Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 64
Mason's POV
Thoughts of Lexi filled my head as I tossed and turned in my bed unable to fall asleep. Friends? I recalled her words. That was all she wanted us to be. How she could deny the bond between us and suggest to be just friends still baffled me. But I agreed to it because it was better than how we were before. I could also see that she was not completely past her former relationship. She needed time and even though she won't tell me about it, it was completely fine by me. My phone suddenly dinged. "Stop moving so much. I can hear your bed creaking from here. I can't sleep," Torres sent me a message complaining.
"I can see you read it. Why aren't you replying? Is something bothering you?" he asked.
"Is it about the same girl?"
"You know you can tell me anything right? I will be willing to help."
"I can tell you aren't asleep. Are you ignoring me on purpose?"
"Mason!" my phone dinged repeatedly from the countless messages Torres was sending me. I ignored him and decided to text Lexi. But what was I supposed to say to her? My hand roamed over her number but my mind was blank. I was clueless when it came to this type of thing. Usually, it was the girls who did this type of thing.
"Why don't you text her as a friend?" Lyall suggested.
"What am I supposed to text a friend? I haven't had any female friends apart from Rachel and we haven't spoken in a long time," I responded.
He groaned. "You are clueless."
"Tell me something I don't know," I replied with a sigh.
"Bid her good night. It's a start right?" he inquired. I nodded in agreement and started to type.
"Will it be too much to add a heart at the end?" I asked curiously. The silence that followed told me how bad of an idea he thought it was.
"Yes, it's definitely cheesy," I muttered to myself trying to erase it but my finger mistakenly clicked the send button. I leapt up abruptly as my eyes widened in horror.
"What have I done?" I whispered. What was she going to think of me?
"What am I going to do with you?" Lyall asked mentally facepalming himself. Soon enough, it showed that she had read it. I gasped in shock. I wanted to quickly delete it but she beat me to it. Mady and Torres would laugh at me if they saw me behaving this way. The next few minutes were torturous for me because it showed she had read it but she wasn't replying. Now I knew how Torres felt. I quickly picked up my phone that was on the bed when I saw that she was beginning to reply.
"I would hate for anyone to see us like this. This is so embarrassing," Lyall said. I ignored him and watched my phone keenly.
"Is this message for me?" she wrote. What was I supposed to say? Should I deny it?.
"Yes," I typed and sent it. There was no use lying about it when the deed was already d one and I didn't want her to have any misunderstanding. I waited for a while before she finally responded. Posted by FindNovel.net; visit us for more free novels. "Have a goodnight too, friend."
I scoffed in disbelief. Was the friend part really necessary? She just friend zoned me twice. I gently laid back down on my bed. At least she replied, if it was before, she would have ignored me. This just shows that we've progressed a lot. I went to bed with a smile on my face.

The following morning, I woke up in great spirits. I had a peaceful night and I was happy. Torres was still asleep so I started cleaning the whole apartment. After I was done, I began to cook while whistling a tune.
"Someone is in a good mood, with the apron and everything," Torres grumbled as he walked out of his room.
"You look like you just fought a war. What happened to your hair?" I asked, pointing my spatula towards his disheveled hair.
"I couldn't sleep. I was up all night doing some urgent paperwork that my assistant had to present to a company this morning," he replied, taking a seat.
"Can't he do the work? That's what you pay assistants for right?" I inquired.
"I can't do that. My uncle is waiting for any slight mistake on my part to take me down. Everything has to be perfect which is why I need to do everything myself," he explained.
"Your uncle is still on your case? The company belongs to you now, why won't they just give up?" I asked in surprise. This family war has been going on for years. Aren't they exhausted yet? Torres was still his nephew after all.
"I know my uncle and he can drag this case for more than fifty years if he wants. All they want to see is my downfall which will never happen as long as I resolve the company issues by myself," he responded.
"Either way, you came here to relax. Don't overwork yourself," I advised.
"Is that concern I sense? Are you that worried about me that you woke up early just to cook?" he inquired with a smile.
"In your dreams," I responded. I suddenly heard my phone ringing from my room. I continued stirring the broth without paying much attention to it. But, a thought occurred to me. What if it was Lexi? I quickly dropped my spatula and wiped my hands on the clean cloth in the kitchen.
"Stir this until I get back. Do not let it burn," I warned as I walked into my room.
"I have to cook now? I thought you were the one cooking for me?" he groaned.
"All you need to do is stir, stop being so dramatic," I replied, closing the door firmly after me. I hurriedly picked up my phone without looking at the caller ID.
"That was fast. I didn't think you would pick up so soon." I frowned. That didn't sound like Lexi's voice at all.
"Dad?" I inquired.
"Were you expecting someone else to pick up?" I heard Vivian ask.
"Vivian? Aren't you supposed to be home with mum and our fathers?" I asked in surprise. What was he doing with Dad? By dad, I meant Cole. The one who raised us from birth.
"Why? Can't I come here because he didn't raise me along with you and Mady?" she asked, sounding annoyed.
I sighed. "You know that wasn't what I meant." We mostly spent most of our holidays at his house. Although he didn't end up with mum, we were all still family. I was just surprised that Vivian went over there and I didn't know about it. How would you know, when you've refused to call your parents? My inner voice replied but I pushed the thought away.
"But you thought about it," she retorted.
"Don't be upset princess. I'm sure your brother didn't mean it. He was just surprised you were here," he gently cajoled her.
"You all went on a trip and left me behind. Did you think I was going to stay at home alone?" she asked. I knew where this was heading towards.
"Are you still upset princess? What can I do to make it up to you? Anything at all?" he asked. I knew she was smiling even though I couldn't see her.
"I will write a list and bring it over to you right away," she replied excitedly. I knew it. She wasn't really upset. She was just faking it.
"Bye Mason. I will call you later, make sure you pick my call right away," she said sternly.
"Fine," I muttered. It became quiet from their side, so quiet that I thought he hung up.
"How are you and your sister doing?" he inquired.
"We are fine. Congratulations on the opening of your new company," I replied. The news made the headline for weeks.
"Thank you. Are you sure you are okay?Your mum called and she didn't sound too good. Although she won't tell me, I knew something was wrong. If there's anything bothering you, you can always speak to me," he said.
"It's nothing serious but if something comes up, I will let you know," I replied.
"Mady also told me what happened at the party," he started.
"They are all exaggerating. It's really nothing," I responded.
"If you say so. There is news all over the internet about you and one girl named Rachel. The blogs are saying you are dating. Even though Mady refuted those claims..."
"Mady's post was right. Everything the reporters are saying are all false. I'm not dating Rachel," I quickly said, cutting him off.
"That's right dad. He's not dating Rachel," I heard Mady's voice behind me. I wasn't startled because I was used to it.
"Aren't you surprised that I sneaked up on you?" she asked.
"Not even for a second. Take this, I need to go back to the kitchen before Torres burns the hotel down. I will be right back," I said, shoving the phone in her hands and rushing out. I almost bumped into Lexi on my way out. She stared at me in surprise. I suddenly remembered the message I sent the previous day. "Hi," she muttered with a smile.
