I felt the minute my mate had been removed from being anywhere near us , but the look that crossed Enzo’s face would have told me all I needed to know anyway. His eyes slid towards mine and he gave the smallest of nods. Now it was our turn, because if anyone was still watching, to play the possessive and hysterical mate in a fit of rage that my mate had gone. Enzo wrapped up his conversation with one of the panthers regarding security and then turned to us. ” Let’s go back to our mates and see if they want feeding “, me and Penny in our mates’ forms both nodded. Following behind him. When we reached the building, the guard we had left there was groggily sitting up holding his head.

Seeing it, we rushed over. ” What happened ? “Enzo demanded. The guard squinted up at us. ” I think it was one of the girls , they put me to sleep or something. Then his eyes widened. ” They were talking about something and didn’t want me to hear it “, jumping to my feet from the squat position we had all done to check on the panther. I ran into the building. To find Antheas with her face in her hands. “Anthea ” I said in a fake rush of panic. She looked up at me guilty. Enzo came rushing in and went to his mate’s side. His head looking around. ” Anthea, where are Violet and Penny ? ” I asked her. And she started to sob in her mate’s arms.

” I am . . . . So sorry , they , they , they left. They went to confront the dark witches to try and solve all of this. I tried to stop her but she was adamant. She said it was the only way to win this , not through violence but going and speaking to them ” her voice pleaded with us to understand. ” Who was adamant ? Where is Penny did she go too ? “Came out of Ryken’s mouth. ” Both went , they said to say they loved you and they were sorry. That they will be back. They are going to negotiate me waking their son up to get our pack back. “

She explained.

I looked at Rykens shell and saw Penny playing the perfect part. She had clenched Ryken’s hands and fire danced behind his eyes. Looking back at Anthea, I shook my head. ” Why would they go without us ? Unprotected ? ” I snapped in anguish. Enzo stood up , protectively in front of his mate. ” Don’t take this s**t out on her , it seems your mates were pretty adamant. Let’s concentrate on making sure they come back ” he growled.

” How did Violet think it would be amicable once we woke their son up ? That man is obsessed with her. ” I growled back, possessively. ” Let us not jump at anything until we know what has happened , let us go looking for them. Anthea, where did they go ? They could be on their way back after talking to them. Or still talking to them ” Enzo was going for the logical , like an alpha would. Trying to keep his pack mates calm. ” They went that way towards the woods ” she pointed in one direction, standing up, gaining back her composure.

I was out the door before they had time to say anything else. That would be what Devon would do, right ? I pictured Devon’s Wolf in my mind and shifted while I ran into it. I had always liked shifting into a wolf. The one I picked for myself was a golden sandy furred wolf. I could look the part , but I lacked what an actual wolf shifter had. I didn’t have as much strength or speed, or the senses. I just looked the part mainly. Don’t get me wrong, Rion practiced fighting with me like a wolf. His wolf had been strong. But he was a strong person. I was not surprised. I ran aimlessly in one direction. Just concentrating on my connection to Devon to lead me to where he had been. And I followed the magic trail and skidded to a stop where it ended. To anyone else , it would look like I was scenting and Devon had scented this spot. The others, once they got to me, all stopped too , they had all stayed in their human forms.

” They were here ” Enzo said , swinging around to look. I felt the familiar tingle of dark magic run through me and span in the direction it was coming from. Two women and two men in black robes appeared in front of us looking smug. Everyone went on high alert at their arrival. I growled menacingly at them and they all looked down at me in disgust for it.

” Where are they ? ” Ryken snapped at them. ” The spell on the pack has been lifted. Now it is time to keep up your end of the bargain Violet struck . You wake up Wallace “, one of the males said. ” How do we know it has been lifted and I asked you where are they ? ” Ryken snapped again. The male curled his l*p up at him. ” Go find out for yourselves if the spell is lifted , then we except the spell on Wallace being lifted. Then you will get them back. ” Even I could see the lie we all already knew he was telling. But to keep the rouse we all stayed deathly silent.

” Don’t back down on the bargain struck , it will only mean consequences for you. The spell could be placed back just like that ” he said, clicking his fingers and then started smirking again. Then they all disappeared one by one , the smirking bastard the last one to go. ” Let’s get back to the pack and into the cells “, Enzo said . And like bats out of hell we took off, easily crossing the border onto the pack. We all slowed down. In actual fact, we should have tested the theory before we all just stormed in here believing them. The first ones we came across were two wolves doing their rounds. Enzo stopped us all and placed Anthea behind him. Even though she was a very skilled fighter , she was also carrying their pups, so she went easily , unlike she normally would. The wolf slowed down and stood looking at us. It was like I could hear everyone’s breath waiting to see what they would do. One breath in .. two breathe out.

Then one wolf shifted back and smiled ” Alpha, it is good to see you and I don’t want to kill you. Does that mean the spell is gone ? ” Enzo exhaled loudly. ” Yes Ryan, it seems it has. Please go tell my father to meet us in the cells , as well as the warlock women , Willow and Shira. Anthea’s brothers and the Panther pride leader ” he nodded. ” On it Alpha ” he said , changing back and taking off.

” Straight to the cells , we are safe to speak down there ” Enzo told us. We all took back off , easily making it through the pack, not one person coming to attack us. When we got down there, it wasn’t long before everyone started piling in. All eager to know what we were going to do next. Enzo kicked it off. ” We don’t have a lot of time. They would expect Anthea to lift the sleeping spell soon. Devon has already linked me to say they don’t plan on Violet and Penny coming back. Just so we are all up to date. It is Devon and Ryken inside of the girls’ bodies they have taken , the girls are actually there ” he pointed at me and Penny.

” We need to stop them being able to put the spell back on the pack , then we will go after them ” he said , not even a wolf. I could feel the Alpha aura waving off of him. ” We already have a spell to do that , we were preparing it while we waited for the girls to be back to help with it “, Dataneye said. Which made me sigh in relief. Enzo discussed everything else we had learned and why they planned to keep Violet. ” Even though she is mated “, Samuel interjected and Enzo nodded at him.

” Well, it will be a miracle to get her pregnant ” Dataneye snickered. I looked across at her confused. ” What do you mean by that ? “I asked, worried she was about to tell me I couldn’t have babies or something. I mean if she had known this before, then she should have damn well told me. She looked at me and I saw the ‘oh s**t ‘ cross her face that she had accidently dropped something. Maybe she shouldn’t have.

” Well ermm , Mary here. She has a gift , she can sense someone who is already carrying “, she winced. I still wasn’t getting it. What did she mean by that? Dataneye sighed and looked down. ” She sensed it three days ago , Violet, you are already pregnant. ” I whipped my head back in shock. ” No , I can’t be. I have been taking precautions. We agreed not to have any babies for a while. I have been taking protective measures. She is wrong. ” I stuttered out.

” Violet, what precautions have you been taking ? “the previous luna asked. I looked around and everyone was looking at me. It made me feel a little uncomfortable. ” I started taking contraceptive pills as soon as I got my own body back ” she started to smile a little sheepishly. ” Were these human contraceptive pills ? “she asked and I nodded again. ” Yes , I magicked them up as soon as I got my body back from Yianna. From a human chemist ” they all started laughing and snickering except Ryken , well Penny, who looked just as confused as I felt at everyone’s obvious amusement. The previous Luna came forth and grabbed my hands. ” Violet hunny, a regular human contraceptive, doesn’t work against shifters well. You know baby making juice. If you wished to not become pregnant so soon , you should have gone to see the pack doctor “. She says smiling gently at me. I looked around the room and everyone was looking at me , a mixed bag of emotions. Of happy for me and some trying not to show emotion because this was obviously something that I hadn’t wanted yet. ” Please don’t tell Devon yet ” I looked at Enzo who had the link with him. ” Not while there is all of this danger ” i add.

“Wouldn’t telling everyone make this all go away ,that you are already pregnant ? ” he asked. The horror I felt washed over me at that statement had me shaking my head violently. ” Are you kidding, they would just get rid of it somehow, expel it , these are dark witches we are dealing with , evil , you think they wouldn’t ? We don’t breathe a word. It stays down here ” I looked at Anthea , she was so happy to be pregnant, but the idea just scared the s**t out of me.
