But when I didn't get a response...

"Alright, you better look for a new supplier that will give you a big discount because I'm backing off!"

"Hey! Fine! I'm now zipping my lips!" And he pretended as if he was closing his mouth through an invisible zipper.

"Good!" I chuckled but he just rolled his eyes.

SAM's POV:

Two years ago, when I asked him to sign the divorce paper I gave him, I already expected that in our next meeting, it would be the most awkward situation we will face in our life... to meet again the person who has been a part of my life and once wanted to forget. I thought it would be difficult for me to face him again, but I was wrong.

Because when we met the other day, I didn't expect to feel so comfortable talking to him. The way we talked to each other was something I longed to happen when I was still with him. Awkwardness never interrupted our way not even when I opened how I still can remember almost everything about him... from his favorite shirt, coffee blend and so many things about him that seemed to be embedded into the farthest corner of my heart.

He's still as handsome as he was before but I think I like the way he looks now. Maturity does suit him even the five o'clock shadow that just added to his oozing sex appeal.

"Haist!" I sighed loudly as I put the glass in the sink. Dana and I had just finished our dinner and were getting ready for sleep.

"And what was that sigh for?"

"Huh?" I was startled when she stood next to me and put her plate on the sink. She has a suspicious grin on her face as she waited for my response.

"I said what was the meaning of your loud sigh? Your thoughts seemed occupied with something or should I say with someone," she smirked.

"Haha..." I avoided her gaze. "Let's just go to bed and sleep because I still have to attend the early Sunday mass tomorrow while you also have to get up early for the photoshoot."

"Tss!" She glanced at the round clock hanging just above the fridge and sneered at me. "Come on, it's only 9 pm, it's still early."

"I have nothing to say to you. "I shrugged.

"Oh, Samantha Soriano, even if you don't open your mouth I know what's occupying your mind or should I say... 'who' is occupying your mind." She said with a smirk and followed me into the living room.

"Then why are you still asking?" I uttered unconsciously and it's too late to realize it as she already screamed and jumped onto the couch next to me.

-'Haist!' - I suddenly want to regret why I agreed to let her sleep in my apartment for the whole week.

"Oh, my God, so I was right!" She raised an eyebrow while looking at me suspiciously as if I had done something naughty.

"What? I didn't say anything." I avoided her gaze.

"Haha... I know you didn't." and she said shaking her head as she giggled at me.

But after a few seconds...

"Come on, Sam, you know I won't judge you." I bit my lower lip when I glanced at her and saw her serious face.

"What do you want me to say?"

"Everything that's inside you." She shrugged. "I know how surprised you were when you met him the other day. Well, we were also surprised to know he was your husband. Imagine, the man you had been avoiding for almost two years was just a few meters away from you?" "Yeah, I didn't expect to see him that soon and it never occurred to my mind they would extend their business here in the Philippines."

"Hmm... Maybe you were meant to be together." She blurted out that making me choke with my own saliva.

"Wow! I think you should also be a writer because you like to imagine and create things in your head." I couldn't help laughing at her, but she just ignored me and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Sam, there's nothing wrong with what I said. What if you really meant for each other and what if this is what fate really planned for the two of you?"

"Fate really planned--- my God, what do you mean?" my eyebrows almost formed a straight line. "If that is so, then why did we end up being divorced, huh?"

"That's what I'm saying! Maybe that's also God's plan for you to know yourself better. Come to think of it, if you hadn't experienced all those things in the past, you wouldn't know or you wouldn't have discovered the things that you're still capable of, besides, you will never be the Sam I know today if you were just stuck in your past."

I sighed and couldn't help but think of what she had just said. She has a point.

"But what if the reason why our paths crossed again is to test us again?"

"And what do you mean to test you again? What for and what's the point? You're now both grown adults and I'm sure after what you've been through, you can now face whatever tests that fate will give you. I believe you're strong enough to face them and to face him again." She emphasized the last word.

I bit my lower lip as I stared at her.

"So, back to my first question, is his image--- his handsome image bothering you lately?" She asked, sneering.

"Dana!"

"What?" She laughed at me. "I just want to know if you're thinking of him, what's wrong with that?"

"Haha..." I rolled my eyes but after a few minutes, our conversation turned serious. "But you know what, honestly, I couldn't explain exactly what I felt when I saw him again. It's like deja vu but it's not."

"What?" she frowned and suddenly straightened her seat.

"I don't know what the right words to describe what I felt, excitement---" but she already interrupted me.

"Okay, okay... I now get it." I stared at her as I suddenly got confused. "So how about during your conversation, did some memories bother you while you were talking to him?"

"Nope, and it surprised me too. It was so comfortable talking to him. In fact, it seemed like we never had bad experiences and memories behind us while we were talking."

"Well, it's because the wound of your past has already been healed and that's a good sign."

"Yeah, I agree." I nodded.

"What if one of these days he approached you and told you that he wanted to be friends with you, would you accept him?"

"Hmm... why not? I don't see anything wrong with being friends with my ex... ex-husband. You said we're now both grown adults, besides, we're Cali's parents. So since everything is already okay, then yes, I would agree if ever he would ask me." "Geez! You really did explain when you can just simply reply with a yes or no."

"Huh! It's because I know you. You always have a follow-up question!" I playfully glared at her but she just laughed at me.

"Anyway, you're right, there's nothing wrong with it and I'm happy that you're now happy, plus, you now have 'closure'--- oops! I think I shouldn't say that word because we never know what's going to happen in the future. What if he chases you again, you'll get married again and have another baby or babies---ouch!"

She didn't"You know what, you really need to sleep now because your imagination is getting wild and wild every second!"

"Hey, wait! It's still early!" She screamed, laughing behind my back as I had already left her on the couch.

"Haha... early your face!" I said heading to my room.

"Sam..."

"Are you going to sleep on the couch? I'm now going to lock the door." I screamed as soon as I reached the doorway.

"No, of course, not! I will sleep in your bed." And she ran immediately in my direction. get the chance to continue what she was going to say as I hit her with the throw pillow.
