Chapter 155: Epilogue

” Luna, where would you like these ? “I turned to see a male wolf standing holding two large bowls in his hands. “They’re over on the food table, thank you. ” He smiled at me and scurried off. Tomorrow is the kids’ eighteenth birthdays. Tonight we planned a family meal , just us and them. We needed to come clean about a secret we had kept their whole lives. At midnight tonight , they will get their wolves and their magic back. They would also realise what pack members had speculated and teased them about their whole lives. That they were in fact mates.

We thought telling them that part would be the easy part. The kids were left with most of their bond. But for two of our lovely children , I fear the news will come to them like a nightmare. Leo and Lena had been forever inseparable , to the point I had to kick him out of her room most nights still. They wished to be mates , hoped for it and had even gone as far as saying if they weren’t they would reject their fated mates for each other. But Kian and Kila , well, their bond had gone a little bit sideways. The fact they were both so head strong meant they butted heads a lot , which caused them to argue and the fact they both had tongues like vicious snakes. Sometimes, when they let their anger get the better of them , well, some hurtful things sometimes get said. And neither would cave to make it right , which left Leo and Lena playing the peacemakers in the middle.

My precious pig-headed son took it a step further though when he got with a girl from the pack two months ago. We had all witnessed the pain on Kila’s face before she managed to brush it off and pretend like she wasn’t bothered. She then went and raised his ante and got herself a boyfriend too. We tried to talk to them , to get them to make up with one another. But , there was only so much we could say without making them suspicious that something was up. So , we all just had everything crossed when the time came and the mate bond snapped into place. Everything would just work itself out.

” Everything OK here ? “Violet asked, coming up to the side of me. ” Yea , everything is OK. Have you seen the kids around this morning ? ” I asked her and she winced. Making me dread what she was about to say. ” Yea , me and Enzo had to step in and stop another confused love drama again this morning with Kian and Lena. Lena went to punch Kian again , because he wound her up. It ended with her calling him. What was it now? Ah yea , a stupid , brain-dead jock who thinks he’s a goddess’s gift to women and for him to go sleep with his slut of a ladder-climbing girlfriend again. So she can brag around the pack how she is sleeping with the next alpha of the pack again ” sighing, I pinched the bridge of my nose. ” I swear watching them too gives me random flashes back of me and Enzo at times. Except they’re worse, a hell of a lot worse. She doesn’t hide out of the way for an easy life ” I smiled sadly at her.

” Don’t worry , nothing beats the mate bond. We are living proof of that ” she replied. ” I know , but all of this time. We thought this would be easy , that they would be happy about it all and understand why we did what we did. I just hope they listen to their wolves too. Their wolves will be on our side. ” She nodded , but as I was just about finished talking. We heard the raised voices of our mates.

It sounded like they were coming from around the back of the pack house where the party would be held.

” What now ? ” Violet huffed , turning and heading in that direction. I followed after her and when we got there, our mates as well as some of our friends were standing around in a circle. Shira turned and saw us and winced. Pushing through, we found our mates each holding back one of the gruesome twosome and in the middle of them on the ground was Kila’s boyfriend holding his nose. ” Just what happened here ? ” I snapped, looking at them both. My eyes narrowed and anger poured out of me , which made the alpha aura ooze from my pours. ” s**t , mum stop it ” Kian winced , as they got older, the kids started feeling the aura. But it had never affected them much , that fact it was now could only be down to them getting their wolves soon. The boys didn’t end up getting them early like we had planned , we came to the conclusion that the spell just took hold on them all.

Which caused murmurs around the pack that for alpha born pups they were late to get them. ” Tell me what happened and I will ” Isnapped at my pigheaded son that I loved with everything I had. He gritted his teeth and said nothing. I looked at Kali but she looked too pissed off to say anything , but luckily for me, his sister was there and had no problem telling on her brother. ” Kian saw Kali kissing Tommy and went in a jealous fit and hit him in the nose ” she smiled in amusement watching as her dad held Enzo back in near on a choke hold.

” I was not jealous ” Kian snapped , ” Yea , if you weren’t, what was that s**t man ? ” Leo asked as he slung his arm around Lena’s shoulders. ” Don’t you start , best friend or not, I will hit you in the nose too if you keep trying to push you twos sickly lovey dove crap onto us. I hit him because he’s an a*****e. Period “, Kian shouted at Leo. Lena stepped in her brother’s face. ” Hit Leo and I’ll hit you ” she warned him. Lena was calm , until you rubbed her the wrong way. We heard someone growling. We looked and realised it was Kila growling towards Lena’s threat. When she noticed us all looking at her , some with eyebrows raised, she abruptly stopped . ” What I want her to hit him ” she said , all of us sensing the lie. ” Bullshit ” Lena muttered towards her.

” Right enough ” Violet snapped , she placed her hand on her h**s. ” Tomorrow is your birthday , tonight you get your wolves. This behavior is not the behavior of future leaders of this pack. Now , if you do not all shut up , I will get Ryken and Raan to pick your asses up and fly you all off to a remote island and let you fight it out there and give us all a break from this constant bickering ” she huffed.

” Excellent idea Violet, you four have been warned. No more antics , no more messing around . Got it ? ” I asked, looking at them all. ” But mum, this is nothing to do with us ” Lena started, but Enzo cut her off. Letting go of Kian. ” Enough you’ve all heard your mothers ” he chipped in, backing us up. ” And if you two want to start using violence again , we will make sure the island is one with not a lot of comforts on it ” Deon piped up , also on board. Over the years, the four of us have mastered a co-parenting method between the four of us. The main thing we stand united. And we discussed anything we disagreed with in private, away from the four sets of ears, so they didn’t see weakness between our united front. Seems a bit extreme , but against these four we needed to be.

” Here they go again , all banding together “, Leo muttered, and Devon cut him a look that had Leo quickly shutting up. ” Two days of peace , that is all we ask of you. So we can give you all a good birthday “, Violet said to them and one by one they agreed. Very sulkily I might add. ” Good , now Tommy, get up and go get washed off. To stop anymore attempts happening, I ask you to please keep your distance until the party tomorrow if you would please. ” It is not that I didn’t like Tommy , he was a good kid. But all I was trying to do was stop the kid getting hurt , in more ways than just physical, when the mate bond snaps into place.

The rest of the day, while we set up, the kids behaved. And I grew more nervous. As we were getting ready for dinner , Enzo came up behind me and kissed my cheek. ” It will all work out baby , once it’s all out there. Them two will get their heads out of their asses. I got mine out of mine eventually , and look at us now . Happily mated and still acting like we have only just mated “, he breathed into my ear , making my eyes close and a pool of heat settle deep in my stomach in his husky voice. ” Stop it, dinner starts soon ” I told him. But he starts trailing k****s down my neck and I’m a goner.

Half an hour later, we stumbled into the dining room , to a very uncomfortable silence of just the four kids sitting there. ” Where are Devon and Violet ? “I asked. ” Late doing the same thing that made you late “, Kian said grumpily. ” Where here ” Devon walked in with a satisfied grin on his face. Violet had flushed cheeks as she walked in behind him. As we all sat down , the silence became thick in the air. The house help brought all of the food in and then, as instructed, left for the night. We didn’t want anyone over hearing our conversation.

It was heartbreaking to sit in this awkwardness. Usually we were all so close, laughing and joking. Even with what the two could be like , but this had been hitting boiling point the last few months and this was the result. It was causing a divide in our close little family dynamic. ” Kids, we need to tell you something , and what we are about to tell you affects your whole lives. We need you to hear us out and be adults and understanding. Then we will answer any questions you have. I ask you all to stay calm ” his eyes shot at Kian and Kila , both of them confused as to why Enzo would point them out.

Enzo then looked at me and Violet. We had agreed we would be the ones to try to gently break the news. Violet grabbed my hand under the table. Specifically, we had placed ourselves together. Even after all of these years, her touch helped calm me a little still, like when we were carrying the babies. We took turns explaining everything , from start to finish. We discussed this and practised what we would say. We recalled every detail we could to make sure nothing was left out. And by the time we were done. The kids stared at us open-mouthed. Leo was the first to jump up, swooping up Lena and kissed her on the lips. ” I knew it ” he said happily. He disregarded everything else about him, having powers what mattered to him was Lena. I smiled at the sight of them hugging.

But my eyes then went to Kian and Kila who were both staring at each other across the table, the tension built as we all waited. Kila slowly stood up after a while , and without a word walked out of the room. I looked at Kian to see his eyes narrowed at where she had just departed. ” Kian ” I started , but he looked at me with a hard stare that looked just like his father. ” Don’t mum ” as he went to stand up, a loud scream echoed from outside. Kian was the first out of the door. The rest of us following , Kila was under the full moon writhing in pain. ” It isn’t midnight yet ” I said, panicked. “It’s the goddess ” Violet said. ” You can feel her. She’s started it now ” . One by one, each kid went down and all we could do was comfort them on their first shift. I remember mine and how horrific it was. It took over an hour before each child to finally form into their wolves and laid panting before us in their new forms. The boys were all black, and the girls were the same sandy blonde color. Then, like the day we took their magic , leaves started floating around us until they blew above our heads in a circle. ” Everything is back ” Violet said in awe.

We all shifted into our wolves , Violet in the one she chose to be her wolf whenever she shape shifted. Enzo threw his head back and howled at the moon. The rest of us followed. Sianna was over joyed that it was finally over. Through our howls, we let the pack know the twin sets had finally come into their animal counterparts , before we all ran together. And Kian finally got his head out of his a*s , when at the party the following night. He marched up to Kila who was on the dance floor and had still been ignoring him even after what we had told her. He grabbed her by the throat gently and pulled her in, slamming his lips down onto hers in a ravaging k**s a parent should not witness. Kila didn’t push him away , but she also didn’t submit , infront of the whole pack. She grabbed his hair , pulled his head back and publically sank her teeth into his neck, sealing the mating bond. After that, the kids disappeared and I did not want to know the details , but the pack imploded with celebrations.

It was exactly two weeks after that , when the first attack on them happened. Like we were warned, other shifters would try to hunt them. But with the power the kids had and the power they had backing them up , they didn’t stand a chance. They didn’t take over the pack for a long while , it was clear their abilities were needed elsewhere. And like the moon goddess said, a great war came. One that threatened the lives of all. It went badly for a while , lives were lost. But they rose to the greatness they were always going to be and they won time after time. The bond of the four babies we raised was back , and each one complemented the other in the perfect way. It wasn’t always war and grime for them though , once word got out of their victories. Fewer threats came. Me , Enzo , Violet and Devon all got to retire to the house Enzo’s parents had retired to before they peacefully passed just a few years before. The kids and their new circle came to light with all the kids born from our circle. The torch officially passed. We lived like we were kids again , we traveled, we had fun, but we always came home to our family when they needed us, especially when our grandbabies were born. Who would have thought it two more sets of twins, the moon goddess readying up the next generation?
