One Girl Two Mates -
Chapter 2
DIEGO POV
I watched as the forest blurred together out the window. Tonight was Alpha Ethan's twenty second birthday, all the neighboring packs were invited. I hoped that tonight I would finally find her... or him, my mate. I never was picky with my lovers, enjoying both men and women's company. Some people used titles, I didn't care much to throw a title on my love or s*x life. I'm going to be twenty five in three months, my stomach twisted. Normally if a wolf didn't find a mate by that time they picked a chosen mate. My jaw clenched at the idea of choosing someone instead of finding the one that the Goddess made for me. My mother was pushing for me to take the daughter of a neighboring Alpha. She knew how the discussion made me feel. Stephanie was a lovely girl, she was very beautiful, but I knew my mate was out there waiting for me somewhere. "Stuck in your thoughts, brother?" Valentina, my younger sister asked, sitting across from me in the limo.
"Yes, I just want to find my mate, I hope this is the night, finally." I sighed.
"I hope I find mine too." She whispered as she gazed out the window. Valentina turned eighteen last month and was devastated when she realized her boyfriend wasn't her mate. They felt so certain, but when her birthday came around she felt nothing. "We'll find them, I'm hopeful, it's a good night. The moon is full and high in the sky." I sent her a reassuring smile. Soon when pulled up in front of the large pack house. The Midnight Moon pack was about the same size as my pack, Dark Wood. They were our closest allies, their former Luna, Ethan's mother, was from my pack.
"I heard Ethan found his mate, it's a shame, I kinda wish he was my mate." Valentina huffed next to me. I rolled my eyes at her pouty behavior.
"There's going to be plenty Alpha's, Valentina, there's still hope you'll snag one of them." I laughed as we handed our coats to the omegas waiting at the front door. Valentina stiffened next to me, her eyes went wide.
"Valentina? Are you okay?" I reached for her, but she was gone before I could grab her.
"Valentina!" I yelled as I followed her through the crowd. Suddenly she stopped, I almost slammed into the back of her.
"Hey, what's going on?" I asked as I laid my hand on her shoulder. I heard a threatening growl over the sound of the crowd. I looked to see the Gamma of Crystal River pack, glaring daggers at me. "Mate." Valentina whispered.
"Get your hands off of my mate!" He snapped as he stalked towards us.
"What makes you think I want to be your mate?" He halted at Valentina's words, hurt shone in his eyes. He looked between us, finally realizing who we were.
"Oh, it's you." He sneered. Crystal River pack sat right next to Dark Woods pack, but we weren't allies. They looked down on us like we were the scum of the earth, why? Because we accepted mates that were out of our race. We lived in peace with humans and vampires, even though vampires were supposed to be our natural enemy. Our former Luna, my mother, is actually a human.
"Why did I have to be mated to an a*****e?" Valentina cried, tears slipping down her cheeks. Hurt flashed in his eyes, his sneer dropped slightly.
"Valentina..." I reached for her, but she ran. I followed her once again pushing through the crowd, almost knocking a waiter over in the process. I found her sitting in the garden, her light blue dress fanned out around her as she sat on the grass. I sat down next to her, not caring if I was ruining my suit.
"Hey." I said as I pulled her next to me.
"I just had to be mated to one of them." She hissed as she cried into the grass, leaning forward, clutching her chest.
"Are you... are you going to reject him?" I asked quietly.
"I don't know, I-I'm so torn. I want nothing more than to run into his arms, but I know what they're like." She gripped the grass and took steadying breaths. "Hey, let's get back in there and party a little, okay?" I said as I brushed a tear off of her cheek.
"I'm gonna show him what he's missing." She inhaled deeply and stormed back into the house. I chuckled as I followed her inside, grabbing a glass of champagne on my way. I watched as Valentina let loose, throwing back shot after shot. Dancing with any guy that looked her way. I kept my eye out for her i***t mate, making sure he wasn't going to do anything stupid. I was chuckling at my sister's wild behavior when it hit me. The smell of roses and fresh mint, my heart thudded in my chest.
"Valentina, I'll be right back." She just nodded and waved her hand dismissively. I let my nose lead me, my heart hammering as I got closer. Could this be it? Is this the smell of my mate? Everything in my body screamed yes. I halted when I saw her, she wasn't in a cocktail dress like the other women. She wore black slacks that cupped her perfectly shaped a*s. Her white button up and vest molded against her full breasts, like it was painted on her skin. Her long black hair was pulled in a high ponytail, leaving her glorious neck bare to me. I wanted to run to her and sink my teeth into her pale, creamy skin. It was as if the world stopped around me, she'd finally turned and our eyes met. Her green eyes pulled me in, beckoning me to go to her.
"Mate." I growled as I stood before her. I was surprised to see fear in those beautiful emerald orbs.
"I-I..." She stammered, slowly backing away.
"Wait!" I called as she ran off, quickly running after her.
RAFAEL POV
I sat at the bar throwing back drink after drink, scanning the crowd for someone to warm my bed tonight. I'd caught the eyes of a sexy blonde when Javier, my Gamma, appeared out of nowhere. "Dude, move." I shoved him slightly.
"I found my mate." He said absently as he stiffly sat next to me.
"Is she hot?" I chuckled, getting a growl from him in response.
"She's the sister of Alpha Diego." I sat up straight, turning to look him in the eyes.
"What are you going to do?" I raised my brow.
"I don't know dude, they're freaks, but god she's beautiful." He had a dreamy look in his eyes, pathetic. Mates just make you weak, my parents are the perfect example. My mother was killed in a rogue attack four years ago. My father lost himself, he became a shell of the man he once was. I had to take over the pack at twenty years old with barely any help. I had to raise my two siblings after he died a year later of cardiac arrest. The mate bond killed my father, I swore after that, that I'd never accept my mate. I didn't need the stupid bond holding me back or controlling my life. I threw back the rest of my rum and coke. I stood, making my way over to the sexy blonde.
"Hey handsome." She purred, pressing her large breasts together. I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and leaned forward.
"Wanna get out of here?" She shivered at the feel of my breath on her neck.
"Yes." She moaned slightly. I held out my hand, helping her stand, and led her towards the front door. As we neared the door I suddenly felt a pounding in my chest. What the hell? It hit me, the smell of roses and fresh mint. The smell was mixed with earthy tones, sending me into a frenzy.
"You okay, baby?" The blonde that I forgot was next to me spoke. I tuned her out, I needed to find out what this smell was and why it made my mouth water. I turned the corner into the foyer and my knees almost buckled from under me. There she stood, her green eyes penetrating me, round with shock. A growl ripped through me when I saw him, Alpha Diego was standing there caressing her arm.
"Mate." I said, shocking myself at my possessiveness.
LILIANA POV
My heart hammered in my chest, my body screaming at me to turn back around. I was pulled to a stop by a large warm hand sending tingles across my skin.
"Why do you run from me, mate?" His deep voice made my knees weak. He towered over me, he looked like a god. I wondered how I ever found Ethan attractive when this man exists. His skin was a creamy caramel color, his golden, honey eyes bore into mine. His facial features were all soft and inviting. He appeared to have long hair, it was bundled into a bun at the back of his head. I wonder what it felt like to run my fingers through it. My attention was driven to my left when the smell of fresh rain mixed with his woodsy scent. It was intoxicating. My head turned at the sound of a growl, meeting silver eyes. My mouth went dry when I saw him. His skin was a dark caramel, just a few shades darker than the man before me. His face was sharp, almost scary. He had short brown hair, it looked like he constantly ran his fingers through it. His eyes stayed locked on mine, was this possible?
"Mate." He said with possessiveness thick in his voice. It was too much, next thing I knew the room spun and everything went black.
