Luca’s POV

Mariana and I walk in the walls of the Castle. The map showed us where we could enter, and the Castle plans showed us where we would end up. We can see and hear everything. I know my father is not happy at this time, as I can listen to him shouting and screaming at his vampires.

“What do you mean the human soldiers are dead?” He shouts.

“I do not know how it happened or who killed them, but we found them dead in the woods,” One of the vampires says.

“We keep losing men! It is those damn werewolves from the Kingdom!” Mikhail shouts.

“We have been looking for the Kingdom all over England, even where the old Kingdoms were. Humans are staying in the castles. We took the devices and scanned everyone, but there were no werewolves there,” Another vampire says.

“Hmm, maybe they moved back to the mainland,” Mikhail says.

“We do not know, Duke. The area is big, and we keep scanning it to find the wolves, but it is like every wolfpack has disappeared,” One of the other vampires says.

“That is impossible! Maybe the human equipment is not working anymore! We need to use our senses. We need to get in between the people of the old kingdoms and find out whether they are wolves. I know it is a dangerous mission, but we will send our best men in,” Mikhail says. We must warn the King and Queen about what my father is planning. We can not let him find the Kingdom. We can not let him know where we are building our army to attack him and his evil vampires. I know if he finds out where the Kingdom is, he will build a large army himself to attack the Kingdom. So we must stop him before he and his vampires can find out where the Kingdom is. We will have to catch his vampires and kill them. I know he trains them well, as I always looked on when he trained them. He is a ruthless leader but a good soldier. It is a shame he is such a coward. I would love to fight him and kill him. What he did to so many humans is a crime. I want to see him punished, but first, I want him to panic. I want all the vampires around him dead, and he must know how it feels to be alone. I know he will not like it and will panic if he realizes he is alone and has no one to protect him anymore.

I nod to Mariana, and we move quickly and quietly out of the Castle. We reach the cave where we have entered the Castle from. I take my cell phone and call the King. I tell him what my father is planning, and I know he and the Queen will return to England to protect their Kingdom from my father and his vampires. As soon as the vampires land, the wolves will be on them and kill them.

We go back to the Castle. We will start taking out some of the vampires, and I have stakes, and so does Mariana. We know where the doors are where we can enter the Castle. The sun is rising as we reach the inside of the Castle. I know my father will be going to bed now, and his guards will be standing in front of his bedroom door. My father never goes to bed without his guards guarding his room. I smile as I think I will start with his guards. I know it will freak him out when he wakes up, sees the dust of his guards, and does not know how they got killed. I am fast and can move in the sunlight, while the guards are restricted to moving in the shadows. Mariana and I will have to be quick and do it quietly. I do not want my father to wake up and find me in his Castle. I do not want any of them to know that I can come and go as I please without them detecting me, so we will have to kill all of them. We move to a door that opens in the hallway in front of my father’s bedroom. I look through the peepholes to see where the guards are. There are five of them. Mariana and I move quickly, and before the vampires know what is going on, they all turn to dust. We run back to the door and hide again. I can not wait for my father to wake up and discover that his guards are all dead and turned into dust. My father must have heard something as his door opens.

“What the hell!” My father screams. The other vampires come running as they hear his screams.

“Duke, what is wrong?” One of the generals shouts.

“My guards are all dead. Look at the dust! Who did this?” My father shouts. I could see he was panicking as this happened in front of his bedroom door where he was sleeping.

“We were all downstairs guarding the Castle, and no one came in or out of the Castle,” The general says. I want to laugh but keep my laugh in as I do not want my father to hear me.

“It is the second time someone got into the Castle and killed some of our men! There must be a secret door somewhere! We need to find the plans of the Castle so we can know how they got in,” My father shouts.

“We will start looking for them, Duke,” The general says.

“I will not be able to sleep now! Whoever got in was right in front of my bedroom! They could have killed me, which means the rest of you will also die,” My father says.

“Come with us, Duke. We will put you in the tower. No one can get there without being seen,” The general says.

“No, I will go with you, and we will all stay together,” My father says.

“We will not let anything happen to you, Duke,” The General says. I smile, as I know my father is spooked. It will treat him right. For once, I want him to be scared like we were of him when we were children.

“You do not think it can be the ghost of the Duchess?” One of the vampires asks.

“Do not be stupid! There is no such thing as ghosts!” My father shouts, but I can see he is looking around to ensure there is no ghost in the Castle. My father is very superstitious. He believes in curses, and I can not blame him for that, as he is a living example of a curse. I wonder if he believes in ghosts as it looks like it by the way he looks around him.

“Yes, Duke. I am sorry for talking nonsense,” The vampire says.

“Yeah, do not talk about ghosts again! We lost a lot of vampires when the Duchess died, and now we are losing vampires, and we do not know how. We must get behind this and find out how someone got into the Castle and killed those guards. They were some of my best guards, and it can not happen again!” Mikhail shouts. Mariana and I follow them as they walk to the library. I know they will never find the maps and plans of the Castle. We ensure that we do not make a sound so they can not hear us in the walls. There are peepholes everywhere, and I can watch them without them noticing us. The peepholes are also hidden like the secret doors where we enter.

“I do not like this at all. It feels like I am being watched all the time. Let us start going through my father’s stuff and see if we can find the bloody plans for the Castle. I want them to make sure there are no secret entrances to the Castle we do not know of,” My father says.

“Yes, Duke,” His men answer him, and they look through my grandfather’s desk and the books in the library. I know my grandfather must have carried them with him all the time, so he put them in those envelopes for our children to find one day. Maybe my grandfather was hoping we would rebel against Mikhail and kill him. My grandfather died before the curse; therefore, he did not know that it would take me decades to find those letters.

“I am sure the old bastard must have hidden it somewhere because he did not want me to find it,” Mikhail says.

“We will look everywhere, Duke,” The general of his army says. I smile. My grandfather hid it before his eyes and did not even realize it.

“I looked through the vault, but it was not there, so he did not have it with him. It must be here somewhere or in his old room,” Mikhail says.

“I will send a few men up to look in his room and his old study,” The general says. I shake my head. My father is not very clever. Can he not think that the letters my grandfather and grandmother had in their hands were the map and the plans for the Castle? He must know I took their bodies to bury them. If he could think, he would realize that I got those letters and now everything is starting to happen at the Castle.

“He is foolish,” I think to myself.

“Maybe your father carried the plans with him, and when Luca took their bodies, he found the plans, and he is the one doing all this to us,” The general says.

“I searched my father’s and mother’s bodies years ago, and there was nothing on them except for the gypsy curses they held in their hands. They thought I was stupid and would read the curses, but I never opened their stupid letter with the gypsy sign on them,” my father says. I can see the general rolling his eyes when my father is not looking.

“What if it was not cursed but the plans for the Castle?” The general asks.

“He hid them from me since I was a child. Why would he keep it in his hand if he knew I could find it?” Mikhail asks.

“Yeah, that is true, but if it were the plan, it would explain a lot. Luca was walking around the Castle. He must have been looking for a place to enter,” The general says.

“Well, tomorrow night, we will go and look where he walked,” My father says. I smile as I know there are no entrances where I walk to make my father and his vampires notice me. The entrances are all hidden, and my father will never find them without the map. I show Mariana to follow me as some of the men walk out to search my grandfather’s room. We will kill them there. I love it when my father freaks out. I can not get enough of it. We follow the men that are on their way to the bedroom.

“I am telling you guys, there is a ghost! It is either the Duchess or the Duke’s father,” One says.

“Don’t be silly,” Another one says, and walks to my grandparent’s old room. As they enter, we get out of the wall and walk into the closet. I smile as it is clever to hide the door behind the closet. We close the door softly and wait. The four vampires are searching the room, and we can see them as they move around the room. We wait until their backs are turned to us, then we strike. We are fast and kill them quickly. Then we went to my grandfather’s study and killed the few searching there. We return to the library, and I see Mikhail sitting on the chair, going through my grandfather’s things. I wish I had a white oak stake so I could kill him.

“I am going to see what is taking the others so long,” The general says. I know he will return soon with more bad news for my father. He comes running in, and he looks pale.

“They are all dust!” He says. My father jumps up and looks around.

“Whoever is doing this! If I get my hands on you, you will die!” My father shouts. I smile, as I know he is in an absolute panic now.
