Chapter 91

Third Person’s POV

It is the morning of the attack. The wolves are ready to fight, and they know what to do. The shouts are moving through the valley where the wolves will attack from. The gypsies have moved to one of the caves behind the mountain that will give them entrance to the Castle as they will help the wolves from the inside. They made sure the humans on the mountain could not see them, and they sneaked past them and would wait in the cave until nightfall. The hunters will be on top of the mountain fighting with some wolves against the humans. Humans will not expect hunters to help the wolves. The hunters are good with guns and know how to fight humans on the battlefield. They have much more experience than humans as they lived longer and fought many battles. Many of them have fought in both world wars, and they know how to fight when they are at war. Paris and Walker will go inside the Castle and take the white oak stakes with them. They will each have one and give one to Luca, Kristina, and Roman. They are all the fastest and strongest fighters that can take Mikhail on. They must ensure that they get Mikhail alone and that there are no more vampires around him. They know he is an original and very strong, although he is a coward. Original vampires are faster, stronger, and more potent than the other vampires, and it will be the first time they will have to fight an original vampire. So, they must make sure that they are ready for him and ready to fight him. They must be prepared, as he will try to play mind games with them or compel them to fight on his side. The only ones he can not compel are his children, as they are also original vampires, and he will not be able to compel them as they are as strong as he is. All the creatures the Moon Goddess needed for this fight were together and ready to fight. They will fight with honor and dignity, and they are all willing to give their lives for the King and Queen of werewolves that Selene handpicked for this day to set all werewolves free from their fight against the vampires. It will also set the vampires free from their curse to walk the earth at night, and she knows they will no longer attack humans, as there are many other ways for them to feed than to drink from a human.

“Do you think the wolves will ever attack? Maybe they are still scared of you like a few hundred years ago,” Dennis asks.

“I do not know. It has been a while since they moved to nearby towns,” Mikhail says.

“Maybe we should attack them,” Dennis says.

“We do not know where they are, and they have those bloody gypsies with them,” Mikhail says. He does not want to admit to his brother that he is too much of a coward to go out of the Castle to fight the King and Queen of werewolves.

“Well, then, maybe we should give the vampires a night of rest and go out and play. I am sure they are bored with watching the Castle constantly,” Dennis says. He knows what a coward his brother is, and he will have all the excuses not to send his vampires out to play.

“They need to stay here. They need to be on high alert and make sure they are constantly on guard. We do not know when the wolves will attack, and it could be tonight. I want my vampires to always be on high alert,” Mikhail says. He and Dennis are drinking a bourdon. Mikhail sometimes wishes he could get drunk, like in his younger years when he was still a human. He knows he will never be able to feel that high again, but the high he gets from drinking from a human is even better. Even just thinking of it makes him hungry, but the bloody wolves are blocking them in the towns nearby to get any humans to feed off.

Dennis looks at the bourbon in his glass. He does not even know why he is drinking it anymore. He does not like the taste anymore, and it does not make him feel good anymore. He gets up and walks to the kitchen. He pours the bourbon out and takes some b***d from the fridge. There is no one in the kitchen, and suddenly, a secret door opens, and he gets pulled into the walls of the Castle. Luca is standing before him but shows him not to speak. They move fast to the end of the hallway behind the Castle walls and reach a cave where a girl awaits them.

“Uncle Dennis! It is good to have you back. I am so glad you got the tattoo and your soul back. You were always more of a father to my siblings and me than my father was,” Luca says.

“Luca, it is good to see you! How are the other two doing?” Dennis says as they hug.

“They are great. They both have mates, and this is Mariana, my mate,” Luca says. Mariana greets Dennis, and he greets her back.

“We must be quick, uncle, before my father starts looking for you. We will attack tonight, and I need you and your vampires to be on high alert, and we will not attack the ones with tattoos. Be careful and try to stay away from my father,” Luca says.

“I will do that and pretend to fight on another front,” Dennis says. He knows his niece and nephews need him, and he needs to get out of this alive to help them. He knows he is all they will have left besides each other.

“I will see you again after the fight tonight,” Luca says as he walks back with his uncle. Dennis still has the glass of b***d in his hand.

“Where is my brother?” Mikhail asks one of the vampires.

“I will go and look for him, Duke,” The vampire says. Luca takes Dennis and walks with him to the hallway. He pushes him out of a secret door fast, and Dennis stands there pretending to look at the paintings on the wall. Mikhail walks down the corridor a little while later and sees his brother standing before a portrait.

“Oh, here you are. I was wondering where you were,” Mikhail says.

“I was looking at the paintings and remembering how scared we were of them as children, and we used to run past them to our bedrooms,” Dennis says.

“I remember. We were two little cowards as humans, but look at us now, a few hundred years further, and we are still alive,” Mikhail says.

“Yeah, look at us now, two soulless creatures with no feelings at all,” Dennis says, laughing as he downs the b***d from his glass.

“I sure can do with warm b***d straight from the source right now,” Mikhail says. Dennis is disgusted but does not show it and pretends he does not care.

“I hope the attack comes fast so we can feed again. We will defeat the wolves when they attack. Your Castle is a fortress,” Dennis says.

“I know they will not even get to the front door. I am sure our vampires, plus the bunch we got from other countries, are strong enough to defeat the wolves,” Mikhail says. Dennis plays along, although he knows his brother and his vampires’ chances do not look that good as he and his vampires will turn against them and fight them with the help of Luca and the gypsies from the inside.

“Yes, then we can feed on the humans again from nearby towns. We will have a big feast the night we defeat the wolves,” Dennis says.

“I wonder what is taking the wolves so long? Maybe you are right, and they are cowards like their forefathers who fled to the island from the mainland,” Mikhail says.

“Well, we will have to see about that. Let’s give it another few weeks, and if they do not attack us, we attack them. We can take one town at a time and attack the gypsies first,” Dennis says. He can see that Mikhail does not like that idea, but he nods. They will have to do something about b***d, as the b***d in the Castle is running out, and animal b***d does not taste as good as human b***d. They can no longer send their troops to the bigger cities to rob the b***d banks, as they need all their troops here at home to protect the Castle and its Duke. Mikhail does not want his armies too far away from the Castle, as he does not know when and how the wolves will attack.

“Everything is ready for tonight, King. I am so glad I can be part of this attack. You do not know how long I have been waiting for this day to rid the world of Mikhail,” Jeffrey says. Elena and her team of she-wolves are also ready to go with Jeffrey, and they will help the hunters to attack the humans.

“We are all ready to go,” Elena says.

“We are ready,” Roman says. He and Kristina are also ready with the white oak stakes in their bags. They know one of them, or Luca, will have to kill their father. The King and Queen can do it if they work in a team like always.

“The gypsies are already in position,” Walker says.

“We are ready,” Val says. He is also glad to be part of the team that will kill Mikhail.

“We are ready,” Peter says. He will lead the dogmen, and they will also help attack the humans that put them through so much hell.

“I am ready to scramble the human’s signals so they can not communicate,” Herman says. He will be working from the top of a hill nearby.

“Okay, we are all ready,” Everyone says.

Selene looks down on the creatures she brought together to fight this war against the biggest monster that ever walked the earth. She knows they can beat him and can not wait for the night to fall. She would help but is not allowed to intervene in earth wars. She can only look from a distance and look down on the battle. She looks at the wolves that are all around her. They are the wolves of old. She knows how they would have loved to be there to fight the evil Mikhail. If only she could send them back, but she can not, as they have lived their lives. Their wolves will one day be given to someone else. She looks down at Paris and Walker and knows she has made the right decision to make them the King and Queen of the new Kingdom of Wessex. She knows the Kingdom will prosper under them and that all wolves are united now. Well, there are a few royals who do not want to accept it yet, but they will soon have no wolves that will side with them and have no soldiers to fight their battle. They can not take the Kingdom of Wessex on even if they unite. They are not strong enough for all the wolves that have joined the Kingdom. Tonight, Selene will see if the legacy comes true. If Paris and Walker are the ones to save the werewolves of this earth from the biggest evil they have ever faced. If they can not do it, the world and humanity are doomed. The humans will become enslaved people. The wolves will still live free in nature but will become boogie men, and they will lose all hope if their King and Queen die. Selene knows they are praying to her for help, but all she can do is give them the moon’s power to help them.
