” You got everything sis ?” Peter asks, sticking his head around my door. ” Yea , well , I think so. It’s hard to pack. I’ve never packed before. I’ve never left here, so I am not sure what I need to actually take. ” I looked down at the bag that I had just been putting random items of clothing in. I didn’t have many here to begin with. Peter had been fetching me some things from home. Well, was it home anymore ? From Mum and dad’s house ? That was a topic to stress about on another day. I am too stressed about my main concern right now. If me pursuing this was leading people to their deaths or my own death ? Morbid I know. But it was a thought I couldn’t get out of my mind. ” Do you need me to get you anything else from back home ?” he asked behind me.

Shaking my head no , I zipped the bag up. ” Nope , I’ll just have to do. What’s happening downstairs ?” I had heard some raised voices earlier and decided to stay up here out of the way of it. He comes in and closes the door behind him. ” Your two lovers are going at it over the plan today ” he shrugs. But his words make me cringe. ” s**t, don’t say that ” I whine and he actually laughs at me. ” You have any idea what you going to do ? “he asks me.

” Nope , I want Enzo. I had accepted I wouldn’t be his mate though. If there had been an opportunity before Rion had shown up, I would have jumped on it. Now I feel I need to find out about Sianna. About him , selfishly, I think she and him have been mates. Had there chance , should I give my mate up ? The one the fates chose for me ? In order to be with someone like us who understands us , well, that’s if we get our magic back. I think I need to become who I am meant to be before I then choose. I could pick Enzo now , but magic may change everything. Who knows? “

He lets out a whistle ” I would hate to be in your position, sis. I mean, why can’t you have both ? ” I looked at him, my eyes wide. ” Two mates, hell no , anyway my wolf told me we can’t. We have to pick. Since then, though, she’s been silent. She hasn’t had much to say about the whole situation. Just let me get on with it by the looks of it “, I huffed. Maybe if she had more input then I wouldn’t feel so damn useless and floudering. I had no idea what we were doing and when. In all honesty, if it wasn’t for Rion having this idea, I would have no clue what to do, or how to go about getting our magic.

The door opens and Abigail sticks her head around the door. ” We are all ready , Rion says we need to set off in no longer than ten minutes. ” She looks at my brother and her cheeks go red with a silly smile on her face. ” Dad also wants a word with you before we go ” she tells him. I looked at Peter and he looked at her like she was hanging the stars. ” Yea, were coming ” he answers her , she nods her head and goes back out closing the door. ” How you feeling with having to wait ? Surely having your mate right there and having to wait isn’t easy either. “

” Na , I don’t mind it. I don’t feel that kind of way towards her yet , the ermm s****l way. It’s weird. She’s beautiful , gorgeous. I can never stop thinking of her , but there’s like a blocker in my brain for anything of that nature. I don’t have the urge to bite and mate like all other mates say they get. With me, my urge is to protect her , and make her happy. I spoke to one of the guys about this. It happened to him and his mate, the age gap thing. He said it was the same for him until she turned eighteen, then, like a switch over night, the mate bond switched gears. They have the strongest bond I’ve ever seen ” he goes to the door and opens it. ” If you’ll excuse me , I think I’m about to get a warning from my future father-in-law ” he winks and leaves the room.

Standing up, I picked the bag back up , I spotted something hanging off of the bed post. Reaching over, I picked it up and noticed it was Enzo’s tshirt from last night. We had finished what we had started at the pack house when we got back last night. Brining it to my nose, I inhale and feel my eyes flash yellow , just his scent sets me off. Biting my l*p, I opened my back and threw it inside.

Zipping it back up , I slung it over my shoulder and left my temporary room. Heading downstairs, Enzo was sitting at the breakfast counter with a cup in front of him. He glanced up when he sensed me coming and a sexy smile spread across his face. ” You ready to go ? Douche bag is outside waiting for everyone.” Laughing, I reached across for his cup and took a drink and nearly spat it back out everywhere. ” What is that ? “I asked, cringing. Standing up and sliding his bag off of the counter, he puts it over his arm. ” Black coffee , four sugars. ” I was about to tell him he’s gross when Rion walked in a take out cup in his hand. He walked over to me and handed it me. ” Here coffee , milk , one sugar with a few drops of vanilla put in “. He smiles while he hands me the cup of coffee exactly how I have it. ” Thanks ” I say awkwardly , how did he know that was how I have it.

” I watched you the other morning make it , and if you were drinking tea it would be honey instead of sugar, just a splash of milk. And then you prefer cranberry juice over orange juice. Your morning snack is a strawberry and banana smoothie. I’m observant . Now here , I made you overnight oats how you like them for the road , I saw you didn’t prep them last night so I did ” he goes in the fridge and hands me the container I usual out it in too. ” Now lets go ” he walks off back out the kitchen a huge smile on his face. He walks past Enzo, who was shaking his head in disbelief.

He picks up his cup and drains the rest of his. ” This is going to be interesting ” he says, following Rion out. When I went out, all the people traveling with us were there. As well as the alpha and the luna. ” We are going out of here by car travel about two hours and then we meet the council witch , after that me and Violet will keep you all safe while we get you to the Island. once we reach the island our witch will wake you all up. You’ll be out for around five hours, ” Rion announced. No one looked happy about the situation. But we all mumbled our agreement.

” Anthea a moment please ” the alpha said , as we were all about to go. Looking at Enzo, he was looking at us confused as well. It was obvious he didn’t know what this was about either. Walking over to the alpha, he looked uncomfortable. He rubbed the back of his neck. ” Your parents came to me this morning. Your mum was very, let’s say, unconvinced about what we said , about who you are meant to be. But your dad , he wanted to talk to you “. He looked to his left and I followed his line of sight. My dad was standing at the side of the house. Looking very uncomfortable. My heart went into my throat , I don’t think I could take any more emotional battering if that was what he had come for.

” Your dad told your mum to leave when I tried to explain what we had learned so far and she wasn’t taking it seriously.” I found my feet moving towards my father, and I had never been so nervous. This felt like something huge. He kept looking behind me , and I knew, without looking, we had an audience. ” Dad ? “I asked, nervous. He was quiet for a minute , looking down and looking uncomfortable. ” I , I need to tell you how sorry I am. I was never there as a father for you. And I need you to know that I have always loved you in my own way. I’m just sorry its not in a way that let you know that. I wasn’t by your side at any point in your life. But I want you to know I am now. If this magic is what you want , to become this powerful wolf, then I just want you to know I will do whatever you need me to do. I just want to say. Please be careful , I need you to come back so I can make up being a real father to you. ” he glanced up at me and I saw his sincerity. I didn’t even think , I just threw my arms around him and he hugged me back , like squeezed me back tightly. ” Be safe ” he whispers , then lets me go and turns away. I saw a hand come up and wipe his eyes just before his back was facing me.

” Dad ” I shouted after him. He glanced back at me and I couldn’t think of any words to say. So I just smiled at him , he smiled back before walking off and that was enough. That was enough.
