Chapter 162
Before Abby could say anything, a loud slap landed on her face. She was stunned, covering her face, not knowing what happened. But she quickly figured it out. "Cynthia, how dare you hit me?" Cynthia's gaze was icy. "Why? Should I check my schedule first? She turned on her heel and walked back into the tent
Abby rushed in after Cynthia like a madwoman, swinging a hand at Cynthia and attempting to slap her. But as if she had eyes in the back. Cynthia swiftly pivoted, catching Alby's raised arm mikl-air. With a sharp twist, she delivered another slap, her smirk cold and mocking, "All even now. Satisfied?"
The sound echoed, and Abby's face turned beet red, both check bearing clear marks of Cynthia's stinging strikes.
Fear flickered in her eyes as Abby realized how fast and strong Cynthia could be. "What gives you the right to hit me. Cynthia
Just then, Nina hurried into the tent, catching the tail end of the confrontation. She tried to intervene, after all, Abby had saved her earlier today. "Cynthia, hitting isn't the answer.
Seeing someone standing up for her, Abby clutched her face and began to cry. "Cynthia, are you holding à grudge because I took Nina out and not you? But in that situation, Nina was closerto me, so I only pulled her out. Was that wrong?" "Admit it, Cynthia-you're just mad we both left without you, but you don't dare hit Nina, so you're taking it out on Abby's voice wavered dramatically as she continued, hoping to drag Nina into her corner,
Abby asked, "What was I supposed to do? Risk my life to protect you from that snake? Your life is important, sure, ptirs!"
me!
but so
Nina blushed, shame washing over her as she listened to Abby's words. No matter the situation, they had abandoned Cynthia in the tent. They shared a room and should've faced any danger together, helping each other through it. But she'd fled. Though Abby had pulled her along, Nina still felt like a coward. Stepping forward, Nina looked at Cynthia with regret. Tm sorry, Cynthia. You have every right to be angry. We shouldn't have run like that."
If they'd stayed together, maybe Cynthia wouldn't have to face that terrifying snake alone. Three people are better than one.
Cynthia sighed, looking at Nina's earnest face. "Nina, this isn't about you. I didn't slap her because you left. In a situation like that, getting to safety was the right choice."
Cynthia continued, "Remember, your own life is always the most important. No one should guilt you into staying in harm's
way."
Nina's eyes reddened as she nodded, though she still murmured, "But, Cynthia..."
Abby bristled at Cynthia's response, fuming. "So, Cynthia, this is all aimed at me, isn't it?"
"I thought you were this virtuous, above-it-all type. Unafraid of power, too proud to flatter anyone. Turns out you're just like the rest of us, maybe worse!
Abby continued. "So why act so noble around others like you don't care about anything? But with me and Nina, it's a whole different story. You're so fake, it's pathetic!" Nina glanced between them, momentarily lost in the tangled accusations.
Cynthia sneered, "Abby, I didn't slap you for being two-faced or playing games-I can overlook that. I slapped you because you're malicious, scheming enough to want me dead." 10:31 Fri, Nov 8
Chapter 162
Cynthia's words left both Nina and Abby stunned. A hint of gullashed across Abby's eyes, but she feigned calmness. "Cynthia, I don't know what you're talking about.
Cynthin didn't waste words. She stepped over to her air mattress flipped it up, and pulled out something wrapped in banana leaves. Holding it up, she asked. Then what's this?" Abby's mask of calm shattered, her face paling. "I... how would I know?"
Nina stepped forward, cautiously unwrapping the leaves. Her eyes widened when she found an intact snake egg inside-the same snake egg Abby had brought back that day.
Nina remembered it well. That day, Yao brought back a bunch of snake eggs from the hill path. They were startled, and the eggs fell, some getting completely smashed, only a couple had survived, and no one else had touched them. Seeing this egg under Cynthia's bed could only mean one thing Nina must have put it there.
Nina looked at Abby, her face full of shock and disbelief.
Nina looked at Abby, her face full of shock and disbelief. "Abby, how could you?"
Abby had tried to harm Cynthia. The malice was almost unimaginable. They'd only known each other a few days. Nina. couldn't believe someone harbored such intense hatred toward a stranger.
Abby still tried to wriggle out, her voice rising. "I don't know how that ended up there. You can't just accuse me of that without proof!"
Cynthia let out a cold laugh. Abby's shamelessness was right on par with Lilian's.
Cynthia's response was simple. She slapped Abby across the face multiple times.
"Cynthia, you... you're insane!" Abby's eyes flashed with fear as she realized Cynthia wasn't holding back, barely giving her a chance to defend herself.
Even Nina took a step back, a bit startled by the scene.
Cynthia flexed her fingers, cracking her knuckles as she looked at Abby with a cold smile. "It's been a while since I've stretched my muscles, Abby. Congratulations-you've managed to awaken my fighting spirit." Cynthia then turned to Nina with a calm smile. "Nina, what's about to happen isn't for young eyes. Maybe step outside for a bit
Nina pressed her lips together. Although she opposed violence, Abby was truly awful. "Alright, but take it easy, Cynthia. Don't hurt your hand, Holding the snake egg, she quickly slipped out of the tent. Not long after, sounds of Abby's desperate pleas filled the tent, muffled by her cries for mercy.
Outside, Nina noticed Jonathan stoking a fire between the tents, sitting on a driftwood log as he fed kindling into the flames. Clearly, he had caught bits and pieces of what had unfolded inside. SEND GIFT
