(Bk 2) Chapter 55

Mason's POV

Our flight was filled with laughter and chatter. Mady and Torres ate till they could barely move. Lexi ate a little quantity but she made sure she tasted every dish. I only had a glass of juice. Traveling by air has never really been something I enjoyed. I always felt nauseous whenever I was in an airplane and that made me never have an appetite. I leaned back into the seat and closed my eyes. I heard Mady groaning about how her stomach hurt. She could never help herself around food. We should be getting to the Bluemoon pack now. It's been over an hour since we took off.

"Attention everyone, we have now arrived at our destination. Make sure your seatbelt is fastened properly," the pilot announced, cutting my thought short. I was right. He waited for a while for us to obey his instructions before he landed. "Welcome to the Blue Moon pack. I hope you enjoy your stay," he said after we landed. I opened my eyes and glanced around. I sat in the back seat in order to have more time to myself. Torres stood up first and raised a brow at me quietly asking me if I was okay. I nodded in response. Mady clung onto Lexi's arm as they both walked out after Torres. I headed out after them. The airport was flooded with people. It seemed the other students had arrived too. I really hoped I didn't run into Rachel. I couldn't deal with her right now. I know she must be fuming with anger after what we did to her.

"This way," I pointed them toward the man who was holding a welcome sign with our names on it. Uncle Xander must have sent him. We all got into the car he brought with him and drove off. I could see Lexi glancing around and watching the scenery in awe. She had an expression on her face that was hard to come by. I'm sure she had no idea, if she did, she wouldn't hesitate to wear her infamous scowl once again.

Torres was replying to some work emails while Mady was scrolling through her phone. Rachel's call suddenly came in and she disconnected it. Rachel has also been calling me since we got into the car. But I ignored her too. Mady said these would bring her back to her senses immediately. I noticed the driver took a different route.

"Aren't we going to the hotel?" I asked him. Torres and Mady both looked up from their phones while Lexi stared at the driver curiously finally looking away from the view outside.

"I'm afraid not. The Alpha asked me to bring you all straight to the pack house," he replied politely.

"Aren't we staying in the pack house?" I heard Lexi whispering to Mady. It didn't count as a whisper because I was sure everyone heard her.

"Of course not," Mady replied in a low tone.

"Why not? Where are we staying?" she asked curiously.

"No way. We didn't leave our home with our parents just to stay with other ones. It's a trip and we are here to have fun till we get tired," she replied. The driver pulled over and we all stepped out. The sun was setting, casting a warm, golden glow on the weathered wooden walls. The place was surrounded by lush greenery, and the scent of blooming flowers filled the air. The guards let us in without any questions. As we stepped inside, I couldn't help but notice how Lexi's eyes widened with wonder. She didn't say a word, but her expression said it all.

"My favorite twins," I heard Uncle Xander say. We glanced up at the staircase and saw him coming down.

"We are the only twins you know uncle," Mady replied with a smile as she ran into his arms. She was back to being herself again forgetting about the fact that she was feeling sick a while ago.

"How about your father?" he inquired.

"They don't count. They are triplets," she responded. He chuckled.

"I almost forgot how much of a smarty pants you are. Mason..," he said. We both shook hands. I wasn't like Mady and everyone knew that. He also shook hands with Torres.

"Good afternoon Alpha," Lexi greeted politely.

"Afternoon Lexi. How are you?" he asked.

"I'm fine, thank you Alpha," she replied.

"Where's Aunt Judith and Simon?" Mady asked curiously.

"Did someone ask for me?" Aunt Judith asked in a happy tone walking out of the kitchen. Mady squealed, running into her arms again.

"It feels just like yesterday since your fathers come to this pack every single year just for this trip. We did so many..."

"Embarrassing things?" Mady asked cutting him off.

"I was going to say fun things but there's that too," he responded. Torres excused himself to pick up a call.

"A businessman is always a businessman," Uncle Xander stated. Torres laughed before heading out. I noticed Lexi still glancing around the room in awe.

"You have to tell me all the embarrassing stuff Mum and Dad did. I need to have something in defense in case trouble finds its way to me," Mady said.

"I will be glad to. Anything to rile those three up. But, let's have dinner first," he suggested. Mady's face contorted into a frown at the mention of food. She almost puked. "You are cooking?" she asked.

"Yes, is there anything wrong with that?' she asked worriedly.

"No. It's just we already ate our fill on the airplane. I don't think I have any more room to eat more. This is such a shame. I missed your cooking," she explained.

"It's no problem. You can all eat it later," she assured him.

"Thank you, aunt. But we have to go now," Mady replied.

"Aren't you staying with us here? The house is more than enough for you all. You can bring as many friends as you want. It's fine by us," Aunt Judith said. We always spoke about this whenever we came.

"We would have loved to but we can't. Due to so many reasons that I'm sure you know of. That doesn't mean we won't be visiting. We are going to visit every single day till you get tired of seeing our faces," Mady promised.

"If you say so," she replied. We all walked back to the car after we were done and the driver drove us back to the hotel. When we arrived, we found out that the others also had arrived. All the rooms were almost taken. Torres and I paired up in one room while Mady and Lexi paired up in another. It was already late and no one had any plans of coming back down for dinner or anything else. Having sorted that out, we all bid ourselves good night and headed to our various rooms.

"Crazy day right?" Torres asked as we walked into our room.

"Tell me about it," I replied.

"Among what happened today, Rachel surprised me the most," he started. I sighed. We still hadn't talked about what he saw the other day.

"Why does it surprise you?" I inquired.

"You know why," he replied.

"Whatever you saw wasn't what it seemed like. It was all a misunderstanding," I explained. He stared at me skeptically.

"Why is it that hard for you to believe that I have no romantic relationship whatsoever with Rachel?" I asked dropping off my suitcase.

"Based on what I witnessed the other day and what happened when we were kids..."

"What happened when we were kids?" I asked opening up the suitcase and trying to organize my stuff.

"Common, do you really need me to spell it out for you?" he asked. I knew what he was talking about.

"It's all a misunderstanding. I don't see Rachel in that way. Not now and not when we were kids," I repeated.

"But you see Lexi in that way," he stated. I whipped my head towards him abruptly.

"What?" I asked in surprise.

"I'm not stupid Mason and I've known you long enough to be able to read some of your feelings. I've seen the way you talk to her and look at her. I'm sure Mady also notices that. Don't even try to deny it. I've seen you on numerous occasions like today when you held her suitcase. You never do that for anyone except Mady," he explained. I turned back towards the wardrobe.

"What if I'm doing this because she's Mady's friend and I see her the way I see Mady?" I asked, looking unfazed.

"Really?" he inquired. The doorbell suddenly rang.

"I will get it," he said walking towards the door. "Someone is here to see you," he called out after a while. "Who?" I asked.

"The one who thinks she's what she's not. The misconception," he replied dramatically.
