Owned By Her Triplet Bullies
(Bk 2) Chapter 34

Mason's

POV

I stared at her mum in surprise. I met her earlier when she opened the front door but I never thought she was still here, somewhere.

"Since you have been behaving rudely. The young man was just trying to apologize although I don't know what it was for but shouldn't you hear him out first?" she asked. "Mum, you don't even know what's going on..."

"I don't need to know what's going on to know you were being rude. Where are your manners? Apologize to him right now," she ordered. I looked at her in surprise.

"I should do what?" Lexi inquired in disbelief.

"You heard me. Do it now," she responded firmly. Lexi glared at me.

"I'm sorry," she muttered through gritted teeth. With the glare she was giving me, I knew she wasn't sincere. It sounded more like a threat than an apology.

"Young man, forgive her. I'm sure she didn't mean to speak that way," her mum said to me with a smile. I didn't know if it was just me but this woman and Lexi didn't look alike. In contrast to Lexi's brown eyes and black hair, she had blue eyes and blonde hair. Maybe she looked like her dad?

"It's okay ma'am, there's really no need to apologize," I replied. I wanted to tell her that I was used to Lexi's behavior but I refrained.

"Of course there's a need. She's not supposed to speak with her school mate in that manner. But, are you two friends having a misunderstanding or is there something else?" she asked inquisitively.

"Mum!" Lexi exclaimed.

"I assure you it's nothing like that. I won't say we are friends either since we barely know each other," I hurriedly responded.

She narrowed her eyes on me. "If you aren't friends or anything else, then why are you here?"

"I'm her tutor," I replied.

She gasped glancing at Lexi before looking back at me. "Tutor?"

"Yes ma'am," I replied.

"Lexi, why didn't you say anything? You dared to speak to your tutor so rudely," she said, smacking her on the arm again.

"Mum, why do you keep hitting me? Should I have bowed and allowed him walk all over me to show him respect just because he's my tutor?" she retorted.

"Young man, what's your name?" she asked me with a smile ignoring Lexi's tantrums.

"I'm..," I started.

"Shouldn't I be the one to introduce him to you? He's Mason Mar..."

"My name is Mason. Just Mason," I said, cutting her off. She glanced at me in surprise.

"Mason, thank you so much for taking the time to tutor my daughter. I'm her mother so I know how stubborn she can be. I hope she isn't making things too difficult for you?" she asked. I could feel Lexi's eyes on me, anticipating my answer. "She is," I responded.

"She is?" her mum asked in surprise. I looked at Lexi and she was staring at me in surprise, she caught me looking at her and quickly tried to mask it. I answered without averting my gaze from hers.

"Yes. I'm afraid that with the way she's learning so fast, she's going to surpass me soon."

There it was again, the surprised expression. Her mum chuckled.

"Apart from being handsome you also have a sense of humor. Do one thing, join us for dinner. We were just about to eat," she offered with a warm smile.

"I'm sure he has something better to do than eating dinner with us. Right Mason?" she asked in a light tone but she was gesturing with her eyes for me to leave.

"Allow Mason speak for himself. One bite won't hurt right?" her mum asked.

"How can I refuse when you are asking so nicely? I would love to have dinner with you," I replied politely. I wanted to refuse before because I had to get home on time and review some files with my fathers but I don't know what prompted me to agree to it. Spite maybe?.

"Wonderful, I will set the table. Come on in," she replied cheerfully, going in before us.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?" she asked once her mum was out of earshot.

"Having dinner. What else?" I responded heading inside.

"You can't..."

"By the way, I noticed your attitude wasn't hereditary. I wonder where you got it from," I remarked walking past her into the house. I met with a man whom I presumed was her father.

"Good evening sir," I greeted politely.

"Evening. Who?..."

"Honey, he's Mason. Lexi's school mate and tutor," her mum introduced.

"Nice to meet you sir," I said, stretching out my arm politely for a handshake. He shook it.

"Nice to meet you too son. But Mason, that name rings a bell," he said, trying to recall where he heard the name.

"That must be because it's a very common name," I replied. I didn't want them to know I was the Alpha's son. They were new in this pack so they would have no idea. Even if they weren't new, Mady would be the only person they would know as the Alpha's child since she's the social butterfly. They might have heard my name somewhere but they wouldn't be able to place a face to it. I never took any pictures unless it was of utmost importance which was either for a family shoot or related to school.

I wasn't the type of person that liked public attention and my fathers said it was good that way. As the future Alpha, it wouldn't be wise to let everyone in the pack know about my every move. Some people were fickle-minded. They could be with you one minute and the next they were against you. It would be good to make the members of the pack curious as to how I looked like and what I was like. Only a few people could recognize me in the pack, they said it was a good idea to mold me into the perfect Alpha before presenting me to the entire public to avoid unnecessary drama. I couldn't have wanted anything more.

"You are right. Thank you for tutoring our daughter. You have no idea how much she wanted this," he said.

"It's nothing sir. You don't have to thank me," I replied. She didn't look like her dad either. He had brown hair and small black eyes totally different from Lexi's prominent big doe eyes and high cheekbones. Did she perhaps look like her grandparents or a relative? My phone suddenly chimed and it was a message from Mady.

"Where are you? Our fathers are very upset. Get your a*s over here right now while I can still calm them down."

"Have a seat," Lexi's mum said, making me glance up from my phone.

"I'm afraid I have to leave now. Something urgent came up. I'm sorry," I apologized bowing slightly.

"Why are you apologizing? I hope it's nothing serious," her mum replied.

"It's nothing too serious. I'm sorry I have to leave after you took your time in setting the table," I responded.

"It's fine. You can go and sort whatever that is going on out," her dad answered. Her mum quickly came out of the kitchen with a wrapped little plastic box.

"Here, I packed you some cookies I made myself," she said.

"You didn't have to," I replied. How did she prepare this so fast?

"Take it. You can't leave empty-handed," she replied.

"Thank you," I said gratefully, taking the box from her. "I will take my leave now. Have a goodnight everyone," I said.

"Be careful and our regards to your parents," her mum said as I stepped outside. I took out my car keys, I had parked my car a few blocks away.

"Why were you deliberately hiding your identity from my parents?" Lexi asked. I turned back and saw her leaning against the wall.

"I didn't hide anything from them. I just didn't tell them I was the Alpha's son," I replied.

"It's still the same thing," she retorted.

"I don't want them to feel uncomfortable around me because of my status. I'm sure they would have threaded carefully around me if they knew who I was. People tend to judge me before knowing me as soon as they hear who I am. I'm sure you did too," I replied. "I know we are not on good terms but I came here to apologize. I'm not going to give up on my morals and what I believe in just because we are not on good terms. Your parents, they are very nice people. It's a shame you don't take after them," I continued. She stared at me without saying anything. The moon casted a soft glow on her and for the first time since we met, she didn't have that hard look and angry aura. She looked calm and appeared to be deep in thoughts. I hope she was pondering over her attitude. "Have a goodnight," I said to her before turning around to leave. I got into my car knowing exactly what was about to come.
