Chapter 996
The girl who was sobbing raised her head and ducked back. "Who are you?"
Edwin was stunned. He quickly said, "I'm sorry, I was mistaken."
It was not Joanne!
Where did she go?
An hour later, Edwin received a call from the manor housekeeper, asking when he was returning and whether he needed to prepare his portion for dinner tonight.
Edwin asked for Joanne, only to find out that she had already gone back.
So his efforts to look for her were all for nothing?
Edwin eventually returned to the manor.
The servants were all shocked to see his drenched and gloomy face.
Edwin did not even bother with them, and he walked straight to Catelyn's room.
At the moment, Joanne was watching TV and listening to music with her for prenatal education in Catelyn's room.
As she heard the door knocking, she thought it was Kelly who was bringing her food again. She threw away the picture book, turned her head, and walked towards the door. 'Aunt Kelly, are you trying to raise me as a pig? The doctor told me to eat less but more frequently, and I've gained a lot of weight..."
She opened the door and stopped talking abruptly. It was not Kelly who appeared at her doorstep but Edwin.
He was all drenched wet. The droplets of water at the tip of his hair slid down to his jaw and collarbone, making him look extremely sexy and masculine.
How tempting!
Joanne was initially still angry with Edwin and wanted to give him a slap on the face. However, seeing his charming appearance, she could not help but feel a little starstruck.
Joanne shook her head. No, she could not be charmed like this. She had to prepare for the divorce agreement.
She rolled her eyes innocently. "What happened to you?"
Edwin felt relief seeing Joanne was safe and sound. However, a storm was brewing within him. "You still have the guts to ask? Why didn't you stop running when I told you to?!"
'Why shouldn't I? Should I just stay put and allow myself to be abused by you?" said Joanne. She glanced at Catelyn, who was in the corner of the room. She felt confident Edwin would not do anything rash with Catelyn around.
The blue veins on Edwin's temple bulged as he stared at her, speechless. Eventually, he said, "Since you're already home, why did you turn off your phone?"
Joanne took out her phone. The screen was black. She scratched her head innocently. "No battery."
The more she talked, the more she felt the low air pressure around Edwin, and she could not help shivering. "You're all wet. Why don't you go back to your room to take a shower?"
Edwin glared at Joanne, feeling that his IQ was lowered by just talking to her.
Could she not just tell him that she was already back home safely earlier? 'Hey, why are you wet?" said Catelyn in surprise as she came over.
