Owned By Her Triplet Bullies
(Bk 2) Chapter 28

Mason's POV

I wondered if I was hearing right or if my ears were playing tricks on me. She was pleading with me to tutor her when she had vehemently refused before. What changed her mind? Could it be because of what happened in class a few minutes ago? "What made you change your mind? I thought you never wanted me to be close to you or tutor you," I asked, looking at her hand that was holding onto my sweatshirt tightly. She hurriedly removed her hand after realizing where it was placed. "You don't have to concern yourself with why I changed my mind. Where do we meet up?" she asked, back to her rude self. The vulnerability and desperation I had seen in her eyes just now were gone like it was never there in the first place. "What do I get in return for tutoring you?" I asked with a straight face. She looked back at me in surprise.

"Why would I give you anything? The principal asked you to tutor me and you agreed, remember?" she inquired.

"I do remember, but that was days ago and I've changed my mind during that time," I responded.

She scoffed. "What do you want then? Money? Fine. I will pay you for the tutoring sessions. Happy?"

"Why would your money make me happy? I don't need it," I answered.

"Then what do you want?" she asked irately.

"Why should I tutor you? You've been nothing but rude to me. You've gone on and on about how you hate me. Tell me one good reason why I should forget about that and tutor you," I responded. "Because the principal asked you to," she answered.

"I don't want to. You can report it to her if you want," I said and headed towards the gym. I could feel her staring at me, but I never turned back. I walked into the gym and laid down in my usual spot. "Why did you do that?" Lyall asked.

"She needs to get a dose of her own medicine. She can't always get everything she wants, and besides, she refused me first. My time of being generous is over. I don't feel like tutoring anyone anymore," I replied with my eyes closed.

"She sounded really desperate for this. Like she really wanted it," he said. I thought back to when she asked me for answers in the classroom, and I ignored her. I didn't do it to be mean. I just wanted her to learn a little lesson. "If she really wants this, she will come again," I responded.

"Would you tutor her then?" he asked.

"Who knows? It all depends on my mood," I said. I laid down for a while until I was sure it was almost time for the school to close before leaving. I wondered where Torres was. He didn't show up at school today, nor did he show up at the house. Was he that busy at the office?

Immediately I stepped out, I saw Lexi in front of her locker and she looked dejected. She was slowly bringing out her books from her locker with a sad face. Was she sad because I refused to tutor her? Did she want it that much? Then why did she refuse my help before? I thought with a frustrated sigh. Thinking about what she does and what she does not do gives me a headache.

Someone suddenly bumped into her, and her books fell to the floor. She glanced towards the culprit the same time I did. Only that it wasn't one person, they were four and they surrounded her. She stared at them without uttering a word.

"If it isn't Mason's anti-fan," one said with a chuckle.

"You meant dumb anti-fan, right?" another asked.

"Absolutely. How could I forget to add dumb? Why do you bother coming to school? It's a waste of time, money, and space," the first one said.

"She's even dragging our class behind. Our class has always been on top, but because of you, I'm afraid we are going to fall behind. On that note, why don't you quit and never come back? Nobody wants you here anyway. It will be a win-win for all of us. Don't you think so?" the third one inquired. Those four of them, I think they call themselves the major four or something. Why was she allowing them to speak to her that way? She spoke fearlessly when it came to me, but she wasn't going to say anything to them? "Didn't we warn you? If you mess with Mason, you mess with all of us. You should have joined us while we asked nicely," the fourth one said.

"I will never join your little fan group. Leave me alone," she retorted. I scoffed in disbelief. She was quiet all along, but as soon as she heard my name, she spoke up. Her hatred for me was way more deeply rooted than I imagined.

"What did you just say to us? This b***h must be seriously asking for it. Should we teach her a lesson?" the first one asked the others, getting intimidatingly close to her. If there was one thing I hated with all my being, it was bullying. Preying on others' weaknesses to show them your superiority was an act of cowardice to me. Why prey on the weak and not someone stronger than you? That too in greater numbers?

I walked towards them and picked up Lexi's book that was on the floor.

"Who is this loser this time?" one of them asked, but as soon as I rose to my feet, they all gasped.

"M...Mason," they stuttered, moving back in surprise.

"4 pm at my place. Do not be late," I said to Lexi as I handed her book over to her and walked away. She looked surprised.

"Are you close to Mason? Why is he inviting you over to his house?" I heard them asking her curiously. I turned towards the other corridor to head home, tuning out of their conversation. I got into the car, but Mady was already there. She was leaning her back on the car seat with her eyes closed. "What took you so long?" she asked.

"I'm only five minutes late," I responded when my phone suddenly rang. I looked at it, and it was an unknown number. I picked it up and waited for the person to speak.

"Hi Mason, it's Rachel," she said. I had a feeling it was going to be her, but how did she get my phone number?

"Before you hang up, I wanted to ask you if we could perhaps hang out later tonight. I will text you the address..."

"I'm not interested," I replied and hung up immediately.

"What aren't you interested in?" Mady asked.

"It's nothing serious," I responded. We rode in silence until we got home. I caught sight of a cab leaving our house when we drove in. We both got down, and I saw Lexi standing in front of our door. "Lexi?" Mady called out in surprise. She smiled and waved at her. What was she doing here? I thought I said 4 pm?

"What are you doing here?" Mady asked as we walked towards her.

"Mason will be tutoring me starting from today," she replied.

"What? He agreed? Without me saying anything? I thought I would have to stay up all night coming up with ways to plead on your behalf," Mady said in shock.

"Stay up all night? You sound like you want to make a deal with the devil," I remarked.

"You both have some things in common," she responded. I sighed.

"I thought I told you to come by 4 pm?" I asked. I wanted her to get a two-hour rest before we started, but she came immediately after school.

"I didn't want to go home before coming, and I have to be home by 6 pm, which was why I decided to come now, if that is okay with you," she explained.

"Come in," I responded as we all walked inside.

"I'm sorry about what happened in class earlier," Mady started.

"It's okay. It was both our faults. We spoke when we weren't supposed to speak. Don't blame yourself," Lexi assured her.

"But, I still can't wrap my head around why Mason decided to tutor you without anyone forcing him. He has never done this before," Mady muttered. My phone suddenly dinged, and I glanced at the message that popped up on the screen. "I will be waiting for you. I won't leave unless you come, even if it means spending the night outside," she wrote. I turned off my phone and headed upstairs.

"Follow him quickly," I heard Mady whisper to her. I got to the door of my room and unlocked it.

"Are we going to stay here? In your room?" she asked.

"Where else would we have stayed? Outside the gates? You can decide to come in or stay outside. It's your choice," I responded, stepping into my room.
