Rejected, Broken And Forgotten -
Chapter 49
Paris’s POV
We have scanned the whole area and are happy to know there are no more rogues. We are ready to go back to the Kingdom. Something is bothering me, though. Can we trust Peter to take him to our Kingdom? I have to talk to Walker alone as I think we need to take Peter to another place where he can learn to become a werewolf, or we need to take him with us to the states, as I do not want to leave him in the Kingdom. Who knows what the humans did to him and if they have maybe planted devices inside him that can betray us? We told him about the Moon Goddess, how she is our goddess, and how we pray only to her. He seems eager to learn, and for me, he seems too eager. I need to tell Jeff not to tell him anything about our Kingdom or where it is, as he loves to teach everyone everything. However, I can see Jeff is hesitant to talk too much about the Kingdom as Peter tries to find out more about where and how we live. He already knew about the King and Queen of werewolves, so someone must have told him about it. Maybe it was the rogues, as he smelled of them. Perhaps it was the humans who knew more about us than we suspected. I do not know, but we will have to find out before we bring him near our Kingdom.
“Honey, can I talk to you for a second?” I ask Walker. He gets up from where he sits around the fire with the other wolves.
“Sure, baby,” Walker says. The other wolves whistle as they think we are going into the bushes to make love.
“I am not so sure about this Peter guy,” I whisper to Walker when we are far enough from the others to whisper, and they will not be able to hear us.
“I know I also got a bad vibe from him, and Jeff is also worried as he is asking too many questions. Let’s mislead him and tell him we live in these woods and not take him to our Kingdom. He must know something about us as he knew we are the King and Queen of werewolves around here, but I do not think he knows about the Kingdom as he keeps asking where we are living,” Walker says.
“I think it is the best. We can take him to the old ruins of the ancient Kingdom of East Anglia. It is far enough away from our Kingdom, and he will only see the old castle and the old ruins. He will think we are like animals and live there and do not have towns. We can not let him discover that we are more like humans than he thinks,” I say. Jeffery told us about the ruins of the once mighty Kingdom of East Anglia and that the old castle and ruins are still there. Jeff joins us as he suspected that we were talking about Peter.
“That is a great idea, Queen. I also do not trust him, and he seems eager to learn. We can see what happens after we take him there and tell him we are the ones left of the Kingdom and that we stay in the ruins,” Jeff says.
“That is what humans will think we live like, and maybe that is why he was living in a cave, as he believes all werewolves live in caves. He asked me if we lived in packs, and I told him, sometimes, like the rogues we killed do, to protect themselves against humans,” I say. I did not want to tell him about the Kingdoms, our packs, and how we lived, as we had already found out about their devices and a way to scramble them. Our wolves know they are not allowed to teach or talk to him about how we live. As we told them, we first must find out if we can trust Peter. I am not sure we can trust him as he is human first, and he may be planted here to learn more about our way of living. We do not know what the rogues have told him about our Kingdom and us, but it could not have been a lot as he keeps asking questions. Maybe he was not long enough with them, and they also did not trust him completely. We do not know how long he has been with the rogues. Still, we do know they did not talk much about the Kingdom because most rogues want to forget about their past and what they lost and do not want to be reminded about the Kingdom and happier days as they are afraid to wake up their human side again. If there is one thing a rogue does not want, it is for his human side to take over again, as it will make them feel guilty about what they have become.
“Yeah, luckily, he told us about the rogues he lived with and looked surprised when I told him we killed them,” Walker says.
“It made our stories to him more believable,” I say.
“Yeah, but what do we do with him after we get to the ruins?” Jeff asks.
“We wait and see if he runs back to the humans and tells them where we are. If he does, we know he was planted here. We know he is just curious and wants to be more like us if he does not. We will have to give it a few weeks,” Walker says.
“We are wasting valuable time, and we need to get to the states and save the wolves there, but I agree our priority is our Kingdon,” I say. Jeff smiles as he looks at me.
“You have come a long way, my Queen,” He says. I still remember the first day I met him and Wallis.
“I have, thanks to you and Wallis. I am glad Wallis and Linsey are with my grandmother to protect the Kingdom while we are gone,” I say.
“I am just glad Linsey found her mate and is leaving me alone,” Walker laughs. Elena joins us.
“I have a plan. Do you know how even turned werewolves have mates? I do not trust Peter, but I know a lot of she-wolves, and we can see if one of them is his mate. If she is, she can keep an eye on him and see what he is up to,” Elena says. Elane is clever, and I will give that to her. She thinks with a more open mind than we do. Even if Peter is a spy for humans, he will tell his mate everything, and that is what we need, but what if his mate decides to stick with him and show her loyalty to her mate and not us?
“It is all good and well, but we know that a mate will always stick with her mate and the other way around,” Jeff says.
“I was thinking the same. What if she decides to stick with Peter and not us?” I ask.
“You do not know the she-wolves I know, and they will never betray our King and Queen. We have been waiting long enough for you and the new Kingdom, and they are loyal and will always be loyal to you,” Elena says. She sounds very sure of her facts, and I can not help to believe her.
“Well, we might as well try it and see what happens. It is better than what we planned to see if he runs away or not and tells the humans about the old ruins, but we will still take him only to the ruins. We do not want him to know too much about us, and you better hope that the she-wolf does not betray us,” I say. I trust Elena, and I know she will not do anything to put the Kingdom in danger.
“Queen, I promise you I will not do anything to put the Kingdom in danger. First of all, I trust my she-wolves, and secondly, I do not want Jeff to be angry at me if things go south,” Elena says. I can see she feels her heart by my words, and I hug her.
“I trust you, and I love you. Don’t think I do not trust you. I am just worried about the mate bond and how far a she-wolf will go for her mate,” I say.
“Let me tell you one thing, my Queen, my she-wolves will betray their mate for the Kingdom as they have been waiting for his Kingdom and fighting for it way too long. We are ready to be your warriors, and not even a mate bond will get in our way. Elena says I would rather leave Jeff than betray you and my Kingdom. Sorry, honey, but I am just honest,” Elena says as she looks at Jeff.
Third person’s POV
“I appreciate your loyalty to the Kingdom, love. That is the way it is meant to be. Your pack or Kingdom comes first, then your mate and family,” Jeff says. A werewolf loyal to their Kingdom or pack will not lose their humanity if they lose their mate as they are soldiers and are dedicated to their King, Queen, Alpha, and Luna. Their mate will rather join them in the fight for the Kingdom or pack as they will not want to be the ones that lose their mates as they will be the weaker mate.
“Let us hope that Peter will be the weaker mate,” Jeff says, as he has explained all of this to the werewolves with him. He had to choose often between a mate and the Kingdom of Essex, and he always chose his Kingdom, and his mates usually decided to stay with him. He knows how it feels. It is not easy, but he is a soldier loyal to his Kingdom and packs. He will never choose a mate over his King and Queen, and now that the Kingdoms are united, he knows the loyalty of the wolves is stronger than ever, as they know the legacy and how the Kingdom and their King and Queen will save the werewolves. The wolves will never betray their new King and Queen, and every wolf they can turn to their side is a wolf won. They need to try and help Peter if he is a traitor and the best way to help him is to help him find a mate. He has to realize that he is no longer a human but a wolf, and he will have to fight on their side if he wants to survive, as the humans will use him until they have no more use for him, then they will kill him as he is more robust, faster and more brutal than they will ever be.
“Well, let us try it and maybe save Peter. We don’t know if he is true to us, as we can not read his mind, but once he finds a hamate that is stronger than him, he might decide to become one of us and not let other humans use him,” Jeff says.
“I agree. Even if he is a traitor, now, we need to give him a chance. He was human his whole life, and he may still feel like he owes them his loyalty and helps save humankind, but maybe if he realizes that we are here to protect humans, he may change his mind,” Paris says.
“Yeah, maybe when his mate can tell him our purpose in life and why the Moon Goddess made us, he will understand and know what this world is all about,” Elena says. She has mind-linked her she-wolves, and they are all willing to help, but they have sworn their loyalty to the Kingdom, and even if Peter is their mate and he wants to betray the Kingdom, they will not let him and rather kill their mate than betray their new Kingdom, King or Queen. They are all willing to come and see if they can make Peter part of the Kingdom if he is not already loyal to the Kingdom and the King and Queen.
