One More Chance
Chapter 63: It's over now

~~Make believing we're together, that I'm sheltered by your heart. It must have been love, but it's over now. It was all that I wanted, now I'm living without. It must have been good, but I lost it somehow. IT MUST HAVE BEEN LOVE, BUT IT'S OVER NOW. From the moment we touched 'till the time had run out~~~

-Regine Velasquez-

We stayed outside for a few minutes before we decided to call it a night.

"Are you sure, you can walk?"

"Of course, I'm not paralyzed, duh!"

"Okay, I have to go, good night---I mean, good morning, Sam." He was about to kiss my cheek, but since I moved, the kiss landed on the corner of my lips. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to---"

"Don't mind it, it's fine, be careful while you're driving."

"Yup, I will."

"Thank you again, Paul, I enjoyed the night having you in the group."

He just nodded and smiled before opening the door to his car. I waved at him until he already disappeared on my sight.

When I turned around, a smile painted on my lips and a few seconds later, I started singing the same song again, not even knowing that someone was waiting for me in the living room. I even waved my hand in the air while the other was placed over my chest where my heart was.

"It must have been love, but it's over now. It must have been good, but I lost it somehow. It must have been love, but it's over now. From the moment we touched 'till I lost it somehow..."

I stopped right in front of the door and laughed at myself as I forgot the lyrics. And after a few moments, I decided to sing... no, the right word is to shout. I started shouting the parts I only remembered as I pushed the double wooden door.

"Make believing we're together! That I'm sheltered in your heart! It was all that I wanted, now I'm living without! So yeah--- it must have been love, but it's over now! It's finally over--- whoow!"

I suddenly lost my balance, but there were a strong pair of arms held my waist before I could even fall to the ground.

"What the hell!"

"Oops! I'm sorry--- oh, it's you! Hi, Mr Williams, we haven't seen in a long time. How are you?" I asked patting his cheeks.

"What the hell are you wearing--- wait, are you drunk?" He asked, his face turned sour as he let me stand on my own (with a slight push).

"Ouch! Why do you have to push me?"

"Are you drunk, Samantha?"

I don't know but his question made me laugh. Thanks to the spirit of alcohol that embracing me at the moment as it gives me the courage to face and talk to him. I could still remember what happened yesterday at the restaurant. And this is the second time I've been to the club with Jack and her friends, but he only noticed it now.

"It's none of your business!"

"Samantha!" He gritted his teeth.

"Oh, Mr Williams..." I giggled. "Fine, I drank but I'm not drunk. See, I can still talk to you." I don't know what's funny, but I found myself laughing again.

"Who's with you and who's that guy who sent you home?"

"Ahh..." I yawned. "I'm tired, I wanna go to my room."

I don't feel like answering his question, so I turned and walked towards the stairs. But he was fast as he instantly came in front of me and blocked my way upstairs. "Where are you going? We're not done talking yet!"

"Huh!" I gasped, looking at him with wide eyes. "We have nothing to talk about, so let me go."

"You still haven't answered my question! Who was that guy driving you home, Samantha?"

"Oh, that guy? Uhm... it's Paul, your friend from college. Do you still remember him?" What a silly question I thought. "By the way, why are you asking if who sent me home?" "Paul, my teammate!"

"Yes, that's him." I nodded, even though what he had said wasn't a question, but a confirmation.

"Why were you with him and why did he send you home? Where is your fucking car?"

-'Whoa!'- I was surprised by the tone he used that it left me open-mouthed in my spot.

"Why are you just staring at me? Why aren't you answering my question, why were you together? Is that why you're wearing that dress?"

And that's pulled me back to my senses. I slowly looked at the dress I was wearing... a tight black dress with spaghetti straps that perfectly showed all my curves and that only ended in my mid-thigh. Then I turned to him and couldn't help the sarcastic laugh that escaped my lips.

"Hey, Mr Williams, you're not jealous, are you?" I asked, still laughing.

"What?" He frowned. Of course, he's not.

"Why do you suddenly care if who I was with? Am I asking who's with you whenever you're not around? And by the way, I will wear whatever I want and it's none of your business!" I walked past him but not after giving him a hard push on the shoulder.

"I still don't care about you, I was just asking why he was with you and why were you together?"

"Tss!" I hissed and turned around, giving him a sarcastic smile. "Okay, then let me revise my question! Why are you suddenly asking who's with me? Am I asking you who's bitch with you every time you're not around?"

I waited for a few moments but he didn't answer my question. He just clenched his jaws.

"See? Tsk.tsk. just ask me next time when you've already answered my question."

I have already taken a few steps when I remembered something that will surely stride his ego.

"Oh, by the way, your friend was good..." I smiled as I intentionally left my question hanging.

"What the hell---"

"Your friend was good, I mean, he was great and he really satisfied me tonight. Haist, if only I knew it then... hmm... anyway, good night Mr William."

I don't know if I was just imagining things because I was under the influence of alcohol or I really saw how his facial expression changed from confused to furious after I mentioned those words. His fists had formed into a ball before I finally left him at the end of the stairs. I was still giggling as I walked down the hallway towards my room.

"Haist... If only I knew how good it is to live this way, tsk.tsk.tsk." and I started singing again, without having the slightest idea that he was following me upstairs. "It must have been love, but it's over now--- ahh!"

A scream left my throat as Luke suddenly pulled my hand and pinned me to the nearest wall. He was holding both my hands above my head as his other hand was on the side of my head.

"What the hell are you doing?" I asked, glaring at him, but instead of answering my question, he narrowed his eyes on me and asked me another question

"What did you say again, he was good? What do you mean by that phrase, Samantha?"

His hot breath fanned across my face as his face was merely inches away from mine.

A wry smile painted between my lips before answering his dumb question.

"You're not dumb, are you? He's good! What do you think that phrase would mean other than he's good? He's great and he really made me happy with what he did."

But behind my head, I was silently laughing at what Paul really did. Well, he was good at giving advice and he got satisfied with that advice and laughed at some of his corny jokes. "Did he kiss you?"

I blinked repeatedly at his question and was still not coping when he asked again.

"Did he touch you?"

"W-What are you talking about?" I asked him, laughing. -'what kind of question is that?'-

"Just answer my question!"

"O-Okay... and so if he kissed me or he touched me, why do you ask and what is it with you?"

"Goddamn it, Samantha! Why can't you just answer my question, did he touch you?" His eyes were suddenly blown fire as he clenched his jaws.

"Oh, Goddamn it, Luke Marcuz, yes! Yes, he kissed me and he fucking touched me, but why are you mad?" I asked, screaming as I couldn't understand why he's acting strange. He seemed like a jealous freak.

I tried to break away from his grip, but he's too strong and he didn't even budge a bit.

"I've already stopped asking you about Cherry! I've already stopped caring for you and whatever you do! I've already stopped chasing you because I'm tired of arguing with you which I realized it wouldn't change anything! So why did our situation suddenly seem to be reversed?"

I looked at him in the eye and waited for his answer, but I heard none.

"Tsk.tsk. If only I knew then what my life would be like after marrying you, I would have listened to my friends to date Paul!"

"What did you say?" He asked, furry was visibly shown in his eyes.

"Do you know what was the biggest mistake I committed? That is to love you! And if only I had known that you would never learn to love me despite all the efforts I made in this marriage, I wouldn't have agreed to marry you! I regret the first time I admitted to myself that I love you and until now I regret that I still love you!"

God knows how much strength I drew just to get out of his grasp and pushed him as I was also holding my tears.

"And since you said you don't love me and you don't care about me, then stop distressing yourself about who's with me or where I was because it's gonna be useless! From now on, you will just be Luke, Cali's father, nothing more, nothing less! Not even my husband nor a friend. And if someone asked me if I know you, I would say 'yes, I met you once when I was young, but not anymore!"

I turned around to open the door to my room but he took my hand again and what he did next was kinda shocked me.
