Rejected, Broken And Forgotten -
Chapter 120
Jeffrey’s POV
The prince is about a month old, and he is adorable. Elena is at her end, and I know my babies will be born any moment now. I can not wait to become a father. I hope I do not feel the pain Walker did. He is a tough wolf. He told me the pain was worse than he had felt before and had almost passed out. I am sure I will pass out if I have to feel the pain of three babies being born. I am sure of it unless the births are fast and I do not have to suffer too long. I do not want to be the laughingstock of the Kingdom.
Elena is upstairs in our room resting. She can hardly walk, and I can not blame her for wanting to sleep. I am busy binding our books since we print them here in the Kingdom. We do not want the rest of the world to read our story. Most will think it is fiction, but many humans have encountered dogmen, and I do not want them to continue telling those stories. Scary stories will make the world believe that werewolves are evil creatures who want to kill them. I want humans to forget what they saw. I know those that encountered the dogmen will forever remember it. It is a shame we can not trace them and wipe out their memories with the help of the vampires. They are still talking about that damn fight we had in the city with the vampires. There is video footage of the dogmen and even that fight, but it is easy to make it disappear from the internet. The thing is to get those who captured it and those who tell their stories as they post anonymously, and we do not know who they are in real life. I think they are afraid of the government and think the government will come after them if they tell their story under their real name. Anyway, there is nothing we can do about it, so the best is to ignore it and not give it any more thought.
It is late, so I decide to go to bed. I know Elena is waiting for me, and she never sleeps before I go to bed. She loves me, and I love her. We have a special bond, and I know the Moon Goddess played a last trick on me and gave me three babies to raise all simultaneously. Oh, Selene, you are a trickster. You promised me many children, but then you gave them all at once. I bet you are laughing at me right now. I walk into the room, thinking about how Selene tricked me again. Elena is sitting on the bed, and I feel sorry for my mate. She looks uncomfortable with her big belly. I am hoping that the babies come quickly.
“Are you okay? Honey, you look so uncomfortable. Can I rub your feet?” I ask.
“You are always so caring, my love. I am okay. My back is hurting, but it hurts every day, and my wolf helps me but can not heal me until our babies are born,” Elena says.
“You know I love you and will do anything for you. Let me rub your back,” I ask. I sit behind Elena and start rubbing her back. I know Elena will not tell me when she is in real pain as she does not want to sound like a weakling. My back hurts, so I know she is in pain. Oh s**t! I think it means that I will also feel her birth pains. I can feel the pain in my back getting better as I rub her back, and I know it is because I am rubbing her with all the love I feel. Elena m***s and I feel a pain in my stomach. It is a pain I have never felt before. I think the babies are coming, but I remain calm. I will not panic as Walker did. I need to stay calm.
“Honey, I think the babies are coming, but let us wait for a while to ensure it is not a false alarm,” Elena says.
“Are you sure we have to wait? We need to go to the hospital,” I say.
“Not yet, babe. We can wait a while. It is not like babies are born immediately,” Elena says.
“I know, but you are expecting three, and you are a werewolf. You know a she-wolf can give birth fast or take a long time. It depends on so many things. The Queen took a while to give birth, but who knows how long you will take,” I try to convince Elena. I know she is stubborn and will not listen to me, but I had to try anyway.
“I will know when I am ready, Jeff. Do not make me angry,” Elena says. I know she is not angry at me. She is scared like any female in the world before giving birth. It is natural, especially when it is your first child, or, like, in our case, children.
“Fine, I will let you tell me when we can go to the hospital, but I can not catch babies,” I say.
“Yeah, yeah,” Elena says, and we grab each other’s hands as the pain hits us again. We need to go to the hospital as the pain is getting worse, and I keep timing the pain and looking at Elena.
“You know, not going to the hospital will keep the babies from coming,” I say.
“I know,” Elena says, and she is sweating as much as I am. That is it! I am not going to let her stay here any longer. What if something happens to her or the babies? I can not let anything happen to them.
“We are going to the hospital, and I do not want to hear another word,” I say.
“Honey, can we not wait a few more minutes? To make sure. I do not want to look like a fool,” Elena asks. I look at Elena as if she is crazy. Does the woman not feel my pain, or is she scared to give birth? I do not know, but if there is one thing I do know, we can not wait any longer. Elena gets up and walks around. She is breathing heavily, and I must breathe with her as I feel her pain. I know it is now or never. I hold her and walk slowly to the packhouse’s door. I can see and feel she is close to giving birth. Luckily, Paris moved us to the ground floor because she did not want Elena to climb any stairs. The Kingdom hospital is not far away, but I put Elena in an SUV and drove her the little way to the hospital. She is still complaining that I am too quick, but when we walked into the hospital, her water broke, and I almost slipped on it and had to grab onto a table to keep my balance. I glare at Elena, who is laughing.
“It is not funny. What if your water broke at home? See, I told you we needed to go,” I say.
“Yeah, I am so scared, Jeff. What if something happens to the babies or me?” She asks.
“Nothing will happen to you, but if you gave birth at home and there were complications, something could have happened to you or our babies,” I say. The nurses help us to a delivery room fast, and Nathan walks in to help Elena deliver the babies. I am glad it is him, as he is a gentle wolf.
“Let me guess. She did not want to come to the hospital. I know how you always had to drag her here for her examinations. Elena, I know you do not like hospitals, but I will take good care of you and your babies. Do not be afraid! Doctor Nathan is in the house,” Nathan says. I smile as he understands my mate, knowing he will be gentle with her and our babies. I smile and mouth thank you to Nathan.
“I am not afraid of anything, doc. Let’s do this and bring these little buggers into the world,” Elena says. She looks brave, but I know she is scared. I hold her hand, and Nathan tells her to start pushing. I know the babies will come soon as they are in a hurry to come into this world. We do not know their genders, and I do not care as long as they are healthy. Elena pushes, and I feel her pain whenever she is in pain. I know the first one will be the hardest. She and I always work as a team, and this time is no different. Elena pushes, and I help her sit up and lie down when I need to. I help her with the breathing exercises. The pain is intense, but I try not to show my pain and focus on Elena and our babies. I can see Elena sweating, and I wipe the sweat off her forehead with a damp cloth. Soon I hear the crying of our first baby. The doctor puts a little bow on the baby’s arm, and a few seconds later, the second one is born. Then the third. Every time the nurses put another colored ribbon on the baby’s arm, we know who was born first, second, and third.
“Well, they look identical,” Nathan says.
“They are triples,” I say dryly.
“They are all healthy, and Elena is fine, and her wolf will start healing her,” Nathan says.
“Can I hold them?” Elena asks. I am wondering about the genders but am too afraid to ask.
“Yes, ma’am, you may hold your daughters. You have three healthy girls,” Nathan says.
“Well, Katherine, Kimberley, and Kayla are all fine then,” Elena says. I look at her and smile. I like the names. Elena knows me well.
“You are now outnumbered four to one,” Nathan teases me.
“That is the least of my problems. How will I keep all the male wolves away from my daughters? If they look like their mother, I will have my hands full,” I say as Elena and the nurses clean the babies after Elena feeds them. She went to take a shower and is now back in the room.
“Their cousin will help you, and so will their uncle and aunt,” Paris says from the door. She is holding little Frederick in her arms. We are not as weak as humans, and our babies are born strong, so we do not have to put them behind glass or protect them against germs.
“Look, Kat, Kim, and Kay, the royal family came to visit you,” Elena says.
“We are their aunt and uncle, and Freddy is their cousin,” Walker says. Elena smiles, and I know this means a lot to her.
“That is right! We are family. So from then on, the three girls are duchesses, as you and Jeff will be known as the Duke and Dutchess of Sussex, and you will rule over Sussex,” Paris says. I can not believe what I hear. The King and Queen never gave out titles, and I never wanted one, but it is a great honor. Sussex is one of many parts of the Kingdom. London and Nathan also get titles as the Duke and Duchess of Essex, and Ben is the Duke of Mercia. The Kingdom is still under the King and Queen, but they need people to help rule it. Nina and Ace are the Duke and Duchess of Americano, as we call that part of the Kingdom. Our children will carry on our titles and their children after it, but the King and Queen will always remain the children of Paris and Walker, the King and Queen who united the werewolves.
