Chapter 12

LILIANA POV

The look of Luna Elizabeth made tears fill my eyes. She looked so small, so broken in the hospital bed. She was still in a deep sleep, probably from all the medication. I took a seat next to her bed and brushed some of her beautiful brown hair out of her face. I winced at all the cuts and bruises that marred her pretty face. I looked up towards the doorway making sure no one was paying attention. I took her swollen, cut up hand in mine and concentrated. I focused hard on the desire to heal her, make her whole again. I took deep breaths, in and out, then I felt it. The little vibrations hummed through my hands and into her body. I smiled as the little cuts and bruises on her face began to heal up. Her face that was once pale and almost lifeless, grew pink once more. I pulled my hands away from hers, hoping I didn't heal her too much. I heard a low groan escape her lips.

"Luna Elizabeth?" I spoke quietly.

"Where am I?" She groaned, gently rubbing her eyes.

"You're in the pack hospital, you were attacked by rogues." She looked around, her eyes slowly adjusting to her settings.

"Where's Ethan?" Her eyes brimmed with tears.

"H-he was there, he fought them, is he okay?" Her words broke, tears rolled down her cheeks.

"He's fine, I promise, he's with other Alphas to discuss the rogue attacks." I gently stroked her hand, I felt that familiar buzzing, I focused it on helping her calm down. It worked, I heard her heart go back to a steady rhythm. She let out a deep sigh. "I have no idea what I'd do if something happened to him." She stared up at the ceiling blankly.

"You don't have to worry about that, he's perfectly fine." I smiled as I squeezed her hand reassuringly.

"Who are you?" She asked with her brows slightly furrowed.

"Oh I'm sorry, I'm Liliana Woods, I used to live in this pack until I met my mate. Now I live in Dark Wood pack." She nodded her head as she listened.

"Did Ethan send you?" When she looked in my eyes I noticed some blood vessels in her eyes had popped. It gave the whites of her eyes an odd reddish pink hue.

"No, I came on my own, I didn't want to just sit around in the pack house while my mate was in a meeting."

"You're a Luna?" She asked, but it was almost worded as a fact.

"I'm the soon to be Luna of Dark Wood." And possibly Crystal River, but I didn't say that out loud.

"I can feel it in the air around you, you hold power." I leaned back a little in shock at her words.

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know, but you feel different than other wolves, maybe it's because you're half vampire. I've never met a hybrid before." She smiled weakly at me.

"Does it make you uncomfortable?" I bit the inside of my mouth.

"No, I grew up in a diverse pack, we accept everyone." She squeezed my hand, honesty shone in her deep brown eyes.

"You're going to be an amazing Luna." I smiled.

"So are you." She replied. I gasped when I felt an odd sensation in my neck and my brain immediately screamed Diego. I tried to reach out to him with my mind, but it felt like he was sleeping.

"I'm sorry, Luna Elizabeth, I have to go, I'll let Ethan know you're awake." I said as I jumped to my feet and hurried out the door.

"Luna, what's wrong?" Eric asked as I accidentally bumped into him.

"It's Diego, something isn't right." I felt tears start to slip down my cheeks.

"Let's go." I moved so I could lead the way back to the pack house. I felt my body vibrate with the urge to shift, but I pushed it down. I need to be in the right mind to find him.

DIEGO POV

I couldn't keep my eyes off of Rafael the entire meeting and neither could he keep his eyes off me. There was a look of distaste in his eyes, like I disgusted him, it sent a stab straight to my heart. Once the meeting was finished I headed to the restroom to freshen up and throw some water in my face. On the first floor of the pack house they had a giant restroom with stalls, most packs were like this. It made it more convenient for when visitors were over or when throwing huge events with lots of people. I felt him before he said anything, I looked up into the mirror, my gold eyes meeting his silver ones.

"Rafael." I spoke in a low voice.

"Don't say my name." He snarled at me in Spanish, coming closer. I turned to face him, I had some effect on him, I saw it in his eyes. He was a large Alpha, he towered over my six foot two height, he was probably six foot five. His shoulders were broader, he wore a simple black shirt with dark denim jeans. "Rafael." I repeated his name just to be defiant. I watched him close his eyes, a slight shiver ran through his body. When he opened his eyes they held anger and I couldn't help myself. I reached up, gently cupping his cheek. The sparks jolted up my arm and ran down my spine. A mixture of a gasp and a moan escaped his lips, I looked down, noticing the thickness in his jeans.

"Diego." My eyes snapped up to his when my name rolled off his tongue. He stepped closer and I took a step back, I felt the counter behind me. His arms landed on the counter on either side of me, boxing me in. His head dipped, coming close to mine, my eyes rolled closed, anticipating his lips on mine. My eyes shot open when I felt a pinch in my neck. He stepped back, his look of disgust had returned. My eyes dropped to his left hand, he was holding a now empty syringe.

"You thought I'd kiss you? Accept you with open arms?" I stared in shock as I cupped my neck, the room slowly started to blur.

"Why?" I mumbled, trying to focus on not passing out.

"Oh you'll find out soon enough." He smiled deviously, it was the last thing I saw before everything went black. RAFAEL POV

I caught Diego just before he hit the tiled floor. I clenched my teeth as the sparks spread over my skin.

Santi. I said through the link

Yes, Alpha? He replied instantly.

Get the car ready at the side of the pack house, quickly. Have the trunk open and ready. I didn't wait for his reply, I threw Diego over my shoulder and peaked out into the hall. The restrooms were conveniently next to the side doors. I checked both ways before I briskly crossed the hall. Santiago was backing just as I stepped out the doors. Popping the trunk of the black Lexus, I laid Diego inside. I directed Santiago to pull back in front of the building as I slipped back inside to find Alma. She wasn't hard to miss with her dark brown hair and obnoxious blonde highlights.

"There you are baby, where'd you run off to?" She asked with a slight pout.

"Restroom, let's go." I gripped her underarm and pulled her towards the door. I ignored her complaining that I was holding her too tightly, rolling my eyes at her annoying voice. I held the door open, allowing her to sit in the backseat and took my own seat up front. My fingers drummed against my thigh with anxiety as we drove back to the pack lands. I knew he wouldn't wake up, but I felt myself worrying that I gave him too strong of a dose. Or worried he might suffocate in the truck. I shook myself mentally, I shouldn't care about that s**t. I shouldn't care about him, there's no way he was my mate. I like women, I've always liked women there was no question about it. When I thought about it my mind brought up a vague memory of the last time I saw Diego. I had been maybe fifteen or sixteen at the time, it was when his father ended our allyship with my pack. I remember Diego's golden eyes raking up and down my body, I think he was seventeen at the time. I had felt something when he looked at me... My jaw clenched at the memory, there's no way, my memory must be wrong. I've never had feelings for another man, especially Diego Martinez, my enemy.

LILIANA POV

Tears were streaming down my face as Eric and I sat in Ethan's office. Ethan and Eric were currently scanning through the security footage of the pack house.

"There, right there!" Eric pointed at one of the squares on the large screen. Ethan double clicked on it, blowing it up. It showed Rafael with Diego slung over his shoulder. A black car reversed up to him, I gasped when I watched him place Diego in the trunk and close "Why would Rafael Garcia kidnap Diego?" Ethan asked with furrowed brows. I made eye contact with Eric, he gave me a look that told me he knew. Eric knew that Rafael was also my mate.

"I don't know." I lied to Ethan.

"But Eric and I are going to find out." I said with determination.

"Do you need me to come?" Ethan asked with worry in his voice.

"I don't think so, I can't say too much, but I think I know why he did this." Ethan gave me a look that said he wanted to know more, but nodded anyway.

"Give me a call if you need back up, Lili." I smiled at him.

"I will, thank you, Ethan." I nodded to Eric and turned towards the door, he was hot on my heels.

"What's the plan, Luna?" He asked as we hurried down the stairs.

"We're going to Crystal River and we're going to get our Alpha back." I replied with determination in my voice.
