Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 764
After coming out of the bathroom, Emily carried a thermos flask and walked to the water fountain. As she walked, she heard the noise at the entrance of the elevator. Looking over, she saw a middle-aged woman who was plainly dressed sitting on the ground, weeping buckets with a lot of inspection and laboratory reports scattered by her feet.
There was a jostling crowd of on-lookers, and some kindly went up to support her.
Seeing the nurse also stopping there, she curiously asked, "What's going on?"
"Oh! Her daughter!" The nurse sighed. "She was admitted to our hospital in an accident. She had a hairline fracture, but it was nothing serious. But recently, her daughter kept saying that her stomach was painful and that she couldn't eat anything sometimes. She even felt nauseous and began to vomit frequently. After medical tests, she found herself got gastric cancer!"
"Gastric cancer?" Emily asked, a little taken aback.
The nurse nodded and continued with sympathy, "Yes! Her daughter is your age. No wonder that she cried so bitterly. I heard that she is terminally ill with cancer! She is really pitiful. At such a young age, she has to suffer from such a terrible disease!"
Emily thought of something and her heart skipped a beat.
Seeing that her face turned pale, the nurse asked with concern, "Hey, are you okay?"
"I'm fine!" Emily shook her head.
She carried the thermos flask and walked back to the ward. After just two steps, she couldn't help but turn back again and looked at the woman who was still crying with her hands covering her face at the elevator door. The sound of sobbing echoed in her ears.
Emily licked her dry lips, and she looked a little flustered.
D*mn! She shouldn't be that unfortunate, right?
God was too cruel to her if she was seriously ill after divorce. At this time, she had no suspicion whether she got pregnant, instead, she firmly believed that she had an incurable disease.
After returning home that night, Emily told her doubts to her best friend Wendy. The next morning, they hailed a taxi and hurried to the hospital.
The elevator descended steadily. Whenever it reached a floor, the door would open, and many people entered or went out.
Emily stood in the back corner.
Even though Wendy had been holding her hand tightly, she could only feel cold. The clothes on her back were damp with sweat, and the chill was permeating her skin and bones.
She was looking at the ever-changing red figures with a faraway look in her eyes.
"Congratulations, Miss Sang. You are four weeks and three days along in your pregnancy!"
"Are you sure?"
"Of course! Based on your hormone levels and all the data on the test sheet, you are pregnant, and the embryo is quite well at present! The embryo will grow rapidly and it becomes a fetus at twelve weeks. Then we can see your baby from ultra- sound radiography!"
The elderly gynecologist continued to speak in a gentle voice.
These days, Emily mistakenly thought her physical discomforts as signs of some incurable diseases. After coming to the hospital, she was transferred to the obstetrics and gynecology department. When the result came out, she didn't dare to see it. Her best friend Wendy helped her to get it.
Then, she entered the doctor's office again to make sure she was just pregnant.
At the side, Wendy gently shook her hand. "Emily, the elevator is here!"
"Ah... Okay!" Emily seemed to have just come out of her trance.
She walked out of the elevator. In just a few steps, she stumbled and almost fell several times. Fortunately, Wendy supported her with her arm all the time and gave her strength. Something suddenly occurred to her.
Emily was aware of her condition, and she almost forgot that this was the private hospital where Simon worked. The taxi driver took them directly to a hospital nearest to her apartment. If she met him....
Emily took a deep breath and wanted to speed up her pace. However, when she was walking to the door, Wendy, who was next to her, suddenly looked panicked. She lowered his voice and whispered, "Emily, Dr. Chin is coming over!"
Upon hearing this, Emily's whole body stiffened.
Looking up, she did see Simon, dressed in a doctor's coat, coming from the pharmacy in a hurry. The wind from his steps blew up the hem of his coat, and he stopped within striking distance.
As their eyes met, Emily felt as if her heart was about to stop beating.
She lowered her eyes in panic, focusing on his bright leather shoes. And above her head, she could feel that he was stonily staring at her face. "Why are you here?"
Emily was afraid that he would find any clues, so she hid the test sheet behind her back.
She heard Wendy, who was smiling beside her, said, "I felt uncomfortable, so I asked her to go to the hospital with me!"
"Well, Miss Lim!" Hearing this, Simon lost the taut air of anxiety. "What's wrong? What is ailing you? Would you like me to take you to an expert?"
Wendy was afraid that he might see through her, so she quickly waved her hand and said, "No, no... uh, I just ate some expired food. It's all right! Thank you, Dr. Chin!"
Emily's scalp went numb because of nervousness. She was afraid that if Simon asked her a few more questions, her trembles might betray her.
Fortunately, a nurse rushed to Simon and urged him to the ward for an emergency case.
After seeing him and the nurse leave quickly, Emily, with her best friend, almost ran out of the hospital.
The taxi drove at a constant speed on the street. The chilly days in spring had passed, and the temperature went up again. All the trees along the road pushed out new shoots, and small green spots came out. Emily's eyes were fixed on the green spots, thinking of her past life.
She and her girlfriend took a taxi and left the hospital. But halfway, Wendy received a call from the magazine and left in a hurry when they stopped at the red light. Now she was the only passenger in the car. "Sir, please stop there!"
Emily pushed open the back door and got out. She found a bench by the side of the road and sat down.
She took out her hand that had been stuck in her pocket and unrolled the test sheet in her hand.
Even though it was crumpled beyond recognition, the word "positive" was still clear on it.
She rested her hand on her lower abdomen, and she felt nothing but the flesh through the fabric of her clothes. However, she could feel another life in her body, and another soul was breathing with her. Emily never thought about this. Her period was always a week late, so she didn't take three-day postponement seriously.
Before they broke up, she was looking forward to having a child...
But why did this child come at this time?
Suddenly, her cell phone rang in her pocket. She took it out and saw the word "Simon" on the screen. Her hand trembled.
