Chapter 59

Paris POV

Yeah, I am still pissed off at Herman, but I understand why he did what he did. He was tapped like all of us, and he found his mate, or rather, his mate found him. I know he knows nothing about the mate bond, but she will find him again. She is in a zone where she needs to find her mate, or she will become a rogue, and I have a feeling that Herman’s mate is not like other she-wolves. She will not give up on him. Her human side must love him a lot, which is why she will never stop looking for him. Paula can not give up on Herman as he is her mate, but we do not know what Paula has become. Is he one of the dogmen or not? We will have to find out when she gets here, and we know she will come for her mate.

“When was the last time you saw Paula?” I ask.

“When they took her away about two months ago,” Herman says. I look at Walker. She must have escaped, which is why they watched Herman’s cabin all the time. The soldiers were hoping she would come to Herman. We know she will come for Herman, but we still need his help. If he can control the dogmen, he can also make that chip in their brains go off. I decided to play the mate card, and I needed to try something.

“You know Paula is going to come for you. You are her mate, and she will not let you go, but the human army might have planted that chip in her brain and made her go rogue. So if you want to see her again, you need to deactivate those chips,” I say.

“How do you know that?” Herman asks me.

“Because a she-wolf will never forget her mate if she still has her human side,” I say.

“Then I will have to get this chip to stop working. I must see Paula again before I die,” Herman says.

“Why do you think you will die?” I ask him.

“The government never leaves loose ends,” Herman says.

“You must not have much faith in your wolf friends, as we will protect you,” I say.

“Are you my friends, or are you just using me like the government?” Herman asks.

“We are your friends, and if Paula does not find you, we will find her,” Walker says.

“You promise on the Moon Goddess life?” Herman asks. He knows it is the holiest promise we can make.

“We promise on the Moon Goddess life,” Walker says, and I nod.

“Fine, then I will deactivate all the chips as I know how to,” Herman says. I have a feeling a but is coming.

“But I want Paula back first,” Herman says, and I knew that, as I knew, it would be his condition before helping us.

We called Mariam to trace Paula, and we knew she would need something from Paula to track her. Mariam walks over to Herman, asking him if he has anything personal of Paula’s. He takes out a hair clip. It is evident to us that it is very precious to him. He hands it to Mariam, and she puts it on the map of America. Mariam starts chanting, and the hairpin begins moving. It moves to our land and close to Herman’s cabin. We look at each other confused, but Herman jumps up and runs outside.

“Paula, my love, show yourself,” He shouts. A shy werewolf with many scars on her face walks out of the bushes.

“I told you before, Herman. I can not be with you. Look at me. I am scared for my life. Why don’t you stop looking for me? Why do you keep calling my soul to yours?” She asks. I can see the sadness on her face.

“I love you, Paula, and I can not live without you. To me, you are beautiful. I do not care about your scars. I love your soul. Your beautiful soul,” Herman says. I look at Mariam, and I know she knows as well as I do the she-wolf will never take her mate while looking like that. Mariam and the shamans start chanting the scars start healing. A werewolf can get battle scars that will not heal completely. Sometimes to the face and sometimes to other parts of the body.

Third Person’s POV

Mariam and the shamans chant until the scars on Paula’s face disappear. Paula can not believe that her face looks so beautiful after years of carrying the scars with her. She was not even a rogue, but her father gave her those scars when she was young. She never thought she would get rid of them, and now they are gone. She can accept her human mate at last. Mariam smiles at her as she thanks Miriam and the shamans.

“It was all our pleasure. Now go and accept your mate as he loved you with your scars, and he will accept you now,” Miriam says.

“But what can I do, thank you?” Paula asks.

‘Accept your mate even if he is a human. He loves you,” Paris says. Herman is looking at the wolves as if they were freaks. How can werewolves have magical powers? He does not understand. He looks at Paula, who is even more beautiful in his eyes.

“I love you, Paula, and your scars did not bother me at all. I thought, because of what I have done, you don’t want me as your mate. And there was also the flack that I was a human,” Herman says.

“I love you, Herman, and I just wanted to be perfect for you,” Paula says.

“You were always perfect for me, Paula. You did not have to change to ask me to be your mate. I always wanted you, and now I will help your kind to become even stronger and fight the evil within us,” Hermans says. The wolves leave them alone for a while so they can have private time.

After a while, Herman and his mate come out of his cabin. He does not look so grumpy anymore. There is even a smile on his face. The wolves do not even ask questions as they know what has happened in the cabin. They can see the mark on Herman’s neck and know he will be a full werewolf by the next moon. Herman is happy as he always wanted to be a werewolf, and now he will become one. He thinks about the general and knows he can help him not to turn, but he does not want to help him. Wayne caused him a lot of pain, and he could not forgive him. Wayne needs to suffer and realize how it feels to be a werewolf. He will plant that bloody chip into his brain and control him. Wayne will be his servant for the rest of his life as he kills his friends and the werewolves in the lab. Herman can not forgive Wayne for what he has done. Herman feels like he could have helped many of the rogues in his lab to become human again. He wanted to help them as he was getting close to getting their human side back, as he started working on their memory of how it was before they were rogues.

“Queen, there was just another incident, and a group of hikers went missing, and only one survived. The police are questioning him now and think he killed the whole group with him. He says he got lost in the mist and lost his group. When he got to the path they were following, he could only find bloody clothes and a backpack. He walked on and found a cave, but inside, he said he had found creatures he can only describe as werewolves, and he ran away as he heard them eating the flesh. He thinks it is his hiking mates, but nobody takes him seriously. I think it might be dogmen, and maybe we should check it out,” Jonathan says to Paris. He has lately taken a liking to Paris more than Walker, as she is always willing to listen.

“Why can’t you tell me that?” Walker asks, annoyed.

“Because you do not always listen to us, King, but the Queen does,” Johnathan says.

“Well, that is true,” Jeff says.

“Well, f**k you all. I do listen. You just have to take it directly to me,” Walker says.

“Honey, do not take it personally. They are just more scared of you than me,” Paris says to calm Walker down.

“Well, that makes more sense, but you guys do not have to be scared of me,” Walker says.

“Yeah, we will try, but what are we going to do about the dogmen in the park?” Jonathan asks.

“We are going there, and Herman is going to use his device to help us get to help those dogmen,” Walker says.

“I do not know what to think right now. I want to help the dogmen, but what if they attack us?” Herman asks, as he is not yet a wolf and wants to keep his mate safe.

“Then we attack back,” Paris says.

“But what about those of us that can not attack yet?” Herman asks.

“You stay back and let us do the attacking then, ” Walker says.

Everyone is tired of these dogmen showing them in a bad light. They want to do their job by protecting humans, and these dogmen are giving them a bad name. The wolves are ready to attack. They want to kill every dogman and are causing humans to hate them for killing humans and blaming it on werewolves. They want them all to die, but at the same time, they want them to live and be part of them, as it is not the dogmen’s fault that they are who they are. It is all because of humans. Humans and the ones behind them. They all know that most vampires are behind this, and they want to fight the vampires to show them that they are the majestic creatures made by the Moon Goddess. Vampires are cursed creatures that do not even deserve to exist, except for their friend who has a daylight ring.

They are ready to go and fight and help those dogmen, but if they have to kill them to save the humans and werewolves, they have to.

“I got something! I just figured it out. Give me a few hours before you go and attack. I can control the dogmen, but I know how to deactivate the chip!” Herman shouts.

“How?” Paris asks.

“It is easier than you think. We will have to activate their human side, and as they activate the wolf side, I activate the human side,” Herman says.

“Huh? I have no clue what you just said,” Paris says. Everyone is confused, but Herman runs inside his cabin and comes out with his laptop.

“I will show you, but you will have to give me a chance to get close to the dogmen so I can overwrite the program the army has put in place,” Herman says.

“We can do that and keep them busy while you do whatever you need to,” Paris says. She is skeptical and looks at Herman as if she does not trust him. What if he uses the dogmen and orders them to attack her wolves? She will kill them before they can, but she does not like the idea that a human has the power to control dogmen. She wants these creatures, whether created by humans or not, to have a choice. She wants to tell them about the Moon Goddess and how they are made for mates, and she wants them to become wolves like them. Paris wants the dogmen that were humans before to become like them and become full wolves.
