REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON -
Chapter 27: Burdening Secrets
Lyla's
POV
I didn't know when that came out of my mouth. He would ask more questions now. I was spilling the truth without knowing. I had never been good in keeping secrets since I was young. "What are you talking about? What do you mean your fight?"
Kyle asked.
"Kyle you don't need to know. Stop asking questions, Kyle." I said, my voice a bit sharper than intended.
"I'm sorry." I apologies after my using a harsh tone.
"It's fine. I am not offended. I don't usually get offended by whatever you say." I felt like a jerk. No matter what I said, he wasn't angry or didn't hate me.
"Kyle, forget about this whole situation. Lets just go back to training, huh?"
"You're trying to change the conversation." He said.
"You know something about this prophecy that you aren't telling me, don't you? Lyla, just say it. Is someone threatening You?" He asked.
"No. No one is threatening me."
I knew he was staring at me. My heart raced trying to find a way to change the conversation.
"It's not what you think." I muttered.
He took a step closer. "If there's something I need to know about you, especially if it has to do with my father, you have to tell me."
I couldn't let him find out, not like this, not when I had sworn secrecy to Aria.
If Kyle knew, I didn't know what would happen.
"I can't." I said. " Please Kyle, just trust me."
His expression softened and I was relieved. "I do trust you, Lyla. But I need to understand what's happening. Why is everyone so secretive when it comes to anything concerning my family. What aren't you telling me?" He asked. I shook my head as I stepped back.i knew where this was coming from. I felt bad for him knowing that he never knew how his mother died and no one was willing to tell him.
They were being secretive, like me. I knew Kyle had the right to know. And I said I trusted him, what kept me from telling him who I truly was.
I couldn't answer his questions. The consequences of doinh that could be bad.
"Please don't push me." I pleased. You need to let it go.
I could see it in his eyes. He wasn't going to let it go. Not now. Not ever. He was determined to find out the truth. It looked liked he was suspicious from the start.
"I can't let it go, Lyla. Not when it has something to do with my father." He stepped closer, his voice softening. "I need to know."
I took another step backwards, thinking of another alternative. All I could think of was to run. If I stayed any longer, I could say something. Kyle was smart, he could put it together if I have him anymore clues. I'm sorry, Kyle." I whispered. "I can't."
Before he could react, I turned and ran. The world blurred around me as i ran as fast as I could. I ran home to avoid his questions and prevent the truth from spilling out.
When I finally stopped, I was in my room trying to catch my breath. I collaspsed on my bed as I thought about the secret I was keeping from Kyle.
How could I look him in the eye again?
A knock on the door brought me back to reality.
Aria stood by the doorway. Her eyes filled with comcern.
"Lyla, are you okay?" She asked stepping inside.
"Aria, just leave me be. I'm not in the mood to talk to you."
I still remember the argument I had with Aria yesterday. i didn't want her adding to the stress I was already going through today.
She walked forward and sat on my bed. " Lyla, I am really sorry about what I said yesterday. I know I shouldn't have talked to you like that." she said.
"And I know I didn't have the right to tell you what to do. I thought about it to today and I'm sorry. I was just trying to look at for you."
She apologied.
I knew she was telling the truth. I wasn't really angry with her. If I was, I would have spilled the beans to Kyle.
I stood up from where I laid. " it's fine. I forgot about everything yesterday. " I answered.
"Thank you." She said smiling." So, what's going on? You look terrible." She said, then I looked at myself.
Was it really showing on me. "Just a lot on my mind." I answered.
She sighed. "Does it have anything to do with Kyle ?" She asked
"He knows something. He keeps on asking me why his father wants to know about the new wolf. " I explained.
"He also thinks I know something about the prophecy." I explained.
She looked at me shocked." How does he know about the prophecy?"
"Well, I needed more answers but we weren't on talking terms so he tool me to a library in midtown. And it was written in an acient book but the whole story wasn't written, so he doesn't know but he kept questioning me." I explained to Aria.
"You did the right thing." she said.
I sighed. "But for how long? How long till he figures it out on his own.
She placed her hand on my shoulder. "We will figure it out when the time comes."
She was surprisingly calm in this whole situation.
I didn't want Kyle to get involved but I couldn't help but feel that keeping him in the dark was bringing more harm than good.
How much longer could I keep it? How much longer before the secret tore us apart?
The next few days were hard. I didn't go to the bayou but I had the feeling someone's eyes were on me, constantly watching. I could feel his eyes, always watching and always questioning. He couldn't see him but I felt his presence. As a wolf, I knew when other wolves were around me. I knew it was Kyle and no other wolf.
I had gotten used to him already.
A week went by and I didn't go for training. This whole thing was pointless if I didn't train at least.
Ryker was strong. I watched him fight away his enemies. The one reason which made him Alpha.
Staying indoors forever wasn't going to help. I thought to myself one night. I trusted Kyle, so he needed to know.
I knew he hated his father so there was no way he would tell his ffather about
