Promises Forgotten
Chapter 34

“Premium Outlets? Isn’t that a contradiction?”

Evie threw her hands up. “Alright, Mr. Rich. You know, normal people don’t just f*****g rent out an entire store for their pleasure.”

“I’ve only done that three times. Jason usually is the one who decides every three months he wants a whole new wardrobe.”

She turned and looked at me, I figured to see if I was kidding. She inhaled. “I was joking but you aren’t, are you?”

Shaking my head, I pushed my sunglasses up on my head. “So where are we going to find some clothes in this place?”

“Oh god, what have I gotten myself into?” She g*****d, but grabbed my hand, pulling me up to a directory. “Let’s see what they have here.”

“Isn’t Levi’s a jeans brand?” I pointed to a store name.

She nodded. “But they are kind of on the pricey side…” Her voice trailed off.

“Evie.”

She didn’t hear me, still looking over the map.

“Evie!”

Evie jumped and looked up at me. “What?”

“Levi’s is fine.”

Blinking a couple times, I saw a blush come across her face. “Shit, I forgot who I was talking to.”

I started to laugh and shook my head. “Woman, you are something else. Is there anywhere you want to go in here? I don’t think I can buy the whole mall, but I can get close.”

Her face paled and she turned her head. “No. Thank. You. Sir.”

Taking my hand, we walked together through the stores and people. She window shopped, pointing out different things. Every time, I asked if she wanted something though, Evie declined and we continued walking. I didn’t know what to do with her. Usually, I offered to pay for anything, and girls jumped at the chance to be spoiled. Evie just looked uncomfortable and so I stopped asking. We stopped in front of a store, and she pushed me in. Grabbing an associate, she spoke to them and pointed to me.

“I’m gonna go to a couple different stores. Get jeans and a normal t-shirt. Just wear them out and put those in the bag.” She gestured to my current outfit like it was detestable. “I’ll meet you outside the food court in like, 20 minutes. Sound good?”

I was about to whine that I didn’t want her to go, but she looked so happy I resigned myself to this plan. Evie skipped off and I sighed. “Just throw me into something that fits.”

The associate chuckled and nodded. “She said you haven’t really slummed it in a department store before.”

I grimaced. “She’s not wrong.”

“Alright, follow me and we can get your size real quick. There are different cuts so you can decide which you like best.”

Shoving my hands in my pockets, I just followed the associate through the store. She picked up a dark blue t-shirt and handed it to me. “You look like a medium?”

I nodded. “I don’t remember but it looked right.” My eyes look at the shirt she was holding up.

Taking it, she asked about my pant size and I shrugged. “Do you have a tag on your pants?”

It was my turn to go slightly red. “No. It’s custom.”

She blinked at me for a moment and then nodded. “Alright. Well. Um…” She looked around. “Let me get one of the guys to measure your waist and pant leg and we can get you your size.” Motioning me toward the dressing room, I followed her lead and waited for the other associate.

The whole ordeal took about 10 minutes, but I was now decked out in a new shirt, shoes, and jeans. I added the shoes because I thought it completed the look. The shirt felt a little small, but we tried on the large and it was too big. It cost me a whopping $119, which I thought was ridiculous for a full outfit, but Evie probably would have thought it was way too expensive.

Walking around, I still had 10 minutes to kill. My eyes stopped at a jewelry store. Narrowing my eyes, I looked around before I slipped in. Immediately, three associates were asking me what I was looking for and I just smiled at them. Looking through the cases, everything seemed so small. My mother’s ring was a ridiculous size. I knew that, even for our circle, but all these seemed so small.

Narrowing my eyes, I leaned over a cabinet in the far corner. Looking up, I motioned to one of the associates.

“Can I see this one?”

“The rose gold?”

I nodded and waited for him to bring it up. Holding it in my fingers, I looked at the band and narrowed my eyes. It seemed too much. Placing it down, I looked at a ring that had a little ‘clearance’ tag on it. I pointed to that one and the associate brought it up as well. This one was a white gold with black and white diamonds twisting around a black solitaire. Smiling, I could see Evie wearing this. It would go with everything she had worn while we were together.

“How much is this one?”

“This one is on sale for $769. Originally was $1,100.”

My eyes widened for a second and I looked down at the ring. The outfit that was now folded in my bag was worth more than that.

“What size is it?”

“I will check, but I believe it’s a size five.”

Nodding, I smiled. It should fit perfectly. He quickly rang me up and I placed the box in my bag of clothes. Walking out, I headed in the direction I thought was the food court. Evie was standing in line at one of the stalls when I got there. Coming up behind her, I kissed her head and she laughed. Turning, she stepped back and took in my new look. This time I absolutely felt her eye-f*****g me.

“Damn, you look good.” She chewed on her l*p.

“Evie, don’t do that or I will find a corner and take you right here and now.” I growled at her.

A smile spread to her face and I could see her imagining it. I pulled her roughly to me and kissed her ferociously.

“I missed you.”

“Twenty minutes, sir.”

I hummed. “Too long.”

She was quiet for a moment and I saw the blush cover her face. “I agree.”

This time I snickered and kissed her forehead. “Come on, silly. Let’s get your snack and go hiking like you want.”

“Alright alright. You want something?”

I shook my head. “I got everything I needed.”

Looking at the ring on her finger, I knew I chose right. It fit perfectly and I looked down at the band on my own finger. Somehow everything aligned. After going on the hike, I had pulled over and proposed to her properly. We got married last night and now I decided we were going to have a proper honeymoon.

I decided to wear the jeans I bought, but a button up black shirt that I already had. Evie was also in jeans, but she was wearing her black tube top and a leather jacket. She looked stunning, but her face was turned away from me, taking in the drive.

“You weren’t serious about the private jet, right?”

Smiling, I looked out at the hanger the driver was turning in to. “What do you think, wife?”

“I don’t know, husband. Part of me is hoping you were joking.”

The driver pulled into the hanger where our family’s private jet currently was waiting for us. I heard her squeal for a moment and look from the plane back to me. She inhaled sharply.

“Z, we can’t.”

I laughed. “Well, I’m not about to take a commercial flight. So, you’re coming with me.”

“I…but…wait…why?”

“Goddess divine, as much as I know you don’t care, if the name Zachary Anderson and a woman named Evelyn Anderson showed up on the flight list, the paparazzi would swarm. It would be utter chaos. I’m okay with announcing you to the world as my wife, but I would like to enjoy my honeymoon first.”

She seemed to take my explanation and I got out of the car. Holding out my hand for her, she took it and got out. Our hands intertwined and we walked to the stairwell of the plane. I saw the pilot giving me a look before nodding to me. Walking behind her, I got to enjoy a perfect view of her a*s walking up the steep steps and I took in the sight with complete appreciation.

Ducking into the plane, Evie was looking at everything like a kid in a candy store. I smiled and turned to the pilot.

“You got the flight information?”

“Yes, sir. Greece is the destination, correct?”

I nodded. “Perfect. Thank you. Please don’t speak about this trip to my family. I will handle everything with them.”

“Yes sir. Is she…?”

“My wife.”

The pilot coughed and cleared his throat. “Yes, sir. We will be stopping at JFK, then in Montreal to refuel for the trip.”

“Sounds good. I appreciate it.” I patted him on the back and went to sit.

Evie came back and joined me in the seat next to me. “Is there a bed in here as well?”

“You want to see the bed?” My brow raised and a smirk came to my face.

I expected a blush on her face. I was rewarded with one, but there was a mischievous glint in her eyes as well.

“Maybe I do. What are you going to do about it, Mr. Anderson?”

“Well, Mrs. Anderson, I will show you everything once we get into the air. I promise. We have an 18 hour flight, roughly. I promise we will have plenty of time for you to join the mile high club.”

She laughed. “I don’t want to know how many girls have been on this plane.”

I looked away from her, my fingers lacing together. “None. This is for family and business only.”

Her head rested on my shoulder and her fingers broke apart from mine, only to interlock with them again. “You are my family now.”

Nodding, I turned and kissed her head. “And you are mine. I love you.”

“I love you too, Z.”
