. I dropped the gown I was folding and sat beside him. "I hate to do this too, but I don't want to stay away from my son. Letting my son live in that house without me will make him drift away from me. I don't want that," I replied to him, and he sucked in a deep breath.
"I hope all will be well. I want you to know that I will always be here for you. Whenever you need my help, whatever it is, I will make sure to do it for you. Remember that I'm always here for you, okay?" He said to me, and my heart melted. I smiled and nodded my head before standing up. I quickly packed my things and turned to face him. "I'm done packing. Will you help me take them down to his place?" I asked, and he nodded. "Sure. I will do that," he said and carried one of my bags. "I will carry this for you and send two maids to carry the rest. Wait here for them," he said as he left my room.
I waited a little, and the door opened again, revealing two maids who walked to my side and bowed. "We are asked to help you with your things," they said politely, and I nodded my head. They carried the bags and led the way, while I followed closely, and we all went to meet Maxwell, who was patiently waiting for us downstairs. With the help of the two maids, we were able to get the bags into the car, and I entered too. "Everything is set?," Maxwell asked, and I nodded before he started the engine, and we left for Madison's mansion.
The drive there was silent, but I sensed thousands of words in Maxwell's silence. Even though he wasn't saying anything, he was expressing a lot through his expression, and I knew he was worried. He was worried about me, and it made my heart race, too. We arrived at the mansion, and he dropped me off. "Bye, Maxwell," I said to him, and he waved back before driving away. Some maids walked over to me and collected my things while I walked into the mansion with them.
The first person I saw was Maddison's mother, who walked over to me and hugged me. "Welcome back home, Nora. It's so good to have you back," she said, and I smiled. We broke the hug, and I gave her a slight bow. "It's nice seeing you too, Ma'am. How have you been?" I asked, and she chuckled. "This old body of mine has been causing quite a ruckus, but it's been well," she joked, and I laughed. "Ma'am, where is Julius? Is he here already?" I asked. I already knew Maddison would have informed his mother about my son and me. She looked toward the stairs and smiled. "He just came in with his dad. He should be in his room," she told me, and I smiled. "Alright, thanks, Ma'am," I said and walked past her. I was about to start climbing the stairs when I saw Maddison coming down the stairs, so I moved back to stand with his mother.
He looked at me but looked away without saying a word or even smiling at me. "Should I take you to the guest room?" His mother asked, and I smiled. "I'd appreciate it," I said. "No, she will be staying in the room with me," Maddison suddenly interjected, and my brow furrowed. I turned to look at him and asked, "What do you mean? What are you saying? What are you up to?" But all he did was turn and return upstairs. I followed him and went upstairs. "What are you doing, Madison? Why should we use the same room?" I asked him, and he turned to face me.
"I'm not doing this for any reason. I'm only trying to be considerate to my son. I don't want to create a bad impression on him by staying apart from his mom. He wouldn't be happy with that," he replied, and I twitched my eyes. "What do you mean? Julius already knows we are not together. What are you saying?" I asked him. "Well... You can treat Julius however way you want, but I will raise him the way I want to, and I won't let him have the impression of a broken home when he is still so young," he replied, and I frowned. I had a lot to say, but I refused to speak and walked toward the bags that were already placed at the center of the room and started unpacking.
Maddison walked toward me and stood beside me. "About the divorce paper, I will send it to you for signing the moment I get it. I want you to sign it then," he said, and my heart sank, but I nodded without saying anything and walked past him toward the closet. I opened it while dragging my bags along with me. I entered the closet and started arranging my clothes, but then I saw my old clothes - the ones I wore four years ago - still neatly arranged in the closet, I was surprised. It was like I had been wearing them. The clothes were neat, which amazed me. I looked at other things like shoes, bags, and the rest of the things I didn't take with me four years ago, only to see that they were all neat. No dust, nothing. They were neat and looked new.
I stood there, staring at the items, and also wondering why Maddison did all that when he hated me so much. That was when Lolita spoke up. "Can't you see that Madison still loves you? Why are you acting like this? Why can't you talk to him like a mature person? I believe everything will be solved if you do this," she advised. But I remained silent for a while before I walked toward my clothes stand and started arranging my things. I arranged everything and returned to the room, where I saw Maddison sitting in front of his system, fully focused on his work. I looked around the room, and my eyes caught something on the bedside table. I walked toward it and my eyes widened when I saw it was our wedding picture. I picked it up and stared at it, surprised that I didn't notice it the first time I came there. Unknowingly, a smile bloomed on my face, and my heart melted. I took a deep breath and turned to look at Maddison. "Why do you still have this here?" Thinking about it, I had no idea why he would keep my things intact in his house when I left four years ago, and we had acted like enemies ever since.
He turned to look at me and was quiet for a while before he sighed.
"We are still married, Nora. I will remove them all after we divorce," he said to me and returned to his work. I stared at the picture again and sighed.
