Owned By Her Triplet Bullies
(Bk 2) Chapter 17

Lexi's POV

I was walking into the hallway when I saw Mason and a girl holding hands. At first, I wasn't surprised. A person of his reputation at this school will have different girls at his beck and call. I was ready to walk past them like they were invisible but my books fell from my hands in shock when I saw it was the same girl from the other day. And she was also the same girl I had seen at the party. I couldn't remember much due to the spiked juice I drank. Who spikes juice at a party? That was so childish. People chose to drink juice because they didn't want to get drunk.

We had talked about Mason together behind his back and they weren't really pleasant words. What was she doing holding his hand and smiling widely at him? I thought she hated him. I bent down to pick my books but when I looked back up, my eyes met with that of Mason. I unintentionally stared at their entwined hands for a while. I snapped out of it and walked away. Maybe I thought wrong but they could do whatever they wanted.

I walked towards my locker and took out my books before heading towards class. Was I the only one with a slight headache? I thought as I glanced around. Everyone else was chatting while some laughed. They seemed quite okay.

"Lexi," Mady called out hurriedly making her way towards me.

"Hi," I said with a smile.

"I'm so sorry I didn't mean to leave you all by yourself at the party. Something came up. I looked for you afterward but I couldn't find you anywhere. Did you get home alright last night?" she asked worriedly.

"Huh?" I replied. Last night? She wasn't aware I went home early this morning and I slept in her brother's room? It was probably for the best. She might get the wrong idea. "Yes last night," she affirmed.

"Of course, I arrived safely. Nothing out of the ordinary happened so don't be worried," I assured her.

"Thank goodness. How did you get home?" she inquired as we began to walk.

"I took a cab," I lied through my teeth. I just hope she doesn't find out from that driver. She wouldn't, right? Why would she have conversations like that with her driver?

"Okay, but how did you enjoy the party last night?" she inquired with a smile. Enjoy? I didn't enjoy it one bit. Only embarrassing stuff happened to me last night and the nightmares I've been wanting to shove down a dark hole in my mind ended up re-surfacing. It was terrible.

"Fine for others I guess," I responded. She held my hand and turned me around to face her, making us stop walking abruptly.

"How about you? How was it for you? Didn't you have any fun?" she asked.

"Parties aren't really my scene, Mady," I replied.

"That will have to change. I've noticed you are serious and uptight for your age which shouldn't be the case but you have me now. I will help you unwind and relax. That's what I do," she said with a chuckle. I couldn't help but smile. "What happened to your face?" she asked with a frown.

"Why? Is there something on it?" I inquired about feeling my face with my hands.

"No, but your eyes look puffy just the same as Mason's. Didn't you both get any sleep?" she muttered. Mine was probably due to the fact that I cried my eyes out this morning. Mason's, I don't know and I definitely don't care.

"It must be because of the alcohol," I replied. She nodded as we both headed to class. I heard we would be having assessment tests today, we were all having the tests early this year. I had completely forgotten about it due to the party last night. "What if we fail the tests? We didn't get any chance to study," I said to Mady worriedly.

"Calm down. We won't fail and even if we do because we had a party that would mean the entire school will fail too. The teachers won't have any choice but to reorganize the test," she assured me. I nodded but I still wasn't convinced.

"Don't be nervous. Good luck," she said with a smile walking over to take her seat. I also moved over to mine. The rest of the students walked over to their seats including Mason who had a blank look on his face. I was sure he absolutely didn't know a thing he was going to write in the tests. All he ever gets credit for is his face. The teacher arrived and began to distribute the papers. It was a mix of everything we had done since I resumed.

I picked up my pen and started to answer the questions. Thirty minutes into the test when I was barely done with mine, Mason stood up and submitted his. I scoffed in disbelief. I hadn't even answered half of the questions and he was already done? He must have written down only the wrong answers. I shook my head at him and continued. Five minutes later, Mady also submitted hers. She winked at me and gave me a thumbs-up before rushing outside.

I finished up later and submitted mine before heading outside. I heard the results will be pasted by the end of the day.

"Hi," someone said. I turned around and it was her. The same girl I had seen with Mason.

"Hi?" I replied wondering why she was speaking to me.

"I'm Rachel. We met the other day," she said, stretching out her hand for a handshake. I stared at her hand and reluctantly placed mine on it. If I didn't, it would only end up embarrassing her since people were watching us. "Lexi," I replied curtly.

"It's nice meeting you again. When I came the other day, I had no idea I would start this school. My intent was just to visit someone," she said with a smile.

"What made you change your mind?" I asked.

"After watching the person from afar, I realized how I missed them. I couldn't bring myself to leave again which is why I'm staying," she responded absent-mindedly. She said it in a very fond voice which made me wonder if she was talking about Mason. "You are staying because of someone, not because you like it here?" I couldn't help but ask.

She smiled. "I like wherever the person is. My heart yearns for them and I only want to be where they are."

If she was indeed speaking about Mason, then what kind of relationship did they have? It didn't look that simple to me.

"I'm sorry I bored you with what I was saying. I didn't mean to. I don't know what's wrong with me but these days, all I end up thinking about or speaking about is them," she said.

"It's okay but I really have to go now. It was nice meeting you again Rachel," I said to her before dashing out of there. After the assessment and her talk about matters of the heart coupled with the fact that I didn't have breakfast, I was famished. I quickly headed to the cafeteria to get some food. I searched for Mady after eating but I could not find her anywhere. I headed over to my next class and the one after that without catching sight of Mady.

I wondered where she went and why she didn't attend any classes or pick up my calls. I had just one more class left before the school closed for the day. I was walking towards my locker to get an exchange of books when I heard students speaking while some ran in a particular direction.

"I heard the results are out," a girl said.

"Really? Let's go check it out," the other replied and they hurried out too. The results were already out? This early? I thought it was supposed to be after school closed. There were still some hours left, I thought as I followed them after them. I saw them all gathered in front of a very large board. The crowd was unbelievable. I took a deep breath and began to gently push my way through. I was just going to see my score and then leave.

I was barely at the front when I heard a girl speaking. "As expected of the Martinez twins, they always top the charts. How come nobody ever overthrows them?

Martinez twins? That would be Mady and Mason. I continued pushing my way forward curiously. When I finally reached the huge board, my eyes widened and my jaw almost dropped at the sight in front of me. Mady had a 99% while Mason had a whooping...100%?. Their names were the first and were also written boldly.

Mason had a perfect score? How come? I thought he was supposed to be dumb. Could there be perhaps another Mason Martinez I don't know of?
