Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master
Chapter 241 A Direct Rejection

To Isis, only a fool or one with aggressive ambition would decline such an immense opportunity. A fool would be unable to weigh the pros and cons of such a decisions impact on his career. Meanwhile, the one with aggressive aspirations would retreat, perhaps biding time for another day, for the sake of advancing to a higher position. But she felt that Rocky did not seem to fit in either category. He was genuinely rejecting the olive branch her father had extended--an offer that many other men would've died for. There must have been a serious reason for rejecting the proposal. Or perhaps Rocky had a few more secrets he was trying to hide.

"Isn't it too rash to just reject me so quickly? Maybe you need more time to think it over. Take your time, sleep on it. You might change your mind. If that happens, you're welcome to come back to the home base to discuss it with me or my daughter at any time,” Lance explained in a steady tone. The truth was that he had already foreseen Rocky's rejection. He had expected him to refuse; otherwise he would seem as though he were a conniving man looking to climb the ladder.

"Then please allow me to excuse myself," Rocky replied politely, and said nothing more as he turned away, bidding Lance and Isis goodbye with merely a deft fist-and-palm salute.

"Well, Isis? What is your opinion of this young man?" Lance asked, turning to his daughter after Rocky had departed.

"He seems capable enough for the position, but he seems like a strange guy. I feel like that we're not getting the whole story, like he has something to hide. But what I really don't understand, father, is why you want to promote him to be the probationary adjutant general,” Isis finally said, her brow furrowed in confusion.

"I have my own plans. Tell Marin to spare some time and come for a visit here. I have something for her to handle,” Lance told his daughter, deep in thought.

Isis only nodded her head dutifully, trusting him. She looked back the direction of where Rocky had walked away, and lost herself in contemplation.

"The daughter is shrewd and the father is even cannier. The only way to keep things from getting out of hand is to stop coming to this home base,” Rocky murmured to himself even as he glanced back at the camp that he just left. Every time he came by, there always seemed to have trouble. He had only been to the camp twice, but already he had seen the Deputy Commander in Chief undressed, and this time he impressed the Commander in Chief with his performance and was awarded a high position in the army. As the saying went, “Great honors are great burdens.’ All he wanted was to keep a low profile, but fate, it seemed, had other plans. He kept getting mixed up into all kinds of unnecessary problems. 'l feel like the next time I set foot in here, I'll have the whole army on my back!"

Rocky mulled over his situation anxiously, unable to settle his thoughts. Still without a certain course of what to do, he went to the Isis Pavilion.

"You're back! Have you finished your assignment?” Sue greeted Rocky upon seeing him. She enjoyed her time playing with Little Rubygon.

"I will come back to see you again next time with Little Rubygon,” Rocky just nodded in answer to Sue's greeting and he bid her goodbye. He scooped up Little Rubygon and headed out of the home base. Driving his carriage, he headed towards the branch of the Super Beast Farm.

Shawn was grinning from ear to ear from the moment he laid eyes on Rocky. After all, he made a tremendous sale from the two baskets of treasures that Rocky brought over a while back. The total sale was nearly two hundred thousand golden coins. More importantly, several three-star items among the hoard were sold off at incredible prices, and they were sold out almost immediately. There were even some buyers who tried to drive the prices up to as much as thirty thousand golden coins just to get those items. And even the cheapest items were worth twenty thousand golden coins. The Super Beast Farm had virtually made a fortune out of the sales.

Rocky, for his part, earned roughly one hundred and thirty thousand golden coins even after taking out a thirty percent commission, along with a smaller cut that he had given generously to the boss. Immediately, the money was spent on purchasing necessary materials to construct a lab from the Super Beast Farm. For everything else that the Super Beast Farm did not have in stock, Rocky entrusted Shawn to customize them as he needed from the supplier. Even though Shawn was merely a boss of the branch, the Super Beast Farm enjoyed a certain level of prestige and fame in the Holy Dragon Empire, and even throughout the entire Wild Spirit Land. This led to the building of a sophisticated social network of connections. No matter how scarce a material was, the farm would be able to acquire it upon request, for a good price.

Yes, Shawn had viewed Rocky as their cash cow for a long time now. He would never think to turn down whatever Rocky asked him now. Besides, he was tipped generously for every errand. He would be more than happy to serve his own interests and pockets.

Rocky went shopping in Evian City to make another round of purchases after he finished the transactions in the Super Beast Farm. When he finally headed back, he was fully loaded down with numerous materials meant to foster the construction of his lab.
