One More Chance -
Chapter 99: My ex-husband
~~~I hear you on the telephone with God knows who, spilling out your heart for free. Everyone, needs someone they can talk to, girl, that someone should be me. Can't we try just a little bit harder? Can't we try just a little bit more? Can't we try to understand that it's love we're fighting for? Can't we try just a little more passion? Can't we try just a little less pride? I love you so much baby, that it tears me up inside-~~~
-Dan Hill and Vonda Shepard-
LUKE's POV:
I sighed as watched her dance as if it were the first time she ever stepped in the middle of the dance floor. It's the first time I've seen her in that state, so carefree and didn't seem to care to the world. She looked happy as she sang with the song playing on all the speakers. But rage instantly filled me when I noticed one of the boys who I think was only 18 or 19 intentionally bumped his chest against Samantha's shoulder.
-'I think this teenager guy wants to play some dirty, I mean, deadly game!'- I muttered to myself with an evil grin curling at the corner of my lips.
I watched him smile like an idiot as he continued to dance, I immediately stepped forward when he was about to touch her.
"Don't fucking touch her, baby boy, if you don't want to find your head disconnected from your body!" I said narrowing my eyes at him.
"O-Oh, I-I am sorry. I d-didn't know she's with you." He looked so terrified when he met my eyes.
"Tss!" I sneered.
"I'm sorry, boss." And those were his last words before disappearing from my sight.
And since I wasn't dancing nor even moving, I was continually bumped, hit and pushed by some of the crazy-frustrated dancers around me, but I held my stand. I glared at them every time their hands or elbows hit my body and thanks to the blasting music and song Sam was currently singing and I didn't hear what those crazy teens mumbled about me.
"My goodness! What is he doing in the middle? He's not even moving! Does he really know how to dance?"
"Gosh! Is he paranoid or has his sanity already left his body?"
"Haha... what the hell is going on with him? Tsk. tsk. A handsome yet lunatic dude on the dance floor but doing nothing, jeez!"
I have no idea what's on the people's mind at that time. I was busy watching Samantha and some of the men eyeing her like she's their next prey.
She spent another 10 minutes and so I was.
"Ohh... I love that song!" She screamed as soon as the song stopped.
Her face didn't even show exhaustion, instead, enjoyment and satisfaction can be seen in her eyes.
"Oops, you're still here, ex-husband." She seemed surprised to see me, but honestly, I got more surprised as she mentioned the word ex-husband twice.
"I'm waiting for you. I'm going to take you home." I just said instead, holding her by the arm and trying to help her walk towards their table.
Dale has already taken Jack home while Paul has suddenly disappeared and is nowhere to be seen. I'm not sure if he already goes home or if he still at the bar... I don't know and I don't care.
"What are you doing?" Sam asked, swatting my hand that was holding her arm.
"I'm just helping you walk."
"Don't touch me, I can manage!" She glared at me and then tried to walk on her own but almost faced the ground if I hadn't grabbed her waist.
"Tss! What a stubborn woman." I mumbled with a slight chuckle that escaped my lips. But I didn't know she heard it.
"Are you laughing at me, ex-husband?" She asked loudly that made me open my mouth in shock.
-'Haist, Jesus Christ! How many times does she need to mention that word?'- I stared at her for a few seconds and then shook my head. "No, of course not! Why would I do that?" Then I held her up and helped her walked to their table. "I want to have another shot---"
"No! That's enough, Sam!" I immediately took the glass away from her hand as I frowned.
"What the hell are you doing? Give me back that fucking glass!"
I was kinda stunned by the words she used. I've never heard her curse in the past.
"Come on, give me back that glass! I won't ask you to pay for my drinks, so give me back my drinks!"
"No, you're drunk and that's enough! Don't you know what kind of hangover tequila could give you the next morning?"
But she just stared at me and then laughed sarcastically.
"Oh, my ex-husband, do you think I didn't know that? I'm not a fucking kid anymore to not realize the hangover tequila or whatever drinks could give me!"
"Where are you going?" I asked frowning when she stood up.
"Well, since you don't want to give me those drinks, I'll go to the counter and order a new drink."
-'Good heaven!'- I immediately ran after her and stopped her from what she was planning.
"What the hell, Luke Marcuz!" She screamed so loud that caught the attention of some of the customers at the bar. Why not? Because I carried her over my shoulder. "Put me down, you fucking dude!" She tried to move and jump out of my grasp, but I didn't let her. She continued to hit me even when we reached the parking lot, but I ignored her. I couldn't let her have another drink when I know she might have a terrible headache the next morning due to hangover.
"Argh! If you don't put me down, I would scream for help and tell them you're planning to kidnap me!"
"Oh, Sam, no one would believe you because my cousin owned that bar."
"What the---"
"Besides, Cali already called me and asking me what time are you going home."
"Liar! I know my Cali well and I'm sure she would have called me instead of asking someone else just to find out where I am!"
"Yeah, but I wasn't just somebody else. I'm her father, remember? If you don't want to believe me, I can show you my phone to check if she really called me earlier." I smirked when I no longer heard her protest. I know that made her stop and think.
I put her down and opened the passenger side of my car, but she just stood in front of me.
"What are you doing? Why did you bring me here and open the door of your car?"
ן"
opened the door for you to get in."
"No way! I have my car and I---"
"My driver has already brought your car back to the mansion." I interrupted that it made her eyes widen. "What?"
"Yup." I nodded. "So get in and I'll take you home."
"No! I would rather take a cab than take a ride home with you!"
I couldn't help clenching my jaws and let out a frustrated sigh when she started walking back to the entrance.
"Samantha!" I grabbed her arm and
never let her go even when she tried to pull it. "There is no cab wandering around at this hour and if it still
you would just wait for an hour or more home. and
O get one and take es
So you better get in the call
drive you home and you could take
rest."
"I said no! I don't want to take a ride with you!"
-'Haist! That's it! You left me with no choice!'- I muttered under my breath before yanking her and throwing her on the passenger seat.
I immediately fastened her seatbelt even in her protest and when she's finally settled, I closed the door and made sure it was locked.
I couldn't help but chuckle as I walked around towards the driver seat.
"You don't have the right to do this to me!" She screamed narrowing her eyes at me that if the glare she's giving me could kill, I would probably be buried six feet under the ground.
I ignored her and started the engine.
"Argh! Open this damn door, Luke Marcuz!"
She continued to scream as she tried to open the door to her side. And instead of being alarmed, I turned to my left and looked outside the window, biting my lip to stifle the laughter that bubbled up in my throat. It was only at that moment I realized that she's calling me by my full name every time she's annoyed or mad at me. I was so dumb that I didn't recognize it before, but now I found it cute.
Her face was reddened from the annoyance and the spirit of alcohol.
"I made sure it's locked, so you couldn't open it no matter how hard you try."
"You have no right to do this to me!"
I just sighed and chose to ignore her again. She's drunk and it's not the right time to spill the beans.
After a few minutes of yelling and forcing the door to open, I noticed that she suddenly turned quiet. And a smile crept into my lips when I glanced at her direction and saw her already asleep.
I concentrated on the wheel and after almost thirty minutes of driving, we finally reached the Soriano's mansion.
I pulled over and stopped right in front of the gate, but I didn't call the guards' attention. I want to seize the moment that she's with me and peacefully sleeping in my car.
I sighed, unfastened my seatbelt and leaned forward to stare at her beautiful face.
"I don't know what happened to me
or what kind of spirit possessed my mind that I didn't notice how beautiful you are, Sam. I didn't
realize how lucky I was before to net
have you, but I threw it all. I messed up, Sam. I messed up everything. I'm sorry." I mumbled softly as I kept staring at her peacefully sleeping
state.
I slowly raised my hand to put the loose strands of her hair behind her ear, but I hitched my breath when she suddenly stirred in her sleep.
"Asshole!"
I blinked repeatedly before a slight chuckle escaped my lips. She's talking in her sleep and I don't have to ask who she was referring because I know it was me.
"You're such an ass! You don't know what you're doing, bastard!"
I caressed her cheek with my left hand and to my surprise, she leaned on my touch.
"Hmm..."
And with that soft moan, I felt that something twitched underneath my zipper.
But again, it's not the right time to think such a thing, so I sighed and stared at her again.
