Rejected And Forsaken -
Chapter 25
The young lovers sprung apart and looked around to find Kat and Carol walking towards them. David and Nolan were right behind them. Elle started to panic and quickly removed herself from the awkward position she was in. She was blushing profusely when she realised that she was still straddling him when the members of the royal family arrived. And even the crown Princess was with them! Elle bowed her head in courtesy and kept her gaze fixed on her fiddling fingers. This most certainly was not the way she wanted her first meeting with them to be.
Kat shook her head. “Pss pss brother. It is a good thing dad and uncle had to talk about some stuff to the guards. So we came in without them.” Kat grinned and Evan g*****d. “Otherwise imagine their faces when they see you unable to let her go?”
The rest of the gang tried their best to stifle their laughter while Evan glared at his younger sister.
“Why couldn’t you all stay outside until I say so?” he growled.
“Why? So that you could finish mating with her and mark her in here? In the hospital? Desperate much Evan?” Carol smirked. It felt so good to tease him.
Nolan and David burst out in laughter while Kat high fived Carol. Elle, was now staring at the member of the royal family in disbelief. They were joking around, just like normal people. Evan covered his face shook his head.
“Who is doing what in the hospital?” came the king’s voice, startling everyone. Evan’s eyes went wide while Carol kept giggling. But soon, it was forgotten when Elle gasped and quickly bowed down to the best she could. “Your majesty.” She whispered.
King Richard chuckled. “No. Get up. You are family now. Hope you like it here. It would be a pleasure to have a brave vampire like you in the palace.” He said. “What is your name child?”
“Eliza. But everyone calls me Elle.” She answered.
Evan’s father walked up to Elle and placed his hands on hers and Evan’s. “I wish you both a happy and long life ahead. Your mother will be so happy.”
Evan smiled. “Papa. Will she come back soon?” he asked.
“Of course. Now the reason she went to the human world was to take the humans who got lost in these woods back to their world. It has been two weeks since she left so I think she will be back soon. I’m sure she will be delighted to meet Elle.”
“Welcome to our family Elle. I pity you. My brother can be hella crazy.” Kat said as she shook Elle’s hand. Carol giggled and patted on her back. “Yeah. I second that.” She added.
Evan glared at the two youngsters who fluttered their eyelashes at him. “No I’m not.” He retorted.
Elle couldn’t hide her grin when she saw the playful exchange between them.
“Don’t worry about him Elle. He won’t know what to do without us.” Carol giggled.
Evan rolled his eyes and turned his attention to his uncle and father who were smiling at their kids in amusement.
“So…. What did the guards find?” he asked fully knowing what they would find. The king’s expression changed suddenly to more serious one.
“Well, there was b***d bath in the area. More than twenty bandits were dead. Some of them were turned to ashes, while others had their hearts ripped out. I must say that is one hell of a fight you kids fought.” The king furrowed his eyebrows at Evan and Nolan.
“There is one problem though.” He whispered. Evan snapped his head towards Nolan. “How did two of you overpowered more than twenty of them? And that too with a human with you. He must have been a distraction. Didn’t they try to feed from him?” The king knew something was off. He knew the boys were telling only half of the truth. He knew something else had happened there. But what? That, he needed to find out.

Evan tried his best not to look at his friends. He had to think of an excuse fast.
“They didn’t attack all at once. Besides, David too is a good fighter. His punches are pretty mean.” Evan said, hoping that the king would stop questioning about it. The king looked sceptical. He had been alive for a long time and he knew a lot about how the attacks were made and how the claw marks looked like. Though he chose not to say anything, he was wise enough to realise that there was something that the kids were hiding. But to find out the truth, he had to be tactful.
The king looked at Nolan who nodded.
“Oh yes daddy. You should see him train. I love how he punched that punching bag. I would love to see him fight. I am so jealous of you two. You saw him fight before I did.” Carol pouted. Nolan looked at David and then at Evan. David was looked as if his shoes looked really interesting all of a sudden. Nolan and Evan smirked at each other.
Carol bit her lips at once, when she saw how Evan and Nolan reacted. Perhaps she should have stayed silent. “Really?” the king muttered. “Ok then. If so, good work all three of you. Though I wished to tear that idiot apart my self, I must commend your work.”
The king turned around to walk away. “I believe you all should get some sleep now. The sun will rise soon.” He said and left.
“You heard him. Now leave.” Evan stated when the elders walked out of the room.
“Oh no you don’t.” Kat responded. “You leave and we will stay. I don’t have any guarantee that you won’t try to mark her here. I can’t risk waking everyone up in here.” Kat smirked. “You know…..you maybe too loud.” Kat’s mischievous grin only infuriated Evan.
He gaped at his younger sister and growled making her yelp and hide behind Carol.
“What? You little…..” Evan was about to jump at his sister but Carol interfered.
“What. She is right. Now leave.” Carol agreed. Elle giggled. Evan looked at her and thought that it was the most beautiful sound he had heard.
“Babe? Do you…..”
“It is ok. Let them stay.” Elle answered making Evan pout.
Nolan put his arms around Evan’s shoulder and started to drag him towards the exit.
“Dude, let the ladies stay and bond. We have our own bonding to do.” Nolan wiggled his eyebrows and glanced at David who was smirking mischievously.
“Oh what are you two up to?” Evan didn’t have a good feeling about it. The guys just chuckled and dragged their friend out of the emergency room, leaving the girls alone.
Carol pov.
It felt so good to tease him. It was always him doing something but now, look at how the tables have turned. I looked at Elle who was lying on the bed. She still looked weak but now that she had fed, she must get better soon. Perhaps after some sleep, she would be able to leave the hospital.
“Try to sleep Elle. We will rest here.” I said pointing at the couch that was placed in this room. This part of the emergency room was specially prepared for VIPs so it was pretty spacious.
“But princess…..” she tried to say something. But I was not going to listen.
“It is ok. Rest. We can have time together later.” I smiled at her. It was so good to have another person to talk to. Spending time and talking to David was getting harder and harder as time passed. I had to force myself from not jumping in to his arms, relieved to see him safe and sound after a huge fight that took place in the woods.
I walked to the couch with Kat following me. The couch was convertible so that it was enough for both of us to rest on. I lied down and closed my eyes, still thinking about him. I wonder how he fought them. I’m sure that his muscles would have flexed and relaxed just like I could picture how it would. I felt a smile form on my lips. Oh he would have been so hot, with his bulging muscles and well toned abdomen. How sexy would he look when he fought.
“Thinking about him?”
Kat’s question made me open my eyes and stare at her. “What?”
“You are smiling like a creep Carol.” She replied.
I was? I bit my lips and took a deep breath. I felt her squeeze my hand. “With in three months you will turn eighteen. Are you ready for that?” she asked, making me look at her. Was I ready? I don’t know anymore.
She smiled at me, there was something strange in her smile. It was sincere but she looked as if she knew something.
“Look Carol. Everything is going to be ok. Just go with the flow.” She said.
“Why are you saying all this?” I asked.
“It is obvious you have started to feel something for David.” She chuckled. I paused my lips in a grim line. Was it that obvious?
“You are getting real wise Kat.” I replied. She smirked in response. “Well, I cannot be a child my whole life. I’m turning seventeen soon and then next year I’ll find my beloved. So I must grow up, don’t you think?”
I smiled. “Yeah. I think I need you around Kat. I need your help. And now we have Elle with us.”
“Of course. Now try to sleep.” She replied and turned to the other side. I lied on my back for a while. Three months, just three months are left and then it is time for me to meet him. I felt my insides churn uncomfortably and an unwanted discomfort in my chest. My heart ached at the thought of having to meet someone who I was destined to be with for the rest of my life, someone other than the one my heart yearns for. My eyes stung with tears and I let them roll down freely.
“I am not ready.” I whispered when I was sure that both Elle and Kat were fast asleep. The walls of the emergency room bore witness to my confession as my tears kept me company.
I took in a shaky breath, trying to console my weeping heart. Oh how I wish I could control what my heart desired.
