I sensed my mate walking into the house. I missed her so much. Even if she had been gone such a short time. I hadn’t said it to her but I was kind of disappointed we hadn’t received a mind link. I thought it would be a long shot, her a witch and a shifter and me a wolf. But I had kind of hoped.I expected her to come into the room. We were sitting in the dining room , around the table. Enzo had just offered the land to the panthers , and offered to help them build and help them grow their financial portfolio the way this pack has. To say Usif was grateful would be an understatement. He was beyond shocked by the generosity Enzo was showing. He couldn’t stop thanking us.

I knew Enzo felt guilty too , the only reason why they had lost so much was because of our war with Yianna, and they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Picked for nothing but muscle. When Violet didn’t come into the room after five minutes, I excused myself from the meeting and went in search of her. I found her sitting in the living room , a couch cushion hugged to her chest. She looked lost in thought and troubled. ” Violet ” I said her name softly , and she didn’t react. I furrowed my brow. What had happened ? When she left she was happy , well as happy as she could be considering her brother had passed. But she seemed thrilled about our mating finally getting on the right track.

Slowly walking forward, I reached out and put my hand on her shoulder. She jumped at the contact and looked through me, not at me. ” Violet, are you OK ? ” I asked her. It seemed to take a second for it to register that I was talking to her. And when she finally saw me she looked confused, she shook her head and looked down. ” Sorry I , I was lost in thought ” she said. Taking a seat at the side of her , I grabbed her hand and brought it to my lips, kissing it. ” You were pretty lost , was it anywhere nice ? “I smiled at her.

Her eyes searched my face , her mouth opened like she was going to say something and then she shut her mouth and looked away and smiled. ” No, not really. I think I am just tired , using that amount of magic earlier has wiped me out. Did you get everything sorted ? ” she asked me. Something didn’t sit well. She didn’t just seem tired , she looked troubled. But I shrugged it off , a lot had happened. It was bound to take a minute for us all to catch up.

” Yea, I think we could all just hibernate for a week ” I smiled at her , hoping I could see her smile back. But she just nodded mindlessly. “In fact, Enzo plans to do that with Anthea. They started off by hiding out in the cave near the lake so no one could see them. The day after tomorrow, when things are more settled with his dad and her mum and the pack, and all the funerals have happened . He plans to surprise her by camping out there for a few days. Maybe we could go do something like that. A few days away from everyone just getting to no one another “she looked at me. This time with real interest.

” Like away from the pack somewhere ? ” she asked me. Something definitely wasn’t right. ” Well, not too far , at least not for a few months until things are all settled. We could go on a real holiday then. I was thinking of camping up the mountain or something , close enough to get back if we are really needed. ” She looked disappointed , and I had a thought that shook me. Did she not want to stay here ? I thought she liked the girls and got on well with everyone. I hadn’t thought that it was a possibility she wouldn’t want to stay here , well live here and settle down.

” Violet , do you like it here ?” I asked her. She looked up at me from where she had looked back down. ” Yes, I love it here. Why are you asking me that ? ” I shook my head and let out a small laugh of relief. ” No reason , I just realised you could not want to actually live here, I thought that was what this was , you wanted to get out of here “. When she didn’t answer me, her face looked all guilty all of a sudden. My heart nearly dropped out. She opened her mouth. ” Devon, it isn’t that I don’t want to be here , it is . . . ” Loud screaming outside of the house stopped her talking.

” LEAVE ME ALONE “Tiffany’s voice screeched. Enzo was running out of the door , so we both got up and followed them onto the porch. ” I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU ALONE YOU SPOILED BRAT , WE ARE MATES ” Rhiala shouted at her, following after her. By now they were gaining an audience , some of them who were Rhiala’s brothers , who watched on smirking at the situation. Tiffany whirled around, pointing her finger at Rhiala. ” NO WE ARE NOT ” she shouted back at her. Rhiala crossed her arms over her chest and stared down at Tiffany. ” Yes we are and you know we are. Why are you being so stubborn about this I do not know “” she said back to her calmly.

Tiffany looked around, finally realising they were being watched now. ” Because I am not, ” she huffed. ” I am not into girls ” she said eventually. Rhialla rolled her eyes. ” Liar , you just had your tongue down my throat. And dragons sense lies. So tell me again, why are you fighting this ? ” Rhiala asked. Tiffany, near on, screeched that high pitched, only dogs would hear it. ” BECAUSE , BECAUSE ” she fell short of the reason why. And it looked like Rhiala was getting bored of her s**t.

Rhialla unfolded her arms and put them on her h**s. ” Fine , I will tell you what, because I am not into dramas Tiffany. You tell me now you don’t find me attractive and then you reject our mating. Because I am not chasing your tail around, bowing to your every need like you are a princess. Or you tell me why you are scared to mate me and we work it out like adults Tiffany , not teenage dramatics. So reject me or tell me what holds you back “. She gave her the ultimatum. Tiffany looked like she had just slapped her across the face. But then the girl had the audacity to look at Enzo. I don’t even think she subconsciously meant to do it, but she did .

” Are you f*****g serious ” Rhiala seethed. ” He is happily f*****g dated , his mate is pregnant. You just had your a*s thrown in a cell because of this. Is it actually him or the position you wanted ? ” Rhiala asked her through gritted teeth. Tiffany looked back at her , her eyes wide. She started to resemble a fish , her moth was opening and closing that much. Rhiala nodded ” Right , f*****g right. Are you going to reject me ? ” she asked her and Tiffany shook her head no. Rhiala didn’t say a word , she turned and stormed off.

Tiffany watched her walking off in confusion. ” WAIT WHERE ARE YOU GOING ? ” Tiffany shouted at her retreating back. ” DON’T FOLLOW ME AND STAY f*****g THERE ” Rhiala shouted back. “WHAT , YOU CAN’T JUST WALK AWAY AND DEMAND ME TO SAY HERE. DON’T WALK WAY FROM ME RHIALA , RHIALA. RHIALA WHERE ARE YOU GOING ? ” Tiffany stomped like a child.

” WAIT f*****g THERE ” Rhiala shouted before she disappeared around the house and out of sight. Everyone was looking at Tiffany now, who crossed her arms over her chest and scowled. But she didn’t storm off or move. She stayed where put. What she did do was throw out dirty looks to Rhiala’s brothers, who started whispering and laughing among themselves. ” What is so funny ? ” she snapped at them eventually. Raan looked back at her unimpressed and shrugged. ” Well , you’ve pissed her off. You’ll learn not to do that. Our sister is more of a neanderthal than what we are ” he laughed.

” What does that mean ? ” she asked him, sounding a little unsure now. ” She is a jealous little thing , makes her go all caveman yano ” Ryken answered. Tiffany looked around at us , and I can’t lie. I had a big a*s grin on my face. Whatever was about to happen , she definitely deserved it. A loud whoosh sounded through the air , and my grin got bigger knowing that sound. ” What was that ? ” Tiffany asked. I looked at Enzo and he was leaning up against the beam with a s**t eating grin on his face too. It sounded again and I looked up , ready to see the magical sight. ” What’s happening ? ” Tiffany asked.

Then the large beast flew into sight, from behind the trees. Tiffany screeched and stumbled back at the sight. ” That would be your pissed off mate , that is what is happening ” Ryken told her. Looking up at his sister. ” What? because I made her mad? She is going to burn me alive. ” she said, looking up horrified. Tilly- ann the other female dragon, laughed. I noticed she was holding hands with someone I hadn’t seen before. ” You really are a drama queen , no she won’t burn you. I just hope you like flying ” she added in her voice full of humour.

Rhiala had been circling around ” Hre comes little sister “. Raan laughed as we watched the dragon go straight. It’s direction straight at us. Tiffany thought it best to turn and take off running. But for the big beast, the gap was closed in just a few seconds. The dragon seemed to pull up so its big clawed feet went down first. And much to everyone’s amusement, she scooped Tiffany up in her claw and took back off up into the sky. Tiffany was screaming and punching at the claw , but the big beast paid mind. Her screams carried through the air , until they both disappeared into the cloud banks. Out of everyone’s sight. Her brothers were in stitches at their little sister’s behaviour. ” Do we need to worry she will drop her out of the sky ? ” Enzo asked them.

Ryken shook his head ” No , she will be taking her to her hoard. I am guessing they will be back in a few weeks or something. While we are here we would like to introduce you to the three dragons Yianna had compelled. They have been kept captive at the council. And one is the mate of Tilly – Anne ” Ryken said to Enzo. Enzodesended the steps to meet the new dragons . Meanwhile, my attention went back to my own mate who was still looking up at the sky , looking amused. ” Hey , are you OK ? ” I asked her , the drama had stopped her saying something. She looked at me and nodded ” Ermm yea sorry , I am just tired. That is all. ” She still didn’t sound convincing, but I couldn’t force her to talk.
