Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master
Chapter 327 Speaking Like A Dictionary

"Oh, I need to go to the logistics camp to check in at work and announce my arrival today!" Rocky said, remembering he had promised Isis to be the captain of the transportation squad and military vet. Although, truth be told, he didn't really want to be the captain of the transportation squad. He'd accepted the position as a means to remain in the northeastern military camp. The trade-off would pay dividends later.

After the northeast military camp moved to the frontier, the original area was remodeled into the logistics camp. A multitude of army provisions and weapons were moved from base camp to the logistics camp.

Today was his first day on the job as captain of the transportation squad.

He arranged for his beasts to stay at their positions, guarding his home, and left for the logistics camp.

When Rocky entered the logistics camp, there was an abundance of activity. Soldiers and spirit manipulators came and went, preoccupied with their business. Rocky knew none of them.

But he was not surprised by the number of people or the commotion. Since Isis re-established the logistics camp to shorten supply time during the war with Timber Deity Empire, this was to be expected. The move meant the frontiers could receive army provisions and materials rather quickly. Such things could be the difference between defeat and victory. The variety of uniforms and crests said the soldiers and spirit manipulators in the logistics camp were transferred from other military camps.

Although they were all new faces to Rocky, they still knew about him. The moment he entered the camp, he heard the whispers, and saw the glances his way, the gestures, and pointed fingers. His name preceded him from his performance in the last contest. And he'd also refused the Commander in Chief in public. That in itself drew attention with some regarding him as if trying to figure out exactly what he was about, what kind of a man he might be.

Throw in the news that Rocky had chosen to be a captain of the transportation squad instead of Frontline Commander and the confusion and assessment was more pronounced. Compared with Frontline Commander, the captain of the transportation squad was a grueling and trifling job. No one in their right mind would choose as Rocky had.

But those choices and achievements had turned Rocky into a celebrity in the Crimson Dragon Group. Everyone was talking about him all the time.

"Rocky..." two excited voices called at the same time.

Rocky turned around to see Thor and Joss. The two of them were happy to see Rocky as if they had found some treasures.

"Why are you two here?" Rocky frowned at them.

"We heard you were the new captain of the transportation squad, so we applied to be with you. Commander Marin transferred us here. We heard about your great performance in the contest. And how you were so cool that you turned down the Frontline Commander post.” Thor gave a Rocky a nod of approval, admiration twinkling in his eye.

"Really?" Rocky gave them a skeptical glance. He had a feeling something wasn't quite right. "Where is your Camp Director?”

"He is at Commander Marin's tent,” Joss responded

Rocky nodded and headed toward Commander Marin's tent.

After Rocky left, Thor whispered to Joss, "Hey, do you think Rocky suspects anything?" Joss shook his head. "I doubt it. Commander Marin certainly wouldn't tell anyone that she has us spying on him for her. Or that she was the one who transferred us here without us asking.”

Thor nodded. "I agree. But remember we have to be extra careful. If he finds out, he'll kill us. And there'd be nothing we could do to stop him or even slow him down. He's reached the eighth grade of the Earthly Stage. Killing us is like stepping on an ant."

They looked at each other before casting a terrified look in Rocky's direction.

There was no guard when Rocky reached the Commander's camp, so he entered. Several people were gathered inside the tent having a discussion.

A man, with a too smooth face and innocent eyes that spoke of inexperience, sat in the Commander's old spot. The man was young. Rocky doubted if he was even thirty.

Everyone in the camp turned to look at Rocky as he entered.

"You must be Rocky.” The young man stood and dipped his head slightly.

Rocky nodded without a word.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Louis, the new Camp Director of the logistics camp,” the man said with a smile.

"Nice to meet you, Camp Director.” Rocky matched the man’s smile with one of his own.

"This is the Deputy Camp Director, these are captains, and these are..." Louis pointed at each person and introduced Rocky.

"I see," Rocky said in return. "I came to check in for work. Unless you don't have anything for me, then I can go.” Rocky made to turn to leave.

"Hey, that's disrespectful. The Camp Director hasn't said you can go," the Deputy Camp Director yelled. "I heard you were arrogant, but this is worse than I expected.”

The others nodded in agreement. Rocky knew what they had to be thinking. They had heard about him, about his exploits, his achievements. They knew he had refused the Commander in Chief. Most likely they figured he was a man of great ambition.

"The Camp Director hasn't said I couldn't go either. So, why are you so angry?" Rocky glared at the Deputy Camp Director.

"You're just a captain. How dare you speak to a Deputy Camp Director like that?” The man scowled at Rocky. His face flushed with anger.

"Stop it this moment, for my sake," a cool voice said.

Rocky and the Deputy Camp Director turned their heads and found it was Louis.

Rocky realized Louis wasn't an ordinary man. A camp director would not be tolerant in a situation like this. He would have reprimanded Rocky. But Louis didn't show any superiority. Rocky could tell from his eyes that Louis's reaction was not because he was afraid or bothered by Rocky's attitude. 'This new Camp Director isn't someone to take lightly, ' Rocky thought.

"Captain Rocky, we are checking the transportation route from our camp to the frontier. Would you like to join us and see?" Louis pointed to a map on the table.

Rocky stepped forward to look at the map. Then he frowned, shaking his head, and said, "This roadmap isn't feasible. I'll get a better one done.”

"Captain Rocky, did you know that our Camp Director worked around the clock to complete this map after several sleepless nights?" A captain fixed Rocky with a cold stare. "How dare you say "I'll get a better one done’! Who do you think you are?” Another captain said, "I think the roadmap is perfect. It's clear and every line is the shortest route.” He eyed Rocky then offered the Camp Director a flattering smile.

Others echoed his opinion.

"Why do you think this map isn't good enough?" Louis regarded Rocky with a frown but his words were even.

"Here... And here... These places have lots of wild spirit-manipulated beasts... There are frequent landslides and falling rocks on this road. And..." Rocky traced his finger along the map and continued with his assessment.

Rocky smiled at the sight of Louis and the others in shock. They knew he wasn't making up any of it. And the way he recited everything was as if he were a dictionary.
