Chapter 92: Trials of Lyra

"What is going on?" I asked as I suddenly felt feverish.

"Oh dear," the old woman that nurse me said as she cleaned my body with a cold towel.

The past few days passed by in a blur and suddenly I started feeling hot and now very feverish.

"I will call the doctor now," Alpha Axel said as he walked out.

"There is really no need for a doctor dear. It is a normal thing that happens to female wolves. If they just got mated and they are far away from their mate for more than two weeks, they will go into heat" the old woman said to Axel. "What cam we do to stop it?" Axel asked.

"We can't do anything. She needs to have sex with her mate or any available male. The other alternative is for her to lay in a pool of cold water," the old woman said.

"Okay, we will do the latter then," Axel said as he carried me to his bathtub and put me in there.

"Ah!" I screamed as the pain got intense and I felt another wave of heat in my abdomen.

"Lyra don't close your eyes. It could lead to lucid dreaming," Axel warned as he tried to get me to open my eyes.

"I am trying to keep my eyes open but it is hard I am exhausted," I whispered as my eye lids became heavier.

I was moving in between consciousness and unconsciousness.

"Please open your eyes Lyra," Acel said as the doctor's came in.

"Alpha, she is on heat there is really nothing we can do," the doctor echoed what the old maid had said.

"You need to keep her soaked to maintain her temperature so she doesn't get over heated. If she sleeps, she could start having lucid dreams and worse enter coma and if her condition gets worse she could die," the doctor said to Axel. "Okay," Axel nodded as he switched out the water in the tub to ice cold water which made me jolt but made me feel better.

After a few minutes, I became unconscious again and I heard Axel trying to wake me but I was tired and all I wanted to do was sleep.

"Axel you are too loud, I only want to rest my head," I drawled in a sleepy voice.

"No, Lyra you are not listening. You cannot sleep. You have to stay awake," Axel said in a panicked voice but I was already half way away to dream land.

I found myself in the library in Merida's house again and this time, it wasn't colorful. It looked dead, with dead trees and plants. The grass looked brown and the spirits appeared before m and handed me a book.

"Lyra, this is your last book. She is called experience," The spirit said to me.

"Okay," I said as I collected the book and opened it. Suddenly I was sucked in.

I found a young girl with brunette hair and blue eyes, she looked familiar and I looked at my surroundings and I realized I was in free town but at this time it was called Brighton pack and I realized that the young girl was my mother. She was crying all my herself and a young man walked towards her to comfort her.

I recognized this man, it was Ryker.

"I don't understand why my father wouldn't allow us to stay together! We are mates. It is so hard to find your mate in our world and now that I have found mine, he wants me to throw it away because of some alliance that will benefit the pack." She cried in Ryker's arms.

"It's okay, don't cry. Everything will be fine we will find a way," Ryker tried to console her but it wasn't working.

"We should elope," she looked up at him.

"What?" He asked shocked at her suggestion.

"Yes, we should elope. They can't stop us if they can't find us," she said to him.

"No, that isn't the right thing to do. We would really be happy growing a family without our relatives. I think we should talk to them. We will definitely find a way to convince them to let us stay together," Ryker said to my mother. "No, we won't. can't you see that the only thing they care about is their pack. They get to make any decision and put it upon the fact that they are doing it for the good of the pack. I cannot continue like this," she held on to Ryker's face. "Okay then, we will find a way to talk to them and if they don't listen, we will do it your way. Is that fine with you?" Ryker asked her and she nodded.

"Alright then, now stop crying. You are very beautiful and I don't want you being sad and sulking," Ryker said to her and she smiled.

I was shocked I had never seen this part of my mother with Zeus. With Zeus she was more reserved and was so invested in him. With Ryker it showed in her eyes that she was in love.

The next scene was where she was with Ryker and they hugged each other. "We need to leave tomorrow. We already tired talking to them and you can see that they are not going to listen and they don't care about us or our baby," she said to Ryker.

"Yes, I can't believe they want be to give up my baby for their precious alliance. They want me to give p the love of my life and my child for the "good of their pack"," Ryker said angrily.

The next morning when my mother and Ryker planned they were going to elope, my mother woke up to her parents standing over her as they chained her to the bed as she screamed and cried.

"Did you think we didn't know about your little plan with Ryker?" her father mocked.
