Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 733
Emily was surprised. "Why are we here?"
"We need to do some homework beforehand! Simon's brows arched.
Before she could protest, he pushed his way inside through the glass doors. The hour might be late and the shop was empty except for a pair of clerks who were going through the books for today and the sound of the glass doors swinging open made one of them scrambled to meet them.
"Welcome, sir and madam!"
The clerk peered at them, greeting them warmly. "You look like parents-to-be. Is there anything I can help you with?"
Emily grimaced at how composed Simon seemed to be. So flustered that she did not know where to place her hands, she gasped bashfully, "Maybe we can just walk around ourselves." "Of course! Just holler if you need anything!" the clerk smiled.
Blue and pink plushies bedecked the interior of the little store. Everything for sale was small; ranging from little bibs, tiny milk bottles, little finger-like socks, and mini-sized shirts...
It was Emily's first time wandering in a shop like this and seeing everything here set her into a strange and inexplicable mood.
She tilted her head to try to get a good look at him. His almond-shaped eyes surveyed the wares in the store with a gentle look in his eyes. He reached for a little cap, holding it in his long and svelte fingers, clutching it while feeling its fabric brushing on his palm with a mellow look in his eyes.
She walked down the aisle between the shelves and noticed that he stopped whenever he saw anything pink.
She couldn't help but swallow her saliva. He really wants a daughter!
The clerk peered at their direction every now and then and Emily felt slightly embarrassed. She tugged at his sleeve and said, "It's too early to come here yet, Simon!"
"I made a wish when I was at Sunzy Temple," Simon said pensively suddenly.
She remembered his vow and her face went pink. In his hands, Simon was still holding something pink - a little baby bodice. She bit her lip and asked, "What if it's not a daughter?"
Simon's brows furrowed at that as if he really was contemplating that possibility.
He said suddenly, "Then we'll make more. I'm sure we'll get a daughter in the end!"
Emily was stunned to hear that, remembering how he had called her a pig when he found her asleep in the hospital corridor. She muttered with exasperation, "What do you think I am? A female sow?!" "Mmmhmm," Simon answered lazily.
Emily puffed her cheeks like an annoyed little lass. Before she could lose her temple, he coiled an arm around her waist to pull her into him and he bent down to whisper into her ears, "You're not a sow. You're my Mrs. Chin!"
He did it on purpose. He made her angry only to slip in something loving to sound romantic!
Emily looked up and her eyes met his alluring eyes and felt herself softened like a marshmallow.
The clinic of the private hospital.
Simon was sitting in front of his desk in his white lab coat, making some notations on a patient's file with a pen. He glanced at his computer screen. It was lunchtime, but he still had one more patient waiting for him. It was his duty as a doctor to see patients. 25.
His head was still down when the nurse led the patient and he asked customarily, "How are we today?"
But he waited for seconds and the patient gave no response.
Simon frowned and looked up. To his surprise, it was Addy Swan grinning at him.
"Simon!"
He was stunned and his fingers stopped. "What brought you here, Addy?"
She placed her handbag on the table and said with a smile, "I'm not feeling well, so I want Dr. Chin to have a look at me!"
"Stop fooling around!" Simon grinned back at her.
He clipped his pen at the pocket of his white coat and moved his mouse around to shut off his computer. He flipped his patient files shut and deposited them all into the drawer of his desk.
"I'm the last number today. There's no one else behind. So don't worry, I won't be causing a nuisance to anyone!" Addy said.
"Mmmhmm." Simon nodded.
Addy stared at him from across his desk and slowly said, "Simon... About that night..."
"I know, you had too much to drink that night!"
Simon squinted his eyes at her jovially.
"It's not that!" Addy clenched her fists tightly, her rosy lips turning pudgy as a flustered her struggled to rein in the excitement in her voice, "Simon... I... I mean..."
Knock! Knock!
The office door opened suddenly.
She used a little too much strength that when she ripped the door open, it tremored even after she stumbled in to find who it was sitting opposite Simon. Confounded, she yelped, "1-1..." Simon leaned back on his chair, looking at her with those lazy eyes of his, "Are you going to destroy public property, Mrs. Chin?"
Embarrassed Emily put a hand to the door as if trying to stop the vibration. She gulped hard and stammered, "I was just nearby for an interview and saw that it was lunchtime, so I was wondering if you would like to eat together..."
She was receiving a follow-up report from a municipal committee meeting just nearby the hospital. After the meeting, she did not go back with her colleague. She called a cab and came here instead, hoping to find Simon.
When she exited the elevator, she saw that the consultation session had ended and an inquiry at the counter told her that Simon was still in his room, hence she tried to play a prank on him. But she did not expect to find Addy Swan in there too.
"Well, I was going to call Simon to have lunch together too! Come join us!" Addy got up from her chair, picking up her bag with her with a broad smile on her face. Her doey eyes looked at Simon, "I saw a restaurant that makes good boiled fish just opposite. You like Sichuan mala flavor, don't you? Let's go!"
Simon peered at Emily and said simply, "Anything."
"What about you, Emily?" Addy asked.
Emily pursed her lips and hesitated, "I'm coming."
It became a lunch for three. The restaurant was just to the corner opposite the hospital and there was no need to drive. They crossed the road and Simon, with his white lab coat left in his office, walked between them both.
While crossing the road, he deliberately took a pause so that Emily and he were walking behind.
Emily watched the slender figure in front of her walking ahead and bit her lip and asked, "Miss Song... Why is she at the hospital too?
"She came in barely five minutes ago before you came."
"Oh..." Emily said in a low voice.
"Are you feeling jealous again?" Simon's warm lips came close enough for her to feel his heat.
"What nonsense are you talking about!" Emily's face suddenly turned red.
When Addy turned back, she saw the two of them holding hands, whispering to each other while looking particularly intimate and eyecatching.
She could not help but feel nervous. But she quickly calmed down after remembering something.
