Amber froze.

Sean knocked off the resignation in Amber’s hand, and it swirled onto the floor.

Cindy is your daughter…

This sentence was stuck in Amber’s throat. She couldn’t swallow or spit it out.

Sean’s gaze fell on him, like a knife, cutting Amber’s fragile nerve.
