Kristina’s POV

Wayne and I drive to LA. I use an SUV with blacked-out windows as I do not want my father to know about my ring. Well, not yet. He does not stay with the dogmen or the humans as he does not trust them. I know my father has trust issues. He never trusted anyone, and he will only take on those weaker than he is. The humans are more vulnerable than him, but he does not know who has white oak stakes. He knows a few in the world, and some werewolves have some of them, but he does not know where they are and who has them. He thinks they are long lost as all the werewolves that went to the mainland to flee the hunters are dead. Well, werewolves can still kill him by ripping out his heart or decapitating him, and so can humans and hunters. Humans are not strong enough, though, as they are weaker than supernatural creatures. My father fears hunters and werewolves and does not know if he can trust the humans not to let a werewolf or hunter slip in and kill him. I never loved my evil father, and my mother never cared about us. We were just children in their eyes and heirs, so their surname will never die. That was before we were cursed and became the monsters we are today.

Now we are like warriors to them. I know my father will be furious because I was so long away from home and did not contact him. He does not like being away from his castle as he feels safe there, and seeing him traveling to America surprised me. I know he wants to build a fortress in LA, but he will always keep the old castle if he needs to flee to a safe place. It is a long trip to LA, and I enjoy spending time with Wayne. I know I will have to get his smell off me before I reach my father, as he will not trust me if he smells a werewolf. I know how to do it. All I need to do is bathe the poison Mariam gave me. I will do it before going to my father and smelling the shaman. Hopefully, he will believe my story and not kill me. He always wanted a daylight ring, and I would tell him I wanted to look for one for him. I can not let him have mine or Romans. I know it will kill an evil vampire if he tries to wear it, but it will also destroy the ring, and I do not want to destroy the rings as that is Roman and my only chance to live a normal life. Roman always dreams of the day he can escape my father, and I will help him no matter what. Roman is soft-hearted and romantic. He wants to study art, but my father sees him as a weakling and will never accept a son that wants to be an artist.

At last, we reach LA. Since I can not give my father a daylight ring, I can give him the small pack of wolves near the shaman’s grounds, and it should make him happy with me again. He thinks I am the strongest of all his children, but I am not. I know Luka is the strongest. He is my older brother, and he does not give a s**t about my father or mother. He does what he wants, and if my father tries to rule him, Luca laughs him off. Luca is evil. Sometimes I think he is worst than my father. Luca hates everything and everyone. He blames the curse on my mother and father and will kill them with a smile if he can, but he is banned from our home, and no one knows where Luca is. Luca does not care who or what he kills. If they stand in his way of getting to my father and mother, he will kill them, including our siblings. Anyway, enough of Luca. I do not know what has become of him. He might be dead by now, as we did not hear from him for decades. I think my father also thinks Luca is dead. I am not so sure he is, but that is just a gut feeling I have, and I am afraid that he is building up an army to take on whoever is standing in his way of killing our parents. Not that I would care if he killed them, but Luca is also clever and would not want himself to die. He thinks if he kills my parents and all of the vampires’ bloodlines, the Sun God will forgive him and give him back his life. I need to save Roman. That is all I care about right now. Luca can be a problem in the future or not.

“You will have to wait for me at the motel. No matter how long it takes. Please do not come and look for me,” I tell Wayne.

“What if your father hurts you?” Wayne asks.

“He will not as I will give him that Ravenstone wolves. Trust me, my love, and do not come and look for me. I will die if I should lose you,” I beg of Wayne.

“I will wait for you. I promise,” Wayne says, and I k**s him before I go to an empty room in the motel to wash in the potion Miriam gave me. I walk out of the motel when it is dark to the big hotel I know my father bought years ago. I can see that the windows are all dark, and in today’s world, it is not funny to see buildings with dark windows. I can not walk in the sun to my father as he would know I have a daylight ring, and I do not know if Mariam can make any more rings. I have the two rings with me, but I hide them in my clothing so my father will not see them. He is not magical, so he can not detect magical objects and does not trust witches or warlocks. He trusts no one but the vampires that always surround him.

“Where have you been?” My father’s voice comes out of the dark.

“Hello to you too, father,” I say.

“You smell like shamans,” He says without greeting me.

“I were at the shaman’s to see if they can make our rings to walk in the sun again, but I could not find one that trusted me enough yet, but I did find a werewolf pack,” I say.

“Where?” He asks.

“About three days’ drive from here,” I say.

“Good job. I knew you were looking for something, and I knew you would come back,” He says.

“I always come back, and you know I am always looking for magical creatures to create us rings so we can walk in the sun. I believe there is somewhere in the world a spell that can do it,” I say.

“You and your dreams, but I must admit I would love to have a ring like that. So tell me more about this wolfpack you found instead,” Mikhail says.

“It is in the north near the shamans, I will draw you a map as they will know me as they see me, and I can not go there. They hunted me and almost killed me,” I lie. I do not want to go with my father’s men, and I know he will not take Roman as he sees Roman as a weakling and not a fighter.

“Yeah, we want to surprise them, and if they know what you look like, it would not be a surprise when we start killing them,” My father says. I know he will most probably not go himself but send the humans, and he is too much of a coward to go himself, but I have a plan for Roman and me to escape.

“You look pale. When was the last time you fed?” He asks me.

“Hahaha, I always look pale and fed this morning,” I say. It is not a lie. I did drink b***d from a bag this morning, as I have not turned into a hybrid yet. My father can not see my mark hidden behind my hair and clothing. If he sees it, I know I am dead. He and his vampires will kill me, and I must be careful around him.

“Good,” My father says. His men walk in with a bunch of women, and I know my father will be busy for the rest of the night.

“Where are mother and Roman?” I want to greet them, I ask.

“Your mother is busy, and your stupid coward of a brother is in his room painting or something,” My father says, and I know he wants to get rid of me.

“I will leave you with your women for the night. See you tomorrow night, father,” I say as I walk upstairs. I know he will give Roman the top room as he wants to be as far away from my brother as he can be. I walk to Roman’s room and knock as I can smell my brother.

“Come in,” Roman says.

“Hi, brother,” I say. Roman is not painting but playing on a computer.

“You are back. I thought you left for good this time,” Roman says.

“You know I will never leave you,” I say.

“Can we escape yet?” He asks. I take out the rings and put one on his finger. He smiles. I put the other one on my finger and wrote to him on a piece of paper. Tomorrow morning. It is daylight rings, and it works.

“Hahaha, I wish,” I say as we always make that joke, and we know my father always has spies around to spy on who is trying to betray him. I eat the piece of paper and swallow it, and I do not want anyone to find it.

“I found a new game I am playing. It is exciting,” Roman says, making small talk. The vampires already know that Roman and I joke about escaping, and I hear the spy move on as he knows we are not up to anything. This time they are wrong, and they do not know it. We sit up talking all night as we do when I come home or when I am home. Tomorrow morning we will walk out of the front door, and no one will be able to follow us. My father has already sent his human soldiers to the pack, and I know the Cloverfield Pack has already left the night before for England. I will compel someone to take us to England on a private jet or something. There are enough in this area.

The following morning, my father, mother, and his men were still in their rooms. Roman and I walk out of the front door and use our vampire speed to run to where Wayne is waiting. Wayne looks relieved to see me, and I hug, k**s, and introduce him to Roman. At first, Roman looks afraid of Wayne, but soon he relaxes as he can see that Wayne and I are in love.

“We need to move, and we need to stay in the sun and get to a plane,” I say. We start moving and soon find an airport and a guy in his private jet, and I compel him to take us to England. He must be wealthy as he orders his pilots to take off to England. Soon we are in the air, and I relax. I know we have finally escaped. My father and my little brother are safe with me. My father will never find us in the werewolf Kingdom, and if he does, he will be a dead man. We will help the werewolves in their stand against the evil creatures on this earth.
