Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 718
"Clap..."
When they returned to the flat ground from the ruins, there was a burst of applause outside.
A lot of medical and rescue teams, volunteers, and the local people, all surrounded there and expected the success of rescue. When they saw the survivor who was carried out on stretchers and the others came out one after another, some people clapped their hands first. Then the applause moved more people to cheer for them.
Simon, however, was very calm. He held her hand and walked through the crowd.
Emily followed him closely. Listening to the applause all the way, she had an illusion of glory. It seemed that Simon see through what she was thinking, he put his hand around her shoulder. "They applauded not only for me and the rescue team, but also for you!"
She felt a little ashamed after hearing his remark, because she went there only for Simon. She felt it lucky that she didn't make any trouble.
Looking back at the ruins, Emily thought for a moment and said sincerely, "There are a lot of firemen and soldiers here who saved so many people regardless of hardship and sacrifice. But I think that you are also a hero like them!"
Just now, she noticed that many female nurses and female volunteers looked at Simon with admiration. If it weren't for his big hand holding her, they would have rushed over excitedly.
Simon raised his eyebrows and asked slowly, "Do you still dream of marrying a soldier now?"
When he went out just now, he looked serious. But he regained his languid look now and was staring at her with his smiling attractive eyes.
"..." Emily was embarrassed.
She said that a long time ago, but he still remembered it!
Emily thought that Simon was so narrowminded...
Feeling that the strength on her shoulder increased, Emily raised her head subconsciously. With a faint smile and light in his eyes, he said in a deep voice, "I don't expect to be a hero. Mrs. Chin, you must remember that I am just your man, your husband!"
The last few words impressed her a lot.
Emily lowered her eyelids to conceal her embarrassment caused by Simon's teases.
When she walked back to the tent, she couldn't help thinking that his injured knee knelt down and he treated the wounded with a serious and dedicated look.
Even if he didn't wear the white gown, he still looked great and admirable.
Emily raised her eyelids, bit her lip, and quietly peered at his perfect profile. Then, she heard him say, "Since you want to see me, don't sneak around!"
." She couldn't help rolling her eyes.
The time spent in the disaster area was very long, but it was also very fast. In the blink of an eye, a week had passed. A lot of soldiers and firemen had left, and other people had also been transferred. If she hadn't been on the spot, she would know that mankind was so weak and powerless in the face of nature.
There was a camera on Emily's neck. She recorded the quiet scene after the earthquake in the disaster area. She believed that the place would be rebuilt better like the other areas.
The things were almost all packed up, because she only had a mountaineering bag. All the camera equipments were handed back to her colleague who had left early in the morning. Simon was the same as her and even took less stuffs, only two or three pieces of clean clothes. The tent they had been sleeping in these days had been torn down.
When Simon took over the mountaineering bag in her hand, Emily heard someone call her from behind.
She looked back and saw that the familiar boy was running over breathlessly. He was carrying a large backpack on his back. Almost all the volunteers had left, and the boy was one of the few remaining volunteers. Today, there was an arranged bus to take them to the airport.
After the boy calmed his breath, he asked with a smile, "Sister Emily, you also return to Ice city today, right? We can go together. Maybe we can take the same flight!"
"I'm sorry, but we won't go back, today" Simon answered for her gloomily.
Emily asked in surprise, "Are we not going back?"
Simon glanced at her and said, "Hmm, I'll take you to the Sagria City to stay for a few days!"
"..." Emily opened her mouth but didn't say anything after noticing his meaningful look.
"Well, that's a pity. I have to go back now. The teachers in the emergency department are all very supportive of me. But I'm a bit busy in my fourth year. I'm going to graduate this summer, so I have to spend much time writing theses!" The boy was obviously a little disappointed. Then he looked at Simon, who was unhappy. He scratched his head and hesitated to ask her, "Sister Emily, can we still contact each other after returning to Ice city? May I have your phone number?"
Without paying any attention to Simon's fierce eyes, Emily nodded happily. "Of course you can!"
She really admired the boy in front of her, and she was also willing to be friends with him. Especially in such a tough environment, he had been working hard with no complain for so long. Not everyone could be a qualified volunteer. Her perseverance and kindness deserved the admiration of others.
When she was about to tell him the number, Simon next to her suddenly reached out his hand and said, "Give me your phone. I'll record the phone number for you."
Upon hearing this, both the boy and Emily were surprised. Then the boy quickly took out his mobile phone and handed it over.
After Simon took it, he lowered his head and quickly recorded the number. He even asked thoughtfully, "How about marking the number with 'Sister Emily'?"
"Yes!" The boy nodded continuously.
After Simon finished it, he returned the phone to the boy.
The boy was flattered and took it with his hands. He was grateful and said, "Thank you, Dr. Chin!"
Simon said with a faint smile, "You're welcome!"
The boy put the mobile phone back into his pocket and held up the backpack on his back. He grinned and said, "Hey, Sister Emily, I'll contact you when I go back! Then I'll go first to take the bus. Wish you all have a safe trip. See you later!"
Emily smiled and waved her hand. "Goodbye, Karen!"
After the boy ran to the distant bus, she turned her face to look at the man next to her. Squinting her eyes, she asked suspiciously, "Simon, were you so kind to help him?"
He originally didn't want the boy to go with them. But in the next second, he took the initiative to help him record her phone number.
"Mn." Simon answered casually.
Emily looked back at the sun in the east and said incredulously, "You wouldn't do that unless the sun rose from the west."
Simon glanced at her and slowly said, "I record my phone number."
"..." Emily's eyes widened.
Her suspicion was right!
