Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 767
Tina froze at her question. After a brief silence, she replied, "It was an accident. To be honest, I was very panicked because I didn't know who was the child's father. I thought about abortion, so I went to the hospital many times. Maybe it was because the child roused my mothering instincts, but I didn't bear to do it. After all, it is a child, the continuation of my life!"
Tina couldn't help but turn to look at her. Although Emily said she didn't know, she never said that she didn't want a child.
As she had expected, Emily's face was slightly pale because of the forceful vomiting. But her bright eyes were shining. She nodded and said seriously, "Well, Tina, I also want to bring my child into this world." Perhaps, from the very beginning, when she had discovered the existence of this child, she had never thought of killing him.
How could she be willing to have an abortion? That was a child!
"Emily, I'm a single mother. It's tough to raise a child alone!" Tina said anxiously.
"I know it!" Emily nodded without hesitation.
Determination shone in her eyes. As she thought of something, she quickly added, "Tina, I hope you won't..."
Tina interrupted her and held her hand gently. "I know what you want to say. You ask me to hide it from Wilson, don't you?"
"Yes!" Emily nodded.
Tina nodded as well with a worried look on her face. "I promise to you, but Emily, what are you going to do?"
She had been asked about this more than once, and her best friend, Wendy, had also asked her this question.
Emily looked down at the slightly rippling water in the cup as she experienced a bewildering array of emotions. She did not choose to tell Simon because they had an agreement. From the second when they came out of the Civil Hall, they might as well have been strangers.
Now, Addy had returned.
She didn't want to use the child to bring him back to her, and she was afraid that he wouldn't want the child. Although she was not very sure about this, after all, he had been talking about having a child before, but now they had divorced! If he wanted the child, he had Addy, would he take away her child...
A shiver ran down her spine. She would never allow that to happen!
She took a deep breath. In just a few seconds, she had made a decision in her heart. She raised her head and said slowly, "Tina, I decide to resign and go to Canada!"
"You want to leave Ice city?" Tina cried out in shock.
"Yes!" Emily nodded her head firmly.
What's more, her belly would get bigger and bigger as the months went by. Although Ice city was big, they would meet again. At that time, she couldn't hide it from him, not to mention that she had to give birth. Since Simon was a doctor and Young Master Chin, he might know that he was the father of her child!
So after thinking for a while, she decided to go with Wendy, who was about to go to Canada. In this way, even if she was in a foreign country, she would not afraid because her best friend would accompany her...
After getting off work that day, the other colleagues hurried to pack their things and go home. Instead of leaving in a hurry, she went to the chief editor's office.
When she knocked on the door and entered the office, she was holding an envelope, which contained the resignation letter that she had printed half an hour ago.
In the blink of an eye, it was Friday evening. Emily simply packed her things and bought a train ticket back to the town. One reason was that tomorrow was the day of remembrance of her parents. The other was that if she had gone abroad for such a long time, she must inform her aunt and uncle.
After going from the taxi to the old residential district, she walked into the building with her bag.
Usually, she would ascend the stairs in one breath. But today, every time she reached a floor, she rested because the doctor had told her that she shouldn't overtax herself in early pregnancy, especially in the first three months. So she had to take good care of herself.
As soon as she inserted the key into the lock, the door was pushed open from the inside for they heard it. Emily smiled and called out "uncle".
Her uncle was a little surprised and quickly stepped aside to let her in.
Aunt who wore an apron came out of the kitchen and asked, "Is Emily here?"
"Aunt!" Emily called out.
Upon seeing her, aunt beamed at her but also looked behind and asked in surprise, "Hey, why are you alone? Where's Simon. Didn't he come with you? I thought that Selena would come earlier, you and Simon would drive back tomorrow morning!"
Emily stopped changing shoes on the spot for she didn't know how to respond.
At this moment, Selena came over and said, "Simon must have a lot of work to do in the hospital!"
"Yes." Emily nodded slowly.
"Alright!" Hearing this, aunt tenderly nodded. "Doctor is different from other jobs. Every day, doctors are fighting a desperate battle to save people's lives, especially Simon. He is a surgeon. He performs numerous operations. He not less busy than you! Emily, care for him, don't blame him."
When aunt and uncle went into the kitchen to carry the dishes, Selena said in a low voice, "Sis, I haven't told my parents about your divorce!"
"I know." Emily nodded levelly.
She thought that big mouth, Selena, would secretly tell her parents, but she didn't say anything. In fact, on the way back, she hadn't decided how to say that they had divorced...
Emily finally understood why Simon chose to hide it from his grandmother because both of them didn't want to let their family members down.
After her parents passed away, her aunt and uncle brought her up as their own child. She didn't want to upset them. Since they still didn't know it, she planned to keep it a secret. This time, she would spend one or two years abroad. By that time, she would use the excuse of long-term separation to explain their divorce to her family.
After dinner, Emily and her cousin went back to their room to sleep and lay on two separate beds.
Although the lights were turned off, Selena didn't seem sleepy. She turned over and craned her head out of the quilt. She asked, "Sis, are you asleep?"
"Yes." Emily replied carelessly.
"Tsk, how can you talk when you're asleep!" Selena pouted and opened and shut her mouth, unspeaking. However, she could not help but ask, "Sis, are you sure you won't reconcile with Simon?" .." Emily pursed her lips and said nothing.
Seeing that she didn't answer, Selena sat up, reached out to pull her quilt and said, "Sis, I still think it's a pity that you two divorced. Although you got married with an agreement, you still have feelings for each other. You lived together for four years, I don't believe you can leave him? Do you need my help? Why don't you try to win him back..."
"Selena, stop it." Emily couldn't take it anymore and interrupted her.
"I'm sorry..." Hearing her voice trembled, Selena said while bitting her lip.
Emily pressed her hand against her chest under the quilt. She sighed softly, closed her eyes and said, "I'm tired, sleep now!"
Selena looked at her for a while. She didn't want to give up, but she could feel Emily's tiredness and melancholy. Finally, she closed her mouth, lay down and closed her eyes to sleep.
Early in the morning the next day, they took flowers that had been prepared in advance, hailed a taxi at the entrance of the residential building to the cemetery.
The town was small. With traffic jams, they arrived at the cemetery in about twenty minutes. Emily's parents' tombstones were built in the innermost place. She and her cousin walked in front, and her aunt and uncle, who were carrying things, walked behind them.
Since it was the weekend, many people came to visit here. When they walked to a quiet mountain road, the tombstones were in front of them.
Suddenly, Selena shouted, "Simon!"
